A Study on the Behavior Characteristics of Residual Stress of the Thin Butt Weldment by Mechanical Tensioning Method (인장법에 의한 박판 판계 용접부의 잔류 응력 거동 특성에 관한 연구)

  • For thin panel welded structure, the various welding distortions were found due to the low resistance against welding deformation. Especially, buckling distortion induced in the thin panel welded structure produce severe problems related to cost in production stage and safety in service life. So, many researches including mechanical and thermal tensioning method for preventing the occurrence of buckling distortion in the production stage have been performed. The purpose of this study is to identify the behavior of longitudinal residual stress at the SA butt weldment with thin plate of 6mm thickness under tension load by 3 dimensional FEA. For it, mesh design for 3D FEA was constructed with 20 nodes brick element for butt weldment and 8 nodes shell element for base metal. According to FEA results, the longitudinal compressive strain inducing tensile residual stress at the butt weldment decreased. It was because the compressive thermal strain in way of weldment was reduced by tension load. The control effect of residual stress increased with an increase in tension load. So, if the amount of tension load applied to the weldment exceeds 1.5 times of longitudinal shrinkage force, the amount of longitudinal residual stress decreased below the critical value inducing the buckling distortion at the SA butt weldment. Its validity was verified by experiment.

  • Cross-sectional distortions take place when steel box girders a re subjected to torsional moment, as a consequence of which distortional warping stresses are necessarily developed. Additional normal stresses due to the distortion are should be included at the design stage. The relative magnitude with respect to the maximum bending stress are kept less than the specific values, i.e., at 5~10%, by properly spaced intermediate diaphragms that could prevent the distortional deformation of the box girder. However, current design equations for the stiffness of intermediate diaphragms were derived based on BEF. In this study, the area required by the intermediate diaphragm members are investigated through three-dimensional finite element analyses. The results of the analyses indicate that the current equations give to conservative values for the intermediate diaphragm of box girder bridges. Finally, an improved equation for the area of the intermediate diaphragm is derived from a regression analysis from the finite element analysis results.

Changes in the Standardized Uptake Value According to the Type of Metal of Dental Prosthesis in PET-CT Fusion Image (PET-CT 융합 영상에서 치과보철물의 금속 종류에 따른 표준섭취계수 값의 변화)

  • In this study, HU(hounsfield unit) value of CT generated by dental prosthesis was measured according to the type of metal when PET-CT was performed, and the degree of distortion and standard deviation of SUV(standard uptake value) and to propose a method to reduce errors in image reading. PET-CT was performed using actual teeth, metal crown, gold crown, titanium, and zirconia dental prosthesis. Compared with general teeth, the SUV value increased with increasing HU value. The SUV value of metal crown, titanium, and zirconia was increased by 37% and the gold crown increased by 45.4%. In addition, image distortions were small in general teeth, metal crown, titanium, and zirconia, but hard curing of the gold crown occurred and image distortion occurred. Therefore, since the metal type of the dental prosthesis affects the SUV value, the NAC(non attenuation correction) PET image of the dental prosthesis can be helpful in the diagnosis of the patient using the gold material.

Separation of Character Strings and High Quality Vectorization for Korean Cadastral Map (한국 지적도에서의 문자분리 및 고품질 벡터화)

  • We propose a new method which can solve the difficulty of separation the character strings from the interconnected lines and the distortions of vectorization at the crossing points and the junction points for the digitized maps at the same time. After the image is thinned, the crossing points and the junction points are detected with their neighbors, which we call the uncertain areas. And then the broken lines are connected each other, and the character strings are separated at the same time. The proposed method is applied to Korean cadastral map. Usually, Korean cadastral map consists of straight lines and character strings. The experimental results show that the method is effective in separating the character strings and getting high quality vectorization for the Korean cadastral map.

  • This paper proposes a low-complexity processor to correct vignetting and barrel distortion for wide-angle cameras. The proposed processor calculates the required correcting factors by employing the piecewise linear approximation so that the hardware complexity can be reduced significantly while maintaining correction quality. In addition, the processor is designed to correct the two distortions concurrently in a singular pipeline, which reduces the overall complexity. The proposed processor is implemented with 18.6K logic gates in a $0.11{\mu}m$ CMOS process and shows the maximum correction speed of 200Mpixels/s for correcting an image of which size is $2048{\times}2048$.

