  • Objective : This discussion was performed in order to find a meaning of Mahwang, Gyeji, Sesin, Buja and Related Prescriptions connected to the distribution problem of body fluid caused by inflammation. Methods : The pharmacological effects of the prescriptions including Mahwang, Gyeji, Sesin, Buja and these herbs which are used as an individual case were investigated literally. Results : Mahwang, Gyeji, Sesin, Buja and the prescriptions including these herbs have the effect of strengthening heart and increasing cardiac output. Therefore it can be thought that the effect of distributing body fluid is included in the Mahwang, Gyeji, Sesin, Buja and Related Prescriptions. And especially the effect of mahwang could not be restricted to the diaphoretic effect. The effect of Mahwang could be interpreted as the distributing body fluid effect through the stimulation of sympathetic nervous system and inhibition of parasympathetic system. Conclusion : Mahwang, Gyeji Sesin and Buja and related prescriptions have the effect of distributing body fluid via stimulation of sympathetic system.

  • Greater yang disease(太陽病) is a syndrome induced by peripheral obstruction. One of them is "wind stroke(中風)" with the obstruction in lymphatic system. The other obstruction appearing on circulatory system is called "cold damage(傷寒)." Kyejitang(桂枝湯) is the formula prescribed for greater yang wind stroke pattern(太陽中風證) which is caused by peripheral lymphatic duct obstruction. Ramulus Cinamoni acts as a vasodilator and Radix Paeoniae relieves the abdominal tension. They make blood move to the internal organ and this can remove the retention of peripheral lymphatic system. Covering the patient with a blanket and getting him/her to have hot and thin rice gruel causes slight Diaphoresis, contributing to relieving the retention of lymphatic system. Disharmony between nutrient and defense(營衛不和) means that pressure becomes different between lymphatic system and vascular system. Kyejitang(桂枝湯) is called releasing muscles formula(解肌劑) because it can resolve such pressure difference. Diaphoresis is not a means to eliminate pathogenic qi(邪氣) from the body. That is the syndrome proving that the body fluid has moved around when disordered fluid distribution is corrected. Therefore, diaphoresis should be induced weakly all the time. If diaphoresis is induced excessively, body fluid will move more than desired and then illness cannot be cured. In Sanghanlun(傷寒論), dispersing drugs aim at addressing the retention in the exterior field, but it actually applies to the entire exterior and interior to make body fluid move. Therefore, diaphoresis does not just act on exterior field, and freeing the stool does not only apply to interior field. Distribution of body fluid changed by pathogenic qi(邪氣) influences the whole body because the human body has a closed circulatory system. Sanghanlun(傷寒論) has included treatments for pathogenic disease. However, its value should not be limited to pathogenic disease. It is because controlling blood flow by sending body fluid to the place a doctor wants is certainly worth using for treatment of non-exogenous disease or chronic illnesses.

  • The pulsatile flow of blood through a stenosed artery under the influence of external periodic body acceleration is studied. The effect of non-Newtonian nature of blood in small blood vessels has been taken into account by modeling blood as a Casson fluid. The non-linear coupled equations governing the flow are solved using perturbation analysis assuming that the Womersley frequency parameter is small which is valid for physiological situations in small blood vessels. The effect of pulsatility, stenosis, body acceleration, yield stress of the fluid and pressure gradient on the yield plane locations, velocity distribution, flow rate, shear stress and frictional resistance are investigated. It is noticed that the effect of yield stress and stenosis is to reduce flow rate and increase flow resistance. The impact of body acceleration is to enhance the flow rate and reduces resistance to flow.

  • The characteristics of spray combustion and dropsize of spray through twin-fluid atomizer was experimentally investigated. The distribution of flame temperature have an effect on the generation of NOx. To investigate there effects, flame temperature with different spray shape was observed. The spray shape was varied by various bluff-bodys. Mean temperature were measured by thermocouple respectively, and NOx concentration was measure by NOx analyser. Distribution of droplet sizes were measured by PMAS. The result showed that the flame with wide distribution has lower temperature and lower NOx emission compared with narrow.

  • In this paper the dynamic effects due to the free water motions in tanks upon the lateral motion of a floating body in regular waves are calculated, in order to obtain the relationship between a motion of a floating body and that of the free water in tanks. Under the assumption that the fluid is ideal and motion amplitudes are small, velocity potential of the fluid in tanks is calculated by the source distribution method and the hydrodynamic forces and moments are calculated by the integration of fluid pressures over the tank surface. Hydrodynamic effects of the fluid on the floating body are expressed in terms of added mass and coupling coefficient obtained from the integration. Computations are carried out for ship with seven wide center tanks and comparisons between the liquid cargo loading case and the rigid cargo loading case are shown.

