스위칭 엑티비티를 최소화한 저전력 DCT 아키텍쳐 구현 (Design and Implementation of Low-Power DCT Architecture by Minimizing Switching Activity)

  • 저전력 설계는 시스템의 소모전력을 줄임으로써 에너지 절약과 함께 휴대용 장치의 배터리 수명을 극대화시킴에 있어 직면한 가장 중요한 문제이다. 본 논문에서는 개량형 CSHM을 이용하여 저전력 DCT 구조를 제안하였다. 제안된 구조는 Computation Sharing Multiplication 연산 과정 중 불필요한 비트에 대한 연산을 수행하지 않는다. 실험 결과, 기존의 DCT 알고리즘과 동일한 연산 결과를 보이면서도 최대 약 9%의 소모전력이 감소하였다. 따라서 제안된 저전력 DCT 구조는 저전력 및 고성능으로 DCT 알고리즘을 처리해야하는 휴대용 멀티미디어 시스템에 적용이 가능하다.

와동과 상호작용하는 대향류 비예혼합화염의 비정상 응답특성 (Unsteady Response of Counterflow Nonpremixed Flames Interacting with a Vortex)

  • A two-dimensional direct numerical simulation is performed to investigate the flame structure of $CH_4/N_2-Air$ counterflow nonpremixed flame interacting with a single vortex. The detailed transport properties and a modified 16-step augmented reduced mechanism based on Miller and Bowman#s detailed reaction mechanism are adopted in this calculation. To quantify the strain on flame induced by a vortex, a scalar dissipation rate (SDR) is introduced. The results show that fuel-side and air-side vortex cause an unsteady extinction. In this case, the flame interacting with a vortex is extinguished at much larger SDR than steady flame. It is also found that air-side vortex extinguishes a flame more rapidly than fuel-side vortex. The unsteady effect induced by flame-vortex interaction does not lead to a transient OH overshoot of the maximum steady concentration observed in experiment, while $HO_2$ radical increases more than the maximum steady concentration with increasing SDR. In addition, it is seen that NO and $NO_2$ are not sensitive to the unsteady variation of SDR.

  • 궤도차량의 고무패드는 상당한 크기의 진폭과 주파수를 가지고 반복되는 동적 변형을 받고 있으므로, 이로 인하여 열발생과 더불어 상당한 내부온도의 상승을 초래한다. 이러한 열발생은 고무 재료의 점탄성 특성에 기인한 것으로, 점성효과에 의하여 변형시의 기계적 에너지의 일부가 히스테리시스 루프의 면적에 해당되는 열에너지로 변환되기 때문이다. 발생한 열은 발산조건이 충분하지 못할 경우 내부온도의 상승을 초래하며, 온도가 과다할 경우에는 고무제품의 성능이나 수명에 중대한 장애요인으로 작용하게 된다. 본 연구에서는 전차 궤도고무에 작용하는 동적 하중에 근거하여 각 부품별 열발생률을 실험을 통하여 측정하고, 이를 입력자료로 하여 궤도패드에 발생하는 온도분포를 유한요소법으로 해석하였다.

  • 일반적으로 압밀계수는 일차원 압밀이론에 근거한 표준압밀시험을 이용하여 평가된다 하지만 실제 현장에서는 압밀 중 3차원적으로 응력 및 변형이 발생하게 된다. 본 연구에서는 실제 현장에서 발생 가능한 다양한 응력-변형 조건을 고려한 새로운 압밀계수 평가방법을 제안하였다. 제안된 방법에 의한 과잉간극수압 소산양상 예측 결과는 실측치와 매우 잘 일치하였으며, 따라서 본 연구에서 제안된 방법을 이용하는 경우 지반의 압밀 속도를 보다 정확하게 예측할 수 있을 것으로 판단된다.

The Effect of Hygrothermal Aging on the Properties of Epoxy Resin

  • Because of excellent electrical properties, epoxy resin is widely used in packaging and casting power equipment. Moisture and temperature in the environment are inclined to seriously affect the insulation tolerance of epoxy resin. This work focuses on the aging characteristics of epoxy resin in hygrothermal environment. Scanning electron microscopy images show that there are micro-crack, micro-slit and holes inside aged samples. The moisture absorption process undergoes three equilibrium stages and it does not follow the Fick's second law. Observing the change of hydrogen bonds in the infrared spectra of the dried samples, it is found that chemically moisture absorption immerges when the physical moisture absorption entered the third equilibrium stage. By Debye equation to fit the imaginary part of the dielectric constant, it is concluded that the uniformity of water molecule has a great influence on the electrical conductivity loss. Furthermore, the polarization loss can be more easily affected by water molecules than small free molecules. After the aged samples being dried, their real and imaginary part of the dielectric constant descend, but their original electrical properties cannot completely restored. After chemical moisture absorption appears inside the material, the residual space charges increase significantly and the charge dissipation rate slow down obviously.

