Recently, hate crime is emerging as a new social problem in Korea, as well as in many countries, as a growing number of cases of aversion to specific groups including people with disabilities. This paper was to review the concept and current status of hate crime in order to notify the seriousness of increasing hate crime, especially hate crime against persons with disabilities. Finally, This paper proposed some suggestions from the welfare point of persons with disabilities in terms of how to reduce these crimes utilizing the reports of related organizations and newspapers as well as relevant national and international studies.

This study intend to provide basic evidence needed to improve the life satisfaction of disabled children and youth by analyzing factors to influence on their life satisfaction. To accomplish this study's goal, raw data of Survey of Disabled People in 2014 conducted by the Ministry of Health and Welfare was utilized for multiple regression analysis to identify determining factors among family relation satisfaction, domestic violence, type of household, economical conditions, family relationship satisfaction, subjective health status, severity of disability, experience of discrimination, satisfaction on number of friends and school adjustment on 197 disabled children's life satisfaction. Results of the analysis are as follows. Domestic violence, family relationship satisfaction, subjective health status, and satisfaction on number of friends are influencing factors on life satisfaction of disabled children's and youth students. This results shows that strengthening family structure and function, expanding all family members participating program, implementing sociability improvement program and promoting health condition are needed to heighten the life satisfaction of students with disabilities.

This study is on understanding the reality of disabled seniors and investigation of factors that affect overall life satisfaction, making a proposal to improve their life quality. Situation data for the disabled, gathered by Korea Institute for Health and Social Affairs (KIHASA) in 2014, was used to perform the study, and the target group is 3,181 people with disability, above the age of 65. Descriptive statistics was presented for data analysis and logistic regression analysis was performed to investigate factors that affect life satisfaction. It was concluded from the analysis that gender, age, presence of spouse (demographic factors), house income, possession of house, presence of pensioner, registration to public pension plan, social discrimination (social-economical factors), level of disability, subjective health status, level of help needed for daily living, presence of care-giver, sufficiency of help, ability to go out by oneself, difficulty of using public transportations, and presence of medical checkups (disability and health factors.) make meaningful effects to life satisfaction of disabled seniors. Based on the derived results, this study suggests intensive interests and care-giving service for disabled seniors that live alone, institutional complementations to guarantee income security, including public or private pensions, improvements to social recognition and environments for discrimination of the disabled, organization of health and medical treatment service and health care system, comprehensive service provision to social welfare for both the disabled and seniors, and comprehensive service provision to both health care and social welfare.

The purpose of this study is to substantially understand and identify experienced social exclusion of the disabled in Korea. For this, the 8 times in focus interview implemented on 31 of the disabled with regard to disability type, gender, age, education, job etc. The results, firstly it found that participants experienced material deprivation due to inequality on economic distributions, and the multi-deprivation of social rights overall social systems and scopes resulted from the disability discrimination against the organization of society. Nextly, it represented that they got the exclusion from social participation and isolation and alienation in social relationships in the dimension of society. In that, particularly, a sort of invisible type of social exclusion such as an intolerant and double social norm and values is found, which has been impacted on their impairment or disability in the participants. This founded results contribute on applying fundamental data for political and practical implementations for social inclusion of the disabled, as well as theoretical building for conception of social exclusion of the disabled.

This study aimed to analyze characteristics and factors affecting of depression by households type of elderly with disabilities. Data were analyzed using chi-square test, logistic regression analyses according to the PSED. Data were 608 individuals. First, The one-person households group showed significantly female, non-capital, severe disorder, lower health status, lower economic level, higher help for daily life, higher experience of discrimination, lower satisfaction with relationship, lower participation in social activities. Second, Factors affecting depression included experience of discrimination, participation in social activities. Multi-person group included gender, occupied area, health status, economic level and one-person group were help for daily life. In order to reduce depression, it is necessary to reduce experience of discrimination, improve awareness of disability, health care, economic supports and so on. This study is meaningful in that it classifies households types. In the future, there is a need to longitudinal studies.

