  • Service restoration is one of the most important missions in distribution system operation. This paper proposes a multi-agent system approach to distribution system restoration. Every relay is developed as an agent by adding its own intelligent, self-tuning and communication ability. The relay agent independently calculates and corrects its restoration index through communication with neighboring agents and its own intelligence. The proposed algorithm is applied to a simple network to demonstrate its soundness and effectiveness.

  • This paper, which is one of the researches to limit high fault-current, treats the application of an inductive High Tc Superconducting Fault Current Limiter(HTSFCL) to distribution systems. In case that the inductive HTSFCL is applied to distribution systems, this paper presented the usefulness and the commercial possibility of it through computer simulation. If the inductive HTSFCL is established in distribution systems, after fault, it limits fault current effectively within a few millisecond, so it contributes to stability of power distribution system. Especially as the system with the HTSFCL is compared with the system without it, the system is improved in stability.

  • The main contents of this paper are the PQM system construction case and distribution system harmonic voltage analysis. The PQM system has constructed by KEPCO in order to investigate power quality of distribution power system for new power quality standard of KEPCO. In result, we have confirmed that voltage harmonic measurement value of the high voltage contract customer 8 households is suitable the KEPCO harmonic standard tentative plan. And the voltage harmonic value of distribution line end side is not always more high than source side by harmonic current offset effect. In the future, acquired data by season, region, load from the PQMS will be used on the resonable harmonic standard enactment in KEPCO.

  • This paper presents a application of the voltage analysis method for practical distribution system with DG(Distributed Generation). If the wind farm system is introduced in the existing distribution systems, there are many serious impacts in systems. So it is practiced the voltage analysis for the distribution system when the wind farm is introduced. in this paper, we used computer simulations with the DistFlow Method for system analysis.

  • In this paper, the method of protective coordination is studied to install Superconducting Fault Current Limiter (SFCL) to power distribution system. If SFCL is installed, the protective coordination is not operated well because of the decreased fault current. Thus, the resetting method of protective devices is presented to coordinate protection system in power distribution system with resistor-type SFCL. The presented methods are divided into three parts; OCR, OCR-Recloser, OCR-Recloser-Recloser. The presented methods are proved through case studies using PSCAD/EMTDC simulation.

  • This paper presents an analytical method for the reliability evaluation of distribution system, including the distributed generations. Unlike the large sized generations of transmission system, the distributed generations have complexities in analyzing and determining the operation. In the process of evaluate reliability, it can be shown that the analytical method is simpler than the Monte-Carlo simulation and the method using Load Duration Curve model is more accurate than that using peak load model. The modeling of distributed generation to analysis distribution system reliability using LDC is proposed in this Paper, and is compared with the MCS method as a result of case studies.

  • This paper presents an efficient algorithm for loss reduction and load balancing by sectionalizing switch operation in large scale distribution system of radial type. We use Genetic algorithm and Kruskal algorithm to solve distribution system reconfiguration. Genetic algorithm is used to minimize objective function including loss and load balancing items. Kruskal algorithm is used to satisfy the radial condition of distribution system. The experimental results show that the proposed method has the ability to search a good solution regardless of initial configuration and size of system.

  • This thesis investigates an expert system(ES) to propose fault restoration plan by utilizing tree search strategies. In order to cope with an extensive amount of data and frequent breaker switching operations in distribution systems, the database of system configuration is constructed by using binary trees. This remarkably enhances the efficiency of search algorithm and makes the proposed ES easily adaptable to system changes due to switching operations. The rule-base is established to fully utilize the meris of tree-structured database. The inferring strategy is developed mainly based on the best-first search algorithm to increase computation efficiency. The proposed ES has been implemented to efficiently deal with large distribution systems by reducing computational burden remarkably compared with the conventional ES's.

  • According to the use of distribution automation systems, the function to find or to search a fault phase is necessary for automatic switches in a distribution substation. In this paper, two algorithms are developed to fine the fault circuit and the fault phase for the automatic switches in substation with ungrounded power system. One is the fault circuit searching method using the zero sequence voltage at the bus and zero sequence current of circuit current and the other is to find the fault phase using the line voltage and zero sequence current. The developed algorithms are tested in the case study simulations. An ungrounded power system is modeled by EMTP as a case study system. The developed algorithms are tested in the case study simulations and each shows correct results.

  • The cooling of data centers has emerged as a significant challenge as the density of IT server increases. Server installations, along with the shrinking physical size of servers and storage systems, has resulted in high power density and high heat density. The introduction of high density enclosures into a data center creates the potential for "hot spots" within the room that the cooling system may not be able to address, since traditional designs assume relatively uniform cooling patterns within a data center. The cooling system for data center consists of a CRAC or CRAH unit and the associated air distribution system. It is the configuration of the distribution system that primarily distinguishes the different types of data center cooling systems, this is the main subject of this paper.