Seismic behavior of steel tube reinforced concrete bridge columns

  • This paper reports an experimental study that was accomplished to assess the seismic behavior of steel tube reinforced concrete bridge columns (SBCs). The motivation of this study was to verify a supposition that the core steel tube may be terminated at a rational position in the column to minimize the material cost while maintaining the seismic behavior of this composite column. Four SBC specimens were tested under combined constant axial load and cyclic reversed lateral loads. The unique variable in the test matrix was the core steel tube embedment length, which ranged from 1/3 to 3/3 of the column effective height. It is observed that SBCs showed two distinctly different failure patterns, namely brittle shear failure and ductile flexural failure. Tests results indicate that the hysteretic responses of SBCs were susceptible to the core steel tube embedment length. With the increase of this structural parameter, the lateral strength of SBC was progressively improved; the deformability and ductility, however, exhibited a tendency of first increase and then decrease. It is also found that in addition to maintained the rate of stiffness degradation and cumulative energy dissipation basically unchanged, both the ductility and deformability of SBC were significantly improved when the core steel tube was terminated at the mid-height of the column, and these were the most unexpected benefits accompanied with material cost reduction.

둔체를 갖는 연소기에서 자려 연소 진동에 관한 수치해석 (Numerical Simulation of Self-excited Combustion Oscillation in a Dump Combustor with Bluff-body)

  • Combustion instability has been considered as very important issue for developing gas turbine and rocket engine. There is a need for fundamental understanding of combustion instability. In this study, combustion instability was numerically and experimentally investigated in a dump combustor with bluff body. The fuel and air mixture had overall equivalence ratio of 0.9 and was injected toward dump combustor. The pressure oscillation with approximately 256Hz was experimentally obtained. For numerical simulation, the standard k-$\varepsilon$ model was used for turbulence and the hybrid combustion model (eddy dissipation model and kinetically controlled model) was applied. After calculating steady solution, unsteady calculation was performed with forcing small perturbation on initial that solution. Pressure amplitude and frequency measured by pressure sensor is nearly the same as those predicted by numerical simulation. Furthermore, it is clear that a combustion instability involving vortex shedding is affected by acoustic-vortex-combustion interaction. The phase difference between the pressure and velocity is $\pi$/2, and that between the pressure and heat release rate is in excitation range described by Rayleigh, which is obvious that combustion instability for the bluff body combustor meets thermoacoustic instability criterion.

메탄-수소 대향류확산화염에서 H2와 H의 선호확산을 통한 화학적 효과에 관한 연구 (A Study on Chemical Effecta Through Preferential Diffusion of H2 and H in CH4-H2 Counterflow Diffusion Flames)

  • Numerical study on preferential diffusion effects in flame structure in $CH_4-H_2$ diffusion flames is conducted with detailed chemistry. Comparison of flame structures with mixture-averaged species diffusion and suppression of the diffusivities of $H_2$ and H was made. Discernible differences in flame structures are displayed with three species diffusion models. The behaviors of maximum flame temperatures with those species diffusion models are not explained by scalar dissipation rate but by the nature of chemical kinetics. It is seen that the modifcation of flame structure is mainly due to the preferential diffusion of H2 and thereby the nature of chemical kinetics. It is also found that the behaviors of major species with the three species diffusion models are addressed to the nature of chemical kinetics, and this is evident by examining importantly contributing reaction steps to the production and destruction of those chemical species.

Time-resolved Observation of Field-dependent Magnetization Reversal Behavior in Co/Pd Multilayer Film

  • We report the experimental finding that there exists a transition of magnetization reversal process with varying the applied field in Co/Pd multilayer. We have measured the wall-motion speed V and the nucleation rate R during magnetization reversal via time-resolved direct domain observation, where the magnetization reversal process of Co/Pd multilayer is found to take a transition from thermal activation process to viscous process at the critical field of about 1.87 H$\_$C/ (coercivity). In the thermal activation regime, we find that the field dependences of two activation volumes for the wall-motion process and the nucleation process are different with each other, which reveals that the wall-motion and nucleation experience completely different interactions. In the viscous regime, we find that the wall-mobility is much smaller than a typical value for the sandwiched Co films, which implies that the Co/Pd interfaces in multilayer substantially contribute to the dynamic dissipation.

선박의 저항성능 추정을 위한 EARSM 난류 모형의 활용 (Numerical Prediction of Ship Hydrodynamic Performances using Explicit Algebraic Reynolds Stress Turbulence Model)

  • In this study, Explicit Algebraic Reynolds Stress Model (EARSM) which is based on the existing ${\kappa}-{\omega}$ model has been applied to the flow field analysis around ship hulls. Existing transport equations for the turbulent kinetic energy and the dissipation rate are used in almost the same form and anisotropy terms of Reynolds stresses are newly considered. The well-known KVLCC2 and KCS hull forms are selected as validation cases, which were also used in 2010 Workshop on CFD in Ship Hydrodynamics. In case of KVLCC2 double model, comparison of mean velocity distribution, turbulent kinetic energy, and Reynolds stresses near the propeller plane has been carried out and wave elevation and wave profiles have been additionally studied for KCS and KVLCC2 with free surface models. Some improved results for mean velocity distribution at the propeller plane have been obtained while there is little change in free surface wave profiles.
