Distribution System Reconfiguration Using the PC Cluster based Parallel Adaptive Evolutionary Algorithm

  • This paper presents an application of the parallel Adaptive Evolutionary Algorithm (AEA) to search an optimal solution of a reconfiguration in distribution systems. The aim of the reconfiguration is to determine the appropriate switch position to be opened for loss minimization in radial distribution systems, which is a discrete optimization problem. This problem has many constraints and it is very difficult to find the optimal switch position because of its numerous local minima. In this investigation, a parallel AEA was developed for the reconfiguration of the distribution system. In parallel AEA, a genetic algorithm (GA) and an evolution strategy (ES) in an adaptive manner are used in order to combine the merits of two different evolutionary algorithms: the global search capability of GA and the local search capability of ES. In the reproduction procedure, proportions of the population by GA and ES are adaptively modulated according to the fitness. After AEA operations, the best solutions of AEA processors are transferred to the neighboring processors. For parallel computing, a PC-cluster system consisting of 8 PCs·was developed. Each PC employs the 2 GHz Pentium IV CPU, and is connected with others through switch based fast Ethernet. The new developed algorithm has been tested and is compared to distribution systems in the reference paper to verify the usefulness of the proposed method. From the simulation results, it is found that the proposed algorithm is efficient and robust for distribution system reconfiguration in terms of the solution quality, speedup, efficiency, and computation time.

Optimal Allocation Method of Hybrid Active Power Filters in Active Distribution Networks Based on Differential Evolution Algorithm

  • In this paper, an optimal allocation method of a hybrid active power filter in an active distribution network is designed based on the differential evolution algorithm to resolve the harmonic generation problem when a distributed generation system is connected to the grid. A distributed generation system model in the calculation of power flow is established. An improved back/forward sweep algorithm and a decoupling algorithm are proposed for fundamental power flow and harmonic power flow. On this basis, a multi-objective optimization allocation model of the location and capacity of a hybrid filter in an active distribution network is built, and an optimal allocation scheme of the hybrid active power filter based on the differential evolution algorithm is proposed. To verify the effect of the harmonic suppression of the designed scheme, simulation analysis in an IEEE-33 nodes model and an experimental analysis on a test platform of a microgrid are adopted.

지역통합 네트워크관리하의 재고통제 운용전략에 관한 연구 (An Operational Strategy for Inventory Control of Networked Regional Distribution Centers)

  • Operational strategy for inventory control in the distribution system has been given attention. If an individual enterprise implements the strategy, it is not easy to gain scale merits because of limited quantity or burden of inventory. In this study, we propose an operational strategy for inventory control that considers managerial integration of regional distribution centers (RDCs) and present a model of it. In a network of several RDCs, they could share inventory information and supply parts for others in case of an inventory shortage. And a numerical example of the network is illustrated, which compares two operational strategies, integration management of RDCs and individual management of them. The result shows total cost reduction in the strategy of integration management through the efficient inventory control of multi-echelon distribution.

운송시간을 고려한 생산-분배계획을 위한 최적화모델 (An Optimization Model for an Production-Distribution Planning with Consideration of a Transportation Time)

  • Recently, a multi-facility, multi-product and multi-period industrial production-distribution planning problem has been widely investigated in Supply Chain Management (SCM). One of the key issues in the current SCM research area involves reducing both production and distribution costs. We have developed an optimization model to tackle the above problems under the restricted conditions such as transportation time and a zero inventory. Computational experiments using commercial tool Ms-Excel Solver show that the real size problems we encountered can be solved in reasonable time. The model can be used to decide an appropriate production-distribution planning problem in SCM research area.

Power Flow Calculation Method of DC Distribution Network for Actual Power System

  • DC distribution system has been evaluated as an excellent one in comparison with existing AC distribution network because it needs fewer power conversion stages and the full capacity of the equipment can be used without consideration for power factor. Recently, research and development on the implementation of DC distribution networks have been progressed globally based on the rapid advancement in power-electronics technology, and the technological developments from the viewpoint of infrastructure are also in progress. However, to configure a distribution network which is a distribution line for DC, more accurate and rapid introduction of analysis technology is needed for the monitoring, control and operation of the system, which ensure the system run flexible and efficiently. However, in case of a bipolar DC distribution network, there are two buses acting as slack buses, so the Jacobian matrix cannot be configured. Without solving this problem, DC distribution network cannot be operated when the network is unbalanced. Therefore, this paper presented a comprehensive method of analysis with consideration of operating elements which are directly connected between neutral electric potential caused by the unbalanced of load in DC distribution network with bipolar structure.