This study aims to overcome the limitations of prior studies that have failed to take into account the impact of psycho-social factors on the employment of people with disabilities as well as the differences in employment by life stage. This study employs a research model that includes psycho-social factors along with human capital to examine how the determinants of employment differ for the disabled by life stage. The analysis in this study takes the form of logistic regression, using data from the fifth wave of the Korea Welfare Panel Survey. Analysis results show that the employment probability of young people with disabilities is significantly associated with their experience of discrimination, with their chance of employment decreasing when they have more experience of discrimination. Middle-aged people with disabilities are more likely to be employed when they have a lower level of education, a better health condition and a higher level of labor ability. For the disabled elderly, their labor ability is the only factor affecting their possibility of employment; they have a higher chance of getting a job when they have a higher level of labor ability.

Since April last year when "the disability discrimination act" became effective in Korea, public libraries in Korea have been obligated to provide library service to the disabled. But most of public libraries in Korea do not and are not ready to service them. After finding out the characteristics of Korean disabled people and investigating current state of services for them in the public libraries of Korea by analyzing related statistics and laws, suggestions for the enhancement of public library service for disabled people in Korea were proposed.

According to the statistics revealed by Bank of Korea on March, 2007, Internet banking transactions outnumbered face-to-face banking services in Korea. Internet banking is becoming essential in every financial service sectors. For people with disabilities, Internet banking is more meaningful because they do not need to visit the bank, thereby saving inconvenient trips. Governments in many countries are working on setting standards and laws on the web accessibility for people with disabilities. Korea government enacted Korea Disability Discrimination Act in 2007. This paper examined the web accessibility compliance of Internet banking sites. Twenty one Internet banking sites were selected from the list in the Korea Federation of Banks's Web sites. We examined four major checkpoints that are considered crucial among the fourteen checkpoints in "Internet Web Contents Accessibility Guidelines" which was amended by Ministry of the information and Communication in 2005. The results showed that all of the twenty one Internet banking sites didn't meet the four major checkpoint requirements. Moreover, only one banking site satisfied alt-text requirement that is considered the most fundamental among the checkpoints.

The handicapped as a member of a society should possess the same opportunity of a perfect participation in public affairs and an equal opportunity in parity of treatment. All sorts of physical and social barriers surrounding the handicapped who can not having a impairment and disability give a less chance to have a share in their society. Therefore, this discrimination barriers must be phased off not only by handicapped but also by normal social members so as to perfect and free access to movement, all of social institution and social activities. Therefor, this paper provides a basic data which conducts investigation and analysis on the outdoor access environment for the handicapped's easy access to public building or facilities. It would be most import rules to make a decision between improvement rate and object for public building or public facilities.

The purpose of this study is to suggest the potential domestic and international market conditions vehicles for people with disabilities through a review of the literature and internet resources, and to propose a road map developing South Korean vehicles for people with disabilities taking into consideration the current state of domestic and international technology and the usage of the vehicles for people with disabilities depending on the type of disability. The results of the study are as follows: First, vehicles for people with disabilities safety standards of South Korea do not meet the safety standards of developed countries and the technology of development related vehicles for people with disabilities is not as advanced as that of developed countries. Vehicles for people with disabilities installation methods, specifications, features and safety standards should be designed to be more similar to those of Japan and the United States. Second, vehicle modifications for people with disabilities will become more common as measures directed at promoting the welfare of people with disabilities, such as travel and transportation measures, employment opportunities, education, and funding for vehicle modifications, are implemented along with laws, such as The Americans with Disabilities Act, The British Disability Discrimination Act, and Japan's barrier-free transport law, that protect people with disabilities generally. Third, through a comparative analysis of domestic and international market conditions and demands of people with disabilities in vehicle modifications, important things to pay attention by purchasing a modified vehicle for people with disabilities are the employment rate for people with disabilities and monthly income. To enable this, government agencies and industry bodies should work together through the revision of the current Disability Welfare Act or the enactment of the special law for guiding principles of Disability Welfare Act. Through the future changes in vehicles for people with disabilities-related system or society of South Korean, the annual demand of the vehicles is expected to be more than 10,000.
