In this paper, we investigated the relations between dispersion of CNTs (carbon nanotubes) and electrical conductivity in the CNT/PVDF (polyvinylidene fluoride) composite film. By adding hydrophobic CNTs as filler into the PVDF matrix, we fabricated hydrophobic and electrically conducting polymer coating film. Dispersion of CNTs in the CNT/PVDF composite film plays a significant role in terms of electrical conductivity and wetting property. Spray coating method was used to form the CNT/PVDF composite films by injecting the dispersed CNTs in the PVDF solution with different weight ratios from 0.7 wt% to 7 wt%. We investigated the electrical properties and contact angles of the CNT/PVDF composite films with the CNT concentration. Finally we discussed the conducting mechanism and feasibility of the CNT/PVDF composite film for the conducting polymer films.
To predict the oil-spill dispersion in marine waters, the oil-spill dispersion model based on Lagrangian particle-tracking method was developed and applied to Kwangyang and Jinju Bay. The tidal current movements to be required as input data of the oil-spill dispersion model were obtained by a two-dimensional numerical tidal model. Evaluation of tidal current movements using mean tide was successful. Modelling results were compared with the field data obtained at spill site. There were some descrepancies between modeling results and field data. However, the general pattern of modelling results was similar to that of field data. Provided the real-time tidal currents and more accurate wind data are supported, more favorable results can be obtained.
Numerical prediction of the pollutant dispersion over a two-dimensional hilly terrain is presented. The dispersion model used in the present work is based on the gradient diffusion theory and the finite-volume method on a non-orthogonal boundary-fitted grid system. The numerical model is validated by comparing the results with the available experimental data for the flat-floor dispersion within a turbulent boundary-layer. The numerical error analysis is performed based on the guideline of Kasibhatla et al.(1988) for the elevated-source dispersion in the flat-floor boundary layer having a power-law velocity and linear eddy-diffusivity profile. The influences of the two-dimensional hilly terrain on the dispersion from a continuously released source are numerically investigated by changing the emission locations and heights. It is found that the distributions of ground-level concentration are strongly influenced by the source location and the emission height. Hence, the terrain amplification factor is greatly enhanced when the pollutant source is located within a flow separation region. Dispersion from a source of short duration is also simulated and the duration time of the pollutant is compared at several downstream locations on a hilly terrain. The results of the numerical prediction are applied to the evaluation of environmental impacts due to the automobile exhausts at the seashore highway with a parallel mountain range.
We prepared solid dispersion formulations of quercetin to enhance its solubility and dissolution rate. Various quercetin-loaded solid dispersion were tested with quercetin, poloxamer 407, and carrier such as hydroxypropyl methyl cellulose (HPMC), polyethylene glycol 8000 (PEG 8000), and polyvinylpyrrolidone K40 (PVP K40) using solvent evaporation and freeze drying methods in terms of both the aqueous solubility and the dissolution rates of quercetin. The solubility of quercetin as its solid dispersion formulations was markedly improved compared with that of quercetin powder. Especially, highest solubility of quercetin was observed when HPMC was used as a carrier. The cumulative dissolution of quercetin within 360 min from solid dispersion composed of quercetin, poloxamer 407, and HPMC was 8.8-fold higher than the dissolution of pure quercetin. The results of powder X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscope (SEM) indicated that quercetin transformed from a crystalline to an amorphous form through the solid dispersion formulation process. These results suggest that the solid dispersion formulation of quercetin with poloxamer 407 and HPMC could be a promising option for enhancing the solubility and dissolution rate of quercetin.
The purpose of this study is to estimate efficiently an odor dispersion from waste treatment facility for a crematory and a neighborhood facility, then propose planning, a location of an opening or the arrangement of the trees. Hence, offer a comfortable environment for a resident. For this, first the research data about estimating odor dispersion from waste treatment facility and odor are analyzed, then research an ingredient, characteristic, a direct effect for human and a method of measurement. Second, with on-site survey, check odorimetry and the source of odor dispersion, then apply this to the boundary condition of CFD simulation. Third, analyse by the hour for the 2008 standard weather data of Cheon-an, then apply summer data that odor dispersion is active, winter data relatively slow and an annual mean velocity and wind to the simulation. Even if a crematory and neighborhood facility located on south and north from waste treatment facility are at the low rate, the south and north wind will be applied to the simulation. Fourth, with CFD simulation result, predict an odor dispersion, then propose a solution which is considered an odor dispersion, a location of an opening and the arrangement of the trees. Consequently, this study will have an effect on an environment of a resident.
Adefovir dipivoxil which was originally developed by Gilead Sciences has been used as treatments of HIV and HBV, especially a therapeutics for HBeAg positive and negative chronic patients. We developed highly efficient purification method using reverse phase column chromatography for mass production and a stable amorphous Adefovir dipivoxil using solid dispersion method. Reverse phase column chromatography led to highly pure product, more than 99.7% by HPLC and can be used for mass production compared with normal column chromatography. Solid dispersion method containing watersoluble polymer and Isomalt showed improved stability of amorphous Adefovir dipivoxil against heat and moisture.
This study aimed to confirm the effect of molecular weight (MW) in solid dispersion of carvedilol with poly-vinylpyrrolidone (PVP) of various MW. Solid dispersion of carvedilol with PVP was prepared by spray-drying method. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) was used to analyze the surface of solid dispersion samples. Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and X-ray diffraction (XRD) were used to analyze the crystalline of solid dispersion. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) was used to analyze the change of chemical structure characteristic of solid dispersion. DSC and XRD show that drug crystalline was changed. FT-IR revealed that chemical structure of solid dispersion comparing the chemical structure of drug was changed. The dissolution studies of solid dispersion presented at simulated gastric juice (pH 1.2). The dissolution rate of solid dispersion was dramatically enhanced than pure drug and the MW of PVP has an effect on the release property of carvedilol in solid dispersion. In conclusion, the present study has confirmed the effect of MW of PVP on release property of solid dispersion formulation of carvedilol with PVP.
A universal dispersion equation for magnetostatic waves(MSW) propagating in the film with arbitrary-multiple magnetic layers magnetized in an arbitrary direction was derived with a matching boundary condition method. The computing result curves of delay time were shown.
