  • Distribution planning requires comprehensive knowledge about not only distribution but also transmission/subtransmission system expansion plan. At the same time, distribution planning is very time consuming and a series of routine job which involves a lot of experience and efforts of planning engineers. Since the quality of distribution planning depends upon the ability of planning engineers, the economy of investment should be taken into consideration. The object of this study is to establish a computerized distribution planning system which helps distribution engineers finding a new system expansion plan. It provides the engineers with at optimal system expansion plan which satisfies the condition of both reliability and economy.

  • Recent developments and trends in the electric power consumption clearly indicate an increasing use of DC in end-user equipment. According to the trends, new DC power distribution systems have been researched and developed although we presently enjoy a predominantly AC power distribution system. We can use various grounding schemes in DC distribution system as well as in AC distribution system to protect human body and equipments. However, we need to evaluate carefully which grounding scheme is appropriate for a specific system before applying those schemes. In this paper, we analyze the human safety and system effect according to various grounding schemes in Low Voltage DC (LVDC) distribution system. Some components in LVDC distribution system are modeled and computer simulations are conducted by using ElectroMagnetic Transient Program (EMTP).

  • Purpose - O2O (online to off-line) is a new economic concept being emerged in the 4th industrial age. Automobile distribution is also undergoing a change to the O2O system. In overseas, vehicles are already being sold through various online platforms. The purpose of this study is to analyze the domestic and foreign automobile distribution structure and intends to suggest the desirable direction of automobile sales in the 4th industrial age. Research design, data, and methodology - Through the investigation of previous studies and the actual cases, the advantages and disadvantages and trends of different types of automobile distribution structures. Result - It can be seen that domestic and foreign automobile brands have quite diverse distribution structures such as direct managed system, agency system, dealer system, direct sales system, online system and online/offline parallel system. Each type has its own characteristics. Conclusion - The distribution structure of automobiles is very diverse, and in particular, it is rapidly changing to an online sales system thanks to the development of information and communication technology and Internet technology and the popularization of smartphones.   • A role of Distribution Automation System(DAS) is required to be changed from observing and control to complex and various new system including functions which monitoring, control, prediction, operation and management of EMS type according to be gradually Smart Grid of distribution operation system for development of further power system industrial. IEC(International Electrotechnical Commission) published communication standards which interface and data model of distribution operation system to IEC 61968 and of host system like EMS(Energy Management System) to IEC 61970. So far, each standards are emphasizing themselves, but if they are applied by designed integration of the standards, it could be more efficiency system. So, in this paper, integration application of IEC standards and structure of further distribution operation system to use them are proposed by gradually increasing importance of communication protocols, functions and roles in further distribution management system considering Smart Grid.

배전선로 회선별단선도 자동생성 알고리즘 (An Auto-drawing Algorithm for the Single Line Diagram of Distribution Systems)

  • Distribution Automation System(DAS) is designed to improve operational efficiency by acquisition and control of remote data using its components such as central computation units, communication network and feeder remote terminal units. A conventional human machine interface of the DAS adopts a schematic diagram which is made by drawing power equipments on the geographic information system map. The single line diagram is more useful than the schematic diagram for the main tasks of distribution system operation such as protective relay coordination, service restoration and loss minimization. Since the configuration of the distribution line is changed according to the relocation of the open tie switches, the auto-drawing algorithm based on the connection between the sections and the switches is an essential technique. This paper proposes a new auto-drawing algorithm for a single line diagram of distribution systems based on tertiary tree and collision avoidance method. The feasibility of the proposed algorithm has been testified for various cases using practical distribution system with 12 feeders.

  • The world is in the process of a structural change related to ICT convergence knowledge industries. ICT is leading to the creation of new products and services, and is making our lives more convenient, safer, and more efficient. In advanced countries, many studies have been conducted with the goal of developing new business models converged with ICT, and this is also the case in the food industry. Korea possesses world-leading ICT, and if this ICT is applied to the food industry, a world-class new business model can be developed. The u-Food System, which is in the process of development in Korea, is a next-generation food system that can allow food providers, consumers, and distributors to access various types of information about food products, including traceability, distribution, safety, quality, and freshness, and manage this information. It is a future food system that converges ICT, biotechnology and sensing technology with food. Based on the u-Food System, this paper will introduce the status of current smart quality distribution technologies that converge ICT (such as sensor tag, sensor network, LBS, GIS, and CDMA) with food technologies (such as traceability, quality, distribution management) to manage the safety and quality of fresh food in the distribution process.

  • The study concerning about the grid connection of the large-capacity energy storage system(ESS) is increasing. However, the transient study such as lightning or switching surge necessarily occurred at power system with ESS has been hardly performed. Therefore, this paper performs the analysis of lightning surge in distribution system with ESS using electromagnetic transient program(EMTP). The battery model in Matlab/Simulink is modeled by EMTP, which is the specialized software for power system transient study. Also, the bi-directional power electronics for interconnection of the battery and distribution system are modeled by EMTP. When the lightning is occurred at interconnection point of ESS, this paper simulates the existence of ESS and operation conditions of ESS and analyzes the surge in distribution system and ESS according to the various conditions.

  • Recently, with the rise of environmental issues and the change of government policy (Renewable Energy 3020 Implementation Plan), a large amount of renewable energy such as solar and wind power is connected to the power system, and most of the renewable energy is concentrated in the power distribution network. This causes many problems with the voltage management and the protection coordination of the grid due to the its intermittent power generation. In order to effectively operate the distribution network, it is necessary to deploy more intelligent terminal devices in the field to measure the status of the distribution network and develop various operation functions such as visualization and big data analysis to support the power distribution system operators. In addition, the failover technology must be supported for the non-stop operation of the power distribution system. This paper proposes the system architecture of new power distribution management system to cope with high penetration of renewable energy. To verify the proposed system architecture, the functional unit test and performance measurement were performed.

배전자동화 계통의 루프 운전시 보호협조에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Protective Coordination of Distribution Automation System under Loop Operation)

  • As a general radial configuration of power distribution system, the various researches have being studied to change a radial configuration to network one such as smart, intelligent and micro grid for loop operation. If a radial configuration changes to network, protective coordination comes to the biggest problem. When a typical protective algorithm is applied to loop distribution system protection, the interrupted section is expanded, therefore, reliability grows worse. This paper presents the new protective method being able to apply to loop distribution system with Distribution Automation System (DAS) which separate the minimal faulted section. Through contingency analysis of the sustained and momentary fault, we analyzed the influence for radial configuration and loop configuration using interrupted area and proved the effectiveness of proposed method.
