  • To find an optimal solution with genetic algorithm, it is desirable to maintain the population sire as large as possible. In some cases, however, the cost to evaluate each individual is relatively high and it is difficult to maintain large population. To solve this problem we propose a novel genetic algorithm based on fuzzy clustering, which considerably reduces evaluation number without any significant loss of its performance by evaluating only one representative for each cluster. The fitness values of other individuals are estimated from the representative fitness values indirectly. We have used fuzzy c-means algorithm and distributed the fitness using membership matrix, since it is hard to distribute precise fitness values by hard clustering method to individuals which belong to multiple groups. Nine benchmark functions have been investigated and the results are compared to six hard clustering algorithms with Euclidean distance and Pearson correlation coefficients as fitness distribution method.

  • Effects of fiber-matrix interphases on the micro-and macro-mechanical behaviors of unidirectionally fiber-reinforced composites subjected to transverse shear loading at remote distance have been studied. The interphases between fibers and matrix have been modeled by the spring-layer which accounts for continuity of tractions, but allows radial and circumferential displacement jumps across the interphase that are linearly related to the normal and tangential tractions. Numerical calculations for basic cells of the composites have been carried out using the boundary element method. For an undamaged composite the micro-level stresses at the matrix side of the interphase and effective shear stiffness have been computed as functions of fiber volume ratio $V_f$ and interphase stiffness k. Results are presented for various interphase stiffnesses from the perfect bonding to the case of total debonding. For a square array composite the results show that for a high interphase stiffness k>10, an increase of $V_f$ increases the effective transverse shear modulus G over bar of the composite. For a relatively low interphase stiffness k<1, it is shwon that an increase of $V_f$ slightly decreases the effective transverse shear modulus. For the perfect bonding case, G over bar for a hexagonal array composite is slightly larger than that for a square array composite. Also for a damaged composite partially debonded at the interphase, local stress fields and effective shear modulus are calculated and a decrease in G over bar has been observed.

  • In recent years, the scale of damage from disasters such as earthquakes and large-scale fires and floods that are occurring in Korea is increasing. Accordingly, interest in urban disaster prevention that combines living infrastructure such as roads and parks is boosting, and it is urgent to prepare measures to reduce the damage scale of local cities. The purpose of this study is to derive implications for disaster prevention measures in areas where disaster prevention safety of local cities is weak through examples of disaster prevention safety of local cities in case of disaster. To this end, this study analyzed the regional characteristics, current status, and disaster prevention problems of regional cities in Japan, and selected disaster-vulnerable areas, and considered the distance relationship between disaster prevention bases through road network analysis. In addition, road closure simulation using ArcGIS Network Analyst was conducted to analyze disaster prevention safety in the area. As a result, the situation of the village which has a high possibility of isolation by natural disasters was grasped in advance. Through this, the suburbs confirmed the necessity of supplementing the disaster prevention function through transportation maintenance such as forest roads, and it was found that the city needs to prepare a risk management system. Furthermore, this study suggests the need for research on areas with a high possibility of isolation, especially in areas where disaster prevention functions are weak in local cities in case of disaster, and shows countermeasures for disaster prevention measures and resident education.

  • ABR traffic form ATM LAN is controlled through RM cell, and the interface function to public ATM network is necessary to provide ABR service efficiently. This paper presnets new interface architecture, which is based on "Projected Node" [6]. using AIPU(ABR Interface Proxy Unit) to support ABR traffic streams incoming from ATM LAN in the public ATM network. For the efficient interworking, the AIPU has designed for interworking functions with ERICA switch mechanism. Conventional ERICA switch mechanism specified in TM 4.0 is basically used for short distance comparative to public network, however AIPU adopts the novel control mechanism to cover logng roud trip time (RTT). To improve the problems and to provide a dynamic range of UCI(Update Count Interval), this paper proposes, a novel control scheme, DUCI ( Dynamic Update Count Interval. And the paper shows inefficiencies of ERICA mechanism with fixed UCI through the simulation results, and represents the performance enhancement of DUCI mechanism developed to adjust the update count interval dynamically.