Robust Distributed Speech Recognition under noise environment using MESS and EH-VAD (멀티밴드 스펙트럼 차감법과 엔트로피 하모닉을 이용한 잡음환경에 강인한 분산음성인식)

  • The background noises and distortions by channel are major factors that disturb the practical use of speech recognition. Usually, noise reduce the performance of speech recognition system DSR(Distributed Speech Recognition) based speech recognition also bas difficulty of improving performance for this reason. Therefore, to improve DSR-based speech recognition under noisy environment, this paper proposes a method which detects accurate speech region to extract accurate features. The proposed method distinguish speech and noise by using entropy and detection of spectral energy of speech. The speech detection by the spectral energy of speech shows good performance under relatively high SNR(SNR 15dB). But when the noise environment varies, the threshold between speech and noise also varies, and speech detection performance reduces under low SNR(SNR 0dB) environment. The proposed method uses the spectral entropy and harmonics of speech for better speech detection. Also, the performance of AFE is increased by precise speech detections. According to the result of experiment, the proposed method shows better recognition performance under noise environment.

  • Direction estimation of signal of interest has been an important issue in radar and communication system. Generally, DOA(Direction Of Arrival) methods have been researched in the field of signal processing with ideal array sensors. However, there are some problems in array antennas such as the input signal distortions in amplitude and phase, due to the mutual coupling between array elements. In this paper, we propose a new method of DOA estimation in the dipole array antenna by using the method of moment(MoM) to compensate the mutual coupling effects between array antenna elements. Also, the proposed method is applied to the estimation of azimuth(${\phi}$ ) and elevation(${\theta}$) angles using uniformly linear dipole array under noisy environments.

  • This study was performed to identify the presence of measurement distortions such as electrode polarization and to investigate the influence of soil water content on complex permittivity at low frequency. In low frequency measurement using two-terminal electrode system, electrode polarization effect was observed at frequencies less than approximately 100 HBz. The analysis for real permittivity should be performed at frequencies above 100 kHz in order to exclude electrode polarization effect in the analysis of real permittivity at low frequency measurements. For a given soil, both of real and effective imaginary permittivity of wet soil increased continuously with volumetric water content. This is evidenced by the facts that the real permittivity is proportional to the number of dipole moments per unit volume and effective imaginary permittivity is effected by the conduction due to water. However, proportional relation between real permittivity and volumetric water content is valid at upper MHz frequencies.

A COMPUTER ANALYSIS ON THE KOREAN CONSONANT SOUND DISTORTION IN RELATION TO THE PALATAL PLATE THICKNESS -Dentoalveolar and hard palatal consonant- (구개상의 두께에 따른 한국어 자음의 발음 변화에 관한 컴퓨터 분석 - 치조음, 경구개음-)

  • This study was carried out to investigate the sound distortion following the alternation of the palatal plate thickness. For this study, 2 healthy male subjects (24-year-old) were selected. Born in Seoul, they both spoke Seoul dialect. First, their sounds of /na(나)/, /da(다)/, /1a(라)/, /ja(자)/, /cha(차)/, /ta(타)/, without inserting plates were recorded, and then the sounds with palatal plates of different thickness were recorded, successively. The plate was fabricated in 3 types, each palatal thickness being 1.0mm, 2.5mm, dentoalveolar portion 2.5mm, other residual portion was 1.0mm, successively. Each type plates named B, C, D-type, in succession. Series of analysis were administered through Computer(16 bit) to analyze the sound distortions. These experiments were analyzed by the LPC (without weighting, pre-weighting, post-weighting) of the consonants, vowels portion, formant frequency of the vowels and word duration of the consonants. The findings led to the following conclusions: 1. There was no correlation of the distortion rate on the 2 informants. 2. Generally, vowels were not affected by the palatal plate thickness in the formant analysis, however, more distortion was detected in the LPC analysis, especially C, D-type plates. 3. Consonants distortion was more evident in the C, D-type plate. 4. The second formant was most disturbed and reduced in the all consonants with insertion of the palatal plate, especially C, D-type plate. 5. Word duration was shortened in the plate inserted(except /ja/, /cha/), especially C, D-type. 6. It was found that dentoalveolar, hard palatal sounds were severely distorted in plate inserted, and they were mainly affected by the dentoalveolar portion thickness. 7. There was correlation between palatal thickness and consonants quality.

  • Matrix converters have been studied for eliminating dc link of conventional converter-inverter system, and various undulation strategy have been proposed. Therefore, matrix converter have no energy storage component except for small ac later for the elimination of switching ripple, and can be made compact and highly reliable compare with the do link inverter system. Matrix converter, however, directly connected the input and the output terminals by bidirectional static switch. As a result if the input voltage are asymmetrical, and contain harmonics, the influence of the distortions directly appear on the output terminal. This problem is a major obstacle to the matrix converter. A new control method using average comparison strategy have been proposed in this paper. This control method realizes sinusoidal input and output current unity input displacement factor regardless of load power factor. Moreover, compensation of the asymmetrical and/or harmonic containing input voltage is automatically realized, and calculation time of control function is reduced.
