Seismic Scenario Simulation and Its Applications on Risk Management in Taiwan

  • This paper introduces various kinds of applications of the scenario-based seismic risk assessment in Taiwan. Seismic scenario simulation (SSS) is a GIS-based technique to assess distribution of ground shaking intensity, soil liquefaction probability, building damages and associated casualties, interruption of lifeline systems, economic losses, etc. given source parameters of an earthquake. The SSS may integrate with rapid earthquake information release system to obtain valuable information and to assist in decision-making processes to dispatch rescue and medical resources efficiently. The SSS may also integrate with probabilistic seismic hazard analysis to evaluate various kinds of risk estimates, such as average annual loss and probable maximum loss in one event, in a probabilistic sense and to help proposing feasible countermeasures.

  • The power system automation, especially the substation automation is a major issue. so it has been widely studied each country in the world. Since the substation system includes lots of measuring devices. a lot of data and system information are transmitted to operators. The measured values usually have the error that results from the communication process, and it can degrade the reliability of estimated values. So. the detection and correction of measured values at a substation are important factors for substation automation. In this paper, we study the detection and col of measured values at the domestic 154kV/2 distribution substation of double bus structure study will be useful for expected economic dispatch measuring device's inspection and corr management by SCADA system operation, substation automation.

  • The basic purpose of economic dispatch problem is that minimize fuel cost with inequality constraint of generator output. To solve this problem it is very important to express power loss equation that have quadratic function of generator output power included B-coefficient. This Paper presents a method in determining B-coefficient by use A-matrix that is calculated by loss re-distribution algorithm (LRDA) considering voltage dependent load model (VDLM)s. The Proposed algorithm is tested with IEEE 6 bus sample system, which shows the result in each cases by the change of load component factor.

Applications of Seismic Disaster Simulation Technology on Risk Management

  • This paper introduces the applications of Taiwan Earthquake Loss Estimation System (TELES), which is developed by the National Center for Research on Earthquake Engineering (NCREE). Seismic disaster simulation technology (SDST) integrates geographical information system to assess the distribution of ground shaking intensity, ground failure probability, building damages, casualties, post-quake fires, debris, lifeline interruptions, economic losses, etc. given any set of seismic source parameters. The SDST may integrate with Taiwan Rapid Earthquake Information Release System (TREIRS) developed by Central Weather Bureau (CWB) to obtain valuable information soon after large earthquakes and to assist in decision-making processes to dispatch rescue and medical resources more efficiently. The SDST may also integrate with probabilistic seismic source model to evaluate various kinds of risk estimates, such as average annual loss, probable maximum loss in one event, and exceeding probability curves of various kinds of losses, to help proposing feasible countermeasures and risk management strategies.

해군 함정 VRTU의 과열방지를 위한 열전소자 냉각장치의 적용에 따른 기관실 및 VRTU 내부 열 유동특성 분석 (An Analysis of the Thermal Flow Characteristics in Engine-Room and VTRU in accordance with Application of Thermoelectric Device Cooling System to Prevent Overheating of the Korean Navy Ship VRTU)

  • 본 연구에서는 대한민국 해군 함정의 하절기 운용 및 적도지병 파병 간 발생하고 있는 VRTU 과열로 인한 고온경보 발생과 장비정지 발생현상을 해결하기 위하여 해군 군수사령부 함정기술연구소와 공동연구를 수행하였다. 열전소자 냉각장치 설치에 따른 냉각효과를 확인하고, 전산 열 유동해석을 수행하여 VRTU 내부 열 유동특성을 분석하였다. 또 해석을 통해 기관실(디젤엔진룸) 내부의 온도분포를 살펴보고 VRTU 과열방지를 위한 최적의 설치위치를 알아보았다. 분석결과, 냉각장치를 설치함에 따라 VRTU 내부 평균 체적온도가 약 10 ℃ 감소하는 것을 확인하였으며 냉각장치에 설치된 Fan은 열 순환을 원활하게 하여 냉각효과를 높였다. 기관실 내부는 디젤엔진 상부에서 높은 온도분포를 나타냈고 통풍관 디퓨저 하부에서 가장 낮은 온도분포를 보였다. 열전소자 냉각장치는 높은 냉각성능을 나타내었으며, VRTU는 과열방지를 위하여 기관실의 통풍관 디퓨저 하부에 설치하는 것이 적절할 것으로 판단된다.

