중국 물류거점도시의 경쟁력 분석 (A Competitiveness Analysis of the Logistic Hub Cities in China)

  • 본 논문은 중국의 주요 물류거점도시들의 경쟁력을 공급측면의 기술적 효율성과 교통인프라의 암묵가격, 수요측면에서는 지역총생산 또는 수출입총액을 각각 가중치로 사용하여 비교 분석한다. 분석결과에 의하면 공급측면에서는 일반적으로 전통적인 대형도시이며 시장지향적인 도시들이 기술적 효율성이 높은 것으로 나타나며 반면에 교통인프라 투자의 기회비용은 높은 것으로 나타난다. 또한 청도, 영파는 기존의 물류도시임에도 불구하고 물류인프라의 측면에서는 상대적으로 저렴한 경제학적 비용으로 추가적인 물류인프라 건설이 가능하다는 점에서 향후의 발전가능성이 높다고 평가된다. 수요요인까지 동시에 고려하여 수요요인에 대한 가중치별 종합경쟁력을 측정한 결과 상해, 심천, 광주 등의 도시가 물류거점도시로서의 종합적인 경쟁력에 있어서 상당히 우위에 있는 것으로 파악된다.

Computational Approaches for Structural and Functional Genomics

  • Structural genomics aims to provide a good experimental structure or computational model of every tractable protein in a complete genome. Underlying this goal is the immense value of protein structure, especially in permitting recognition of distant evolutionary relationships for proteins whose sequence analysis has failed to find any significant homolog. A considerable fraction of the genes in all sequenced genomes have no known function, and structure determination provides a direct means of revealing homology that may be used to infer their putative molecular function. The solved structures will be similarly useful for elucidating the biochemical or biophysical role of proteins that have been previously ascribed only phenotypic functions. More generally, knowledge of an increasingly complete repertoire of protein structures will aid structure prediction methods, improve understanding of protein structure, and ultimately lend insight into molecular interactions and pathways. We use computational methods to select families whose structures cannot be predicted and which are likely to be amenable to experimental characterization. Methods to be employed included modern sequence analysis and clustering algorithms. A critical component is consultation of the presage database for structural genomics, which records the community's experimental work underway and computational predictions. The protein families are ranked according to several criteria including taxonomic diversity and known functional information. Individual proteins, often homologs from hyperthermophiles, are selected from these families as targets for structure determination. The solved structures are examined for structural similarity to other proteins of known structure. Homologous proteins in sequence databases are computationally modeled, to provide a resource of protein structure models complementing the experimentally solved protein structures.

Chemical Distributions of Carbon-Enhanced Metal-Poor (CEMP) Stars from the Baryon Oscillations Spectroscopic Survey (BOSS)

  • We present spatial and chemical distributions of Carbon-Enhanced Metal-Poor (CEMP) stars in the Milky Way's halo, as observed by the Baryon Oscillation Spectroscopic Survey (BOSS). Although the BOSS was designed to obtain spectra of galaxies and quasars, it also observed numerous metal-poor main-sequence turnoff stars for the purpose of flux calibration. The stars observed in the BOSS are two magnitudes fainter (15.5 < g < 19.2) than those in the legacy SDSS, thus it is an extremely useful sample to probe the distant halo. Using effective temperatures, surface gravities, [Fe/H], and [C/Fe] derived for these stars by the SEGUE Stellar Parameter Pipeline (SSPP), we investigate the spatial distribution of [Fe/H] and [C/Fe], the distribution of [C/Fe], and frequency of CEMP stars among these stars. These tools enable characterization of the origin of the halo and its initial mass function.

  • 이 논문에서는 여러 대의 로봇들이 협력하여 미로를 탈출하는 방법을 제안한다. 논문에서 사용된 교육용 로봇들은 ZigBee로 서로 통신할 수 있으나, 로봇들의 연산기능이 낮아 서로 협력하여 문제를 해결할 수 없다. 로봇의 모션제어로 통로를 직립 보행하도록 하였으며, 절대거리 센서를 이용하여 교차로와 막다른 골목을 인식하면 중앙제어 시스템에 전송하여 명령을 받는다. 여러 로봇들이 동시에 미로에 들어가서 효과적으로 미로를 탐색하도록 하는 미로 탐색 알고리즘을 수정하였다.

분포정수계 관로모델을 이용한 비정상 유량계측 (Unsteady Flow Rate Measurement Based on Distributed Parameter Pipeline Model)

  • The paper proposes a model-based measurement of unsteady flow rate by using distributed parameter pipeline model and the measured pressure values at two distant points along the pipeline. The distributed parameter model of hydraulic pipeline is applied with consideration of frequency dependent viscosity friction and unsteady velocity distribution at a cross section of a pipeline. By using the self-diagnostics functions of the measurement method, the validity is investigated by comparison with the measured and estimated pressure and flow rate wave forms at the halfway section on the pipeline. The results show good agreement between the estimated flow rate wave forms and theoretical those under unsteady laminar flow conditions. The method proposed here is useful in estimating unsteady flow rate through an arbitrary cross section in hydraulic pipeline and components without installing an instantaneous flowmeter.