  • There are wide variations in the definition and functions of tri-jiao among investigators in the area of Chinese medicine. Given a wide spectrum of views, it is difficult to identify uniform opinions about the definition and functions of tri-jiao. This paper is intended to clarify the meaning of the tri-jiao, which was presented as 'it builds a waterway and serves as the passage for the flow of Shuidao' in ${\ulcorner}\;SuWen\;\cdot\;Linglanbidianlun\;{\lrcorner}$ a classic text of traditional Chinese medicine. Investigators have been divided in their opinions in interpreting this reference; some claim that tri-jiao regulates fluid metabolism in the entire body while others assert that the role of tri-jiao is limited to lower-jiao that controls urination function. However, this does not appear convincing given the description in other texts of ${\ulcorner}\;SuWen\;\cdot\;Linglanbidianlun\;{\lrcorner}$, in which functions of 12 organs were explained in a summarized manner. The assumption that the role of tri-jiao is closely linked with lower-jiao seems to have deviated from the meaning of the original texts. Besides, fluid metabolism involves the entire body, and any pathological changes caused by disorders of fluid metabolism can affect any part of the body, not only the lower area of the body cavity. The phrase, 'passage for the flow of Shuidao,' expressed in the texts of ${\ulcorner}\;SuWen\;\cdot\;Linglanbidianlun\;{\lrcorner}$ is likely to mean that body fluid is also distributed and transported to the whole body along with primordial-Qi via tri-jiao. The phrase, 'passage for the flow of Shuidao' means that tri-jiao is involved in regulating body fluid metabolism and that it plays an important role in fluid distribution.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the differences in body fat distribution between obese boys and girls in high school and the relationship between the precent of body fat and the Broca Index. The survey of data was conducted from November 3rd to the 11th in 1997. The data were analyzed by the use of a mean, standard deviation and a Pearson's correlation coefficient. Measurements of the percentage of body fat and lean body mass were made by a Bioelectrical Impedence while height, weigh and the Broca index were measured by a fatness measuring system. First, measurements of height, weight and the Broca index were made by a fatness measuring system on 1,125 1st year students and 1,076 2nd year students. The result of measurements, 216 obese boys and 100 obese girls appeared to have above 10% of the Broca index. The result of this study can be summarized as follows: 1) Obese boys and girls were grouped by the level of the Broca index as follows: boys, 110-less than 120 60.0%, 120-less than 130 20.8%, 130-less than 140 11.1%, above 140 7.4%. ; girls, 110-less than 120 44.4%, 120-less than 130 32.0%, 130-less than 140 13.0%, above 140 11.0%. 2) Obese boys and girls were grouped by level of the percentage of body fat by Bioelectrical Impedence as follows: boys, less than 20% 5%, 20%-less than 25% 34.7%, above 25% 33.8% ; girls. less than 25% 15.0%, 25%-less than 30% 43.0%, above 30% 42.0%. 3) In obese boys the Broca index score appeared to be positively related to body weight(r = .741, p<.001), the percent of body fat(r=.604, p<.001), lean body mass(r=.375, p<.001), body fluid(r=.445, p<.001l). On the other hand the percent of body fat was not a significant correlation of lean body mass (r= -.074), body fluid(r= -.073). 4) In obese girls, the Broca index score appeared to be positively related to body weight(r= .693, p<.001), the percent of body fat(r=.645, p<.001), lean body mass(r=.531, p<.001), body fluid(r=.532, p<.01), and the percent of body weight score appeared to be positively related to lean body mass(r=.206, p<.01), body fluid(r=.207, p<.01).

  • This study performed the numerical analysis of the internal nozzle flows including cavitation phenomena by using the automated body-fitted grid generator and the multi-fluid model. The effect of grid refinement and the validation of multifluid model were investigated using four computational meshes under two test conditions. The mesh #3 was chosen as the optimum which can reduce the computational time and have good prediction ability to identify the cavitation region simultaneously. In addition, the computed results using multi-fluid model were compared with the reference experimental observations and numerical simulation results using homogeneous equilibrium model. From the distribution of volume fraction and velocity field, the multi-fluid model predicted the internal nozzle flows well when the liquid quality parameters were selected as $1.0{\times}10^{12}$ for initial number density and 25 ${\mu}m$ for bubble diameter.

  • Sangdong scheelite deposit is confirmed to have been formed by replacement of limestone beds by metasomatic mineralization. Mineralogical zonal distribution and filling temperatures are related with order of its formation and tungsten mineralization. The first formed garnet-pyroxene zone, left in the margins of the ore body, shows the highest filling temperature of fluid inclusions in pyroxene, averaging $420^{\circ}C$. The central part of the ore body, mainly composed of quartz-mica-scheelite, shows higher fi11ing temperatures of fluid inclusions in quartz, than hornblende-quartz-scheelite zone surrounding the quartz-mica-scheelite zone, averaging $240^{\circ}C$. The distribution of highter filling temperatures above average temperature is applicable to the richest part of scheelite distribution. Generally scheelite shows higher filling temperature by about 20 to $100^{\circ}C$ than quartz in a given sample. The crystallization temperature of the main phase of scheelite deposition is $311^{\circ}C$ at the pressure of 230 to 500 bars at Sangdong area. Gas-rich inclusions in the pyroxene are homogenized into either gas or liquid phase or into both phases in a given crystal of the pyroxene, which suggests boiling at the formation of skarn.