BPSK 모드를 사용하는 원격제어 장치의 위상잡음 스펙트럼 분포 설계 (Phase noise spectrum distribution design of remote controller using BPSK mode)

  • 본 논문에서는 BPSK 변조 방식과 50 kbps 저속 데이터 전송모드를 사용하는 원격제어 장치의 위상잡음 스펙트럼 분포를 설계하고 제시하였다. FSK 전송 방식보다 전송 성능이 우수한 BPSK 방식을 적용할 경우, 위상잡음에 의한 열화가 발생한다. 위상잡음에 의한 열화를 최소화하기 위해서는 요구 위상잡음을 갖는 채널 환경에서 신호를 전송하는 것이 중요하다. 요구 위상잡음 환경에 적합한 채널 환경 및 단말 장치 구현을 위하여 요구 성능을 만족하는 위상잡음 스펙트럼 분포를 설계한다. 위상잡음 설계 파라미터인 감쇠 정수와 잡음 대역폭에 대한 위상잡음 영향도를 해석하고 위상잡음 스펙트럼 분포 설계 파라미터로 적용하였다. IESS-308 위상잡음 특성을 기준으로 위상잡음 영향을 분석하고, 원격제어 장치에 적합한 위상잡음 스펙트럼 분포도와 설계 방법을 제시하였다.

Coordinated Voltage and Reactive Power Control Strategy with Distributed Generator for Improving the Operational Efficiency

  • This study proposes a voltage and reactive coordinative control strategy with distributed generator (DG) in a distribution power system. The aim is to determine the optimum dispatch schedules for an on-load tap changer (OLTC), distributed generator settings and all shunt capacitor switching on the load and DG generation profile in a day. The proposed method minimizes the real power losses and improves the voltage profile using squared deviations of bus voltages. The results indicate that the proposed method reduces the real losses and voltage fluctuations and improve receiving power factor. This paper proposes coordinated voltage and reactive power control methods that adjust optimal control values of capacitor banks, OLTC, and the AVR of DGs by using a voltage sensitivity factor (VSF) and dynamic programming (DP) with branch-and-bound (B&B) method. To avoid the computational burden, we try to limit the possible states to 24 stages by using a flexible searching space at each stage. Finally, we will show the effectiveness of the proposed method by using operational cost of real power losses and voltage deviation factor as evaluation index for a whole day in a power system with distributed generators.

  • This study is to find out how community facilities of 10-year public rental apartments are currently managed and to propose a new community program management plan by analyzing key characteristics and program needs of tenants. Site visits and questionnaire surveys have been conducted at five different complexes producing 469 results that can be summarized as follows; 1) There were significant differences in the use of facilities and vitality of community among five complexes depending on tenants' participation and efforts of management staff. It was advisable to dispatch specialists, such as housing welfare workers, who were dedicated to managing facilities and supporting community programs; 2) There were high demanded for communication facilitation programs and environmental activities. Development of communication contents and distribution of manuals to inform and educate tenants about various environmental programs will be helpful; 3) The number of community facilities in each complex should be reduced those with high demand and the regional community center should be more vitalized with supporting programs and staff.

Microgrid energy scheduling with demand response

  • Distributed energy resources (DERs) are essential for coping with growing multiple energy demands. A microgrid (MG) is a small-scale version of the power system which makes possible the integration of DERs as well as achieving maximum demand-side management utilization. Hence, this study focuses on the analysis of optimal power dispatch considering economic aspects in a multi-carrier microgrid (MCMG) with price-responsive loads. This paper proposes a novel time-based demand-side management in order to reshape the load curve, as well as preventing the excessive use of energy in peak hours. In conventional studies, energy consumption is optimized from the perspective of each infrastructure user without considering the interactions. Here, the interaction of energy system infrastructures is considered in the presence of energy storage systems (ESSs), small-scale energy resources (SSERs), and responsive loads. Simulations are performed using GAMS (General Algebraic modeling system) to model MCMG, which are connected to the electricity, natural gas, and district heat networks for supplying multiple energy demands. Results show that the simultaneous operation of various energy carriers, as well as utilization of price-responsive loads, lead to better MCMG performance and decrease operating costs for smart distribution grids. This model is examined on a typical MCMG, and the effectiveness of the proposed model is proven.

  • 에너지 소비 구조의 개선을 목적으로 한 자연에너지 이용시스템의 도입이 전력 계통의 계획 운용에 미치는 영향을 다목적 최적화 방법을 이용하여 평가하는 방법이 논하여 지고 있다. 본 연구에서는 시험 제작한 태양열과 풍력 에너지를 주체로하는 자연에너지 복합 이용시스템이 특정 지역에 복수 도입되어 지는 경우 전력 통계 운용에 의한 경제성, 안정성, 환경에 대한 영향 평가 방법을 검토하였다. 연구 방법은 대상 지역의 일사 분포와 풍속 분포에 의해서 취득 가능한 에너지를 산정하여 전력 계통 부하의 형상에 미치는 영향을 구하였고, 다음에는 대상 기간에 의한 최적 발전 배분을 결정하여 경제성, 안정성, 환경 지표 등의 평가를 하였다. 지금까지는 자연에너지 이용시스템의 도입에 대하여 경제적 측면만 논의되었지만, 본 연구에서 제한된 방법에 의해 안정성과 환경 보전의 영향을 고려한 평가 방법도 가능하다는 것을 나타내었다.