지능형 서비스 로봇을 위한 문맥독립 화자인식 시스템 (Context-Independent Speaker Recognition in URC Environment)

  • This paper presents a speaker recognition system intended for use in human-robot interaction. The proposed speaker recognition system can achieve significantly high performance in the Ubiquitous Robot Companion (URC) environment. The URC concept is a scenario in which a robot is connected to a server through a broadband connection allowing functions to be performed on the server side, thereby minimizing the stand-alone function significantly and reducing the robot client cost. Instead of giving a robot (client) on-board cognitive capabilities, the sensing and processing work are outsourced to a central computer (server) connected to the high-speed Internet, with only the moving capability provided by the robot. Our aim is to enhance human-robot interaction by increasing the performance of speaker recognition with multiple microphones on the robot side in adverse distant-talking environments. Our speaker recognizer provides the URC project with a basic interface for human-robot interaction.

A Pilot Study for CO of BUDHIES Galaxies

  • The fraction of blue galaxies in clusters is found to dramatically increase with redshift. This trend has been known as the Butcher-Oemler (B-O) effect which implies a significant evolution among the cluster galaxy population with time. It has been proposed that the blue galaxies in B-O clusters are at their last stage of star formation, probably using up the gas, which then might have evolved into red and passive cluster galaxies as found in the Local Universe. To test this hypothesis and ultimately to understand the evolution of cluster galaxy population as a function of redshift, we have embarked a multi-wavelength study of two carefully selected galaxy clusters at z~0.2 where the B-O effect becomes first noticeable. In this talk, I will introduce the Blind Ultra-deep Distant HI Environmental Survey (BUDHIES) on those two clusters and relevant multi-wavelength observations. Also, I will present the preliminary results of our recent Nobeyama CO observations of two galaxies selected among the BUHDIES sample.

  • In this paper, an intelligent demand control system was introduced. This system is composed of demand controller, RTU, Power Line Modem and HMI program. The developed demand controller was capable of synchronizing with watthour meter recommended by KEPCO. To control distant loads, network function using powerline communication is implemented in RTU, with HMI program, the untrained users are able to operate system easily. Additionally using the Powerline, the cost and time of installation is saved. The system performance was proved In a several experiments.

Brain consequences of acute kidney injury: Focusing on the hippocampus

  • The high mortality rates associated with acute kidney injury are mainly due to extra-renal complications that occur following distant-organ involvement. Damage to these organs, which is commonly referred to as multiple organ dysfunction syndrome, has more severe and persistent effects. The brain and its sub-structures, such as the hippocampus, are vulnerable organs that can be adversely affected. Acute kidney injury may be associated with numerous brain and hippocampal complications, as it may alter the permeability of the blood-brain barrier. Although the pathogenesis of acute uremic encephalopathy is poorly understood, some of the underlying mechanisms that may contribute to hippocampal involvement include the release of multiple inflammatory mediators that coincide with hippocampus inflammation and cytotoxicity, neurotransmitter derangement, transcriptional dysregulation, and changes in the expression of apoptotic genes. Impairment of brain function, especially of a structure that has vital activity in learning and memory and is very sensitive to renal ischemic injury, can ultimately lead to cognitive and functional complications in patients with acute kidney injury. The objective of this review was to assess these complications in the brain following acute kidney injury, with a focus on the hippocampus as a critical region for learning and memory.

천추 척색종의 수술적 치료 후 장기 추시 결과 (Long-Term Results of Surgical Treatment for Sacral Chordoma)

  • 목적: 천추에 발생한 척색종에 대해 수술적 치료를 시행했던 환자들의 장기 추시 결과를 알아보고자 하였다. 대상 및 방법: 천추 척색종으로 수술을 시행받았던 4예를 대상으로 하였으며, 평균 추시 기간은 8.3년(3~11)이었다. 3예에서 후방 도달법을, 1예에서는 전후방 도달법을 통해 종양의 완전 절제를 시행하였으며, 1예에서 제 2천추 신경근 이상을, 3예에서 제 3천추 신경근 이상을 보존하였다. 술 후 배뇨, 배변 장애 유무를 포함한 하지의 운동, 감각 장애 유무를 평가하였고 수술 부위 감염 등의 합병증과 추시상 국소적인 재발 및 원거리 전이 유무를 조사하였다. 결과: 전 예에서 술 후 하지의 운동 장애는 없었으나 1예에서 우하지의 방사통이 심하였고, 1예에서 수술창의 감염이 있었다. 술 후 배뇨 기능은 2예에서 정상이었고 1예에서는 간헐적 요실금을, 1예에서는 지속적인 자가 도뇨를 시행하였다. 배변 기능은 1예에서 정상이었고, 2예에서는 변비를 보였다. 추시상 1예에서 재발 및 전이가 없었고, 1예에서 수술 부위의 재발이, 1예에서 원거리 전이 및 수술 부위의 재발이 있었다. 결론: 천추에 발생한 척색종에 대하여 수술적 절제 후 평균 8년 이상의 생존으로 만족할 만한 결과를 보였으며, 조기 발견을 통한 적극적인 수술적 치료가 상부 천추 신경근의 보존으로 기능 소실의 최소화와 함께 생존을 연장할 수 있는 방법으로 생각된다.