  • Korea's Rolling stock workshop were established with the introduction of a railway, and became the center of industrial construction in the modern age of Korea. There still exist a lot of Rolling stock workshop buildings in the Youngsan Rolling stock workshop, the representative case of Korean Rolling stock workshop, and especially the study aims to look into modern architectural properties centered on those well-preserved buildings. Korea's Rolling stock workshop were built considering the proper conditions of location such as the neighboring districts from the port to transport vehicles and materials, the place where railroad lines are centralized, the short returning distance of railroad cars for entry and departure, and had the facility layout according to the order of a working process of vehicles, and the unique structure and the section facade shape with proper functions and sizes according to each purpose. In particular, they actively adopted steel-frame structure and reinforced concrete structure, and came to have the initial characteristics of Korea's modern industrial building which is called the structural transition. Therefore, this study aims to highlight the importance of Rolling stock workshop including the Youngsan Rolling stock workshop as industrial architecture heritage in the modern age of Korea.

  • The Electro-Optical Camera (EOC) is a high spatial resolution, visible imaging sensor which collects visible image data of the earth's sunlit surface and is the primary payload on KOMPSAT-l. The purpose of the EOC payload is to provide high resolution visible imagery data to support cartography of the Korean Peninsula. The EOC is a push broom-scanned sensor which incorporates a single nadir looking telescope. At the nominal altitude of 685Km with the spacecraft in a nadir pointing attitude, the EOC collects data with a ground sample distance of approximately 6.6 meters and a swath width of around 17Km. The EOC is designed to operate with a duty cycle of up to 2 minutes (contiguous) per orbit over the mission lifetime of 3 years with the functions of programmable gain/offset. The EOC has no pointing mechanism of its own. EOC pointing is accomplished by right and left rolling of the spacecraft, as needed. Under nominal operating conditions, the spacecraft can be rolled to an angle in the range from +/- 15 to 30 degrees to support the collection of stereo data. In this paper, the status of EOC such as temperature, dark calibration, cover operation and thermal control is checked and analyzed by continuously monitored state of health (SOH) data and image data during the mission life of 3 years. The aliveness of EOC and operation continuation beyond mission life is confirmed by the results of the analysis.

  • Objective: This study is conducted on the differences between flat and curved displays with respect to location of focused points, posture and satisfaction as well as preferred tilt angles. Background: In order to avoid physical and eye fatigue caused by misplayed sitting posture, many studies have asserted that the display requires appropriate location, size and tilt angle as well as curvature. However, most studies have focused on the work environment and the results are varied in the extent. Method: Eye height data in sitting posture were collected from 30 participants. Participants selected the most comfortable viewing angle within the range from $0^{\circ}$ to $12^{\circ}$ while watching videos for both curved and flat display. Then, physical and eye fatigue and overall satisfaction were subjectively evaluated. Lateral diagram describing viewing display condition was set and used to develop linear models for expecting the preferred tilt angle. Results: Due to sitting in the natural viewing posture rather than upright, the eye height is lowered to about 4.6 centimeters, on average, for both displays showing no significant differences. In contrast, preferred angles for the two displays are significantly different and this can be interpreted that curvature vary the points focused. Two linear models as functions of sitting eye height are developed to expect preferred tilt angle for each display. Based on the result of overall satisfaction evaluation, curved display is statistically better than flat display. Conclusion: The results show that flat and curved displays are significantly different expect for the viewing posture. However, reasons for preferring curved display are not accurately factorized and the linear models are limited in the experiment condition such as size of display, distance between display and viewer and other physical environmental factors. Further studies on curved displays under more various conditions are required. Application: This study can contribute to use of the curved display in various way.

  • This paper proposed a object tracking algorithm which can track contour of fast moving object through motion estimation. Since the proposed tracking algorithm is based on the radial representation, the motion estimation of object can be accomplished at the center of object with the low computation complexity. The motion estimation of object makes it possible to track object which move fast more than distance from center point to contour point for each frame. In addition, by introducing both gradient image and difference image into energy functions in the process of energy convergence, object tracking is more robust to the complex background. The results of experiment show that the proposed algorithm can track fast moving object in real-time and is robust under the complex background.

  • Theoretical modelling and computational results for frequency coordination are presented over mobile base station and fixed wireless systems in urban or sub-urban area. Computational results with key parameters needed for interference analysis are performed and discussed in terms of system characteristics, propagation model, protection ratio, frequency dependent rejection, and discrimination angle with signal-interference plane. Based upon minimum coupling loss methodology, calculated interference powers of victim receiver for assumed system parameters are compared with maximum allowable interference power derived from protection ratio as functions of discrimination angle and distance including height-gain model in urban or sub-urban area. The proposed method is applicable for technical analysis on co-existence or interoperability for the various wireless systems, mandatory for frequency coordination or reallocation process.