태양광전원 수용을 위한 MVDC 배전망의 경제성평가 모델링에 관한 연구 (A Study on Economic Evaluation Modeling of MVDC Distribution System for Hosting Capacity of PV System)

  • MVDC 배전기술은 현재 급격하게 도입되고 있는 태양광전원의 접속지연 문제를 해결하기 위한 효과적인 대안으로 평가되고 있지만, DC 배전망용 기기들을 개발해야 하므로 DC 배전망의 구축비용은 경제적인 측면에서의 문제점을 가지고 있다. 따라서, 본 논문에서는 태양광전원의 수용을 위한 MVDC 배전망의 도입 타당성을 평가하기 위하여, 태양광전원 단지를 용량에 따라 규모별로 정의하고, 이를 수용하기 위한 배전망을 건설하는 경우에 대하여 규모별로 수용성 모델을 제시한다. 이 모델은 배전망의 전원공급방식에 따라 AC 및 DC 배전망으로 구분되며, 수용할 태양광전원 단지의 용량에 따라 수백 MW급은 대규모, 수십 MW급은 중규모, 수 MW급은 소규모로 정의된다. 또한, 본 논문에서는 AC 및 DC 배전망의 건설비, 전력변환설비의 교체비, 운용비로 구성된 비용요소와 태양광전원의 발전수익에 따른 전력량 요금 및 REC 요금으로 구성된 편익요소를 고려하여 MVDC 배전망의 경제성평가 모델링을 제시한다. 이를 바탕으로 현재가치 환산법과 원금균등상환 방식을 이용하여 MVDC 배전망의 경제성을 평가한 결과, 태양광전원의 수용 규모에 따라 일정 연계거리 이후에서는 DC 배전망의 구축비용이 기존의 AC 배전망보다 경제적임을 알 수 있어, 본 논문에서 제시한 경제성평가 모델링의 유용성을 확인하였다.

  • Greeting the globalization and information period of 21C, the improvement of the distributional system structure and modernization of publishing distribution are the seriously required periodic assignments for the publishing industry that is a national knowledge and culture industry to be equipped with the core competitiveness. First, it is to found a large distributional organization that is able to provide total logistics services in time that is essential to the publishing company and bookstore. Second, it is to have a logistics service to act up to the variable requirements of customers such as publishing companies and bookstores under the rapidly changing distribution environment. Third, it is to provide the standardized information of publishing distribution. It is needed to establish a total distributional center in collaboration to satisfy the requirements of publishing industry as above. By doing this work, structure of the publishing distribution system can be improved and its constitution can be strengthen, and it is possible not only to construct a stable supply system but also to realize an information-based system in the publishing industry with the construction of information system and its utilization. Furthermore, the application of RFID in the publishing distribution is essentially required to provide the symbolic model and logistics infrastructure into the 'Paju publishing culture information industrial complex'. It could be possible by growing the international recognition regarding distribution environment and strengthening the international competitiveness in the period of the ""Open door".

시뮬레이션과 메타모델을 이용한 자동물류센터 설계 최적화 (A Study for Design Optimization of an Automated Distribution Center using the Simulation and Metamodel)

  • 최근의 자동물류센터는 자동창고(ASRS)와 자동주행대차(AGV)를 중심으로 각종 컨베이어시스템과 운반장치 등으로 구성되면서 매우 복잡한 시스템 형태를 갖게 되었다. 이러한 시스템의 복잡성에 기인하여 시스템 설계과정에서의 정확한 운영 수행도 파악을 위해서는 많은 종류의 설계변수들이 고려되어야 한다. 물류센터 설계에서 고려해야할 일반적인 설계 변수로는 보관설비 및 운반설비의 사양과 여러 가지 시스템 운영 규칙, 보관영역이나 보관물의 형태 등이 있다. 이 논문에서는 자동화물류센터에 대하여 시뮬레이션 실험과 반응표면모델을 이용하여 메타모델을 만들고 이를 통하여 설계변수들을 최적화하는 효율적인 방법에 대하여 소개 하고자 한다. 정확하게 정의된 시뮬레이션 기반의 메타모델은 시스템 함수의 근사적 표현으로서 수리적 계산을 통해 신속한 설계변수 최적화를 가능하게 한다. 이 논문에서 제시한 접근 방법은 자동물류센터와 같은 복잡한 물류 시스템의 설계 단계에서 시뮬레이션의 설계 참여도를 극대화시키고 최종 설계의 정확도를 향상시키는데 기여 할 것이다.

A Study on Lightning Overvoltage Characteristics of Grounding Systems in Underground Distribution Power Cables

  • This paper investigates the transient characteristics of grounding systems used in under-ground distribution power cables. Recently, two kinds of grounding system are used for underground distribution cables in Korea. The first one is conventional multi-point grounding system, the other is newly proposed non-bundled common grounding system. The non-bundled common grounding system has an advantage the decreasing the power loss due to decrease of the shield circulation current. In this paper, the lightning overvoltage induced in neutral wire (in case of non-bundled common grounding system, overvoltage between opened neural wires and grounding in each phase) of these two kinds of grounding systems are estimated and compared by field tests and EMTP simulations. The EMTP simulation methods are firstly verified by comparison of measurement and simulation. Finally, the insulation level against lightning is expected by EMTP simulation results using verified model.

Integrating Operation of Dispersed Generation to Automation Distribution Center for Distribution Network Reconfiguration

  • Due to the many attractive aspects of DG in the future power distribution system, distribution automation will be a center hub of integration of the distribution system and resources to satisfy the various needs of customers in a competitive and deregulated environment. In this paper, operation strategies are presented which use network reconfiguration of the automated distribution systems with DG as a real-time operation tool for loss reduction and service restoration from the view of distribution operation. The algorithms and operation strategies of an automated distribution system with DG are introduced to achieve the positive effects of DG in distribution systems. A simple case study shows the effectiveness of the proposed operation strategies.
