  • For an intelligent vehicle driving which uses magnetic markers and magnetic sensors, we can get every kind of road information while moving the vehicle if we use the code that is encoded with N, S pole direction of markers. If we make it an only aim to move the vehicle, it becomes easy to control the vehicle the more we put markers close. By the way, to recognize the direction of a marker pole it is much better that the markers have no effect each other. To get road informations and move the vehicle autonomously we propose the methods of arranging magnetic sensors and algorithm of recognizing the position of the vehicle with those sensors. We verified the effectiveness of the methods with computer simulation.

  • The 3-dimensional flow field has been investigated by numerical analysis in a 2.5MW wind turbine blade. Complicated and separated flaw phenomena in the wind turbine blade were captured by the Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes(RANS) steady flaw simulation using general-purpose code, CFX and the mechanism of vortex structure behavior is elucidated. The vortical flow field in a wind turbine rotor is dominated by the tip vortex and hub separation vortex. The tip vortex starts to be formed near the blade tip leading edge. As the tip vortex develops in the tangential direction, interacting with boundary layer from the blade tip trailing edge. The hub separation vortex is generated near the blade hub leading edge and develops nearly in the span-wise direction. Furthermore, 3-dimensional blade tip shape has been designed for increasing shrift power and reducing thrust force on the wind turbine blade. It is expected that the behavior of the tip vortex and hub separation vortex plays a major role in aerodynamic and aeroacoustic characteristics.

  • Most web documents are written in Cartesian coordinates, so the study of vertical arrangement of text has been well organized, while the study of circular arrangement is very early. With the recent development of circular display devices, the demand for circular arrangement of texts is increasing. Thus, we proposed a CSS3 extended specification of polar coordinate layout for the circular placement of text. First, we defined the concept of fan model for the text arrangement in polar coordinate which is corresponding to box model in Cartesian coordinate. And, we described new definition on the directions of sentence, paragraph and text orientation in polar coordinate. Based on this new definitions, we developed the extended specification consisting of three parts. A part for setting the fan model, a part for setting directions, and a part for setting typesetting properties. To verify the feasibility of the proposed specification in current web browsers, a preprocessor was developed and sample contents were examined. We compared the code length of the sample contents implemented using other JavaScript library CssWarp.js so as to verify the efficiency of the proposed specification.

  • Many studies on the application of stainless steels as structural materials in buildings and infra-structures have been performed thanks to superior characteristics of corrosion resistance, fire resistance and aesthetic appeal. Experimental investigation to estimate the ultimate strength and fracture mode of the fillet-welded connections of cold-formed austenitic stainless steel (STS304L) with better intergranular corrosion resistance than that of austenitic stainless steel, STS304 commonly used has carried out by authors. Specimens were fabricated to fail by base metal fracture not weld metal fracture with main variables of weld lengths according to loading direction. All specimens showed a block shear fracture mode. In this paper, finite element analysis model was developed to predict the ultimate behaviors of welded connection and its validity was verified through the comparison with test results. Since the block shear behavior of welded connection due to stress triaxiality and shear-lag effects is different from that of bolted connection, stress and strain distributions in the critical path of tensile and shear fracture section were investigated. Test and analysis strengths were compared with those by current design specifications such as AISC, EC3 and existing researcher's proposed equations. In addition, through parametric analysis with extended variables, the conditions of end distance and longitudinal weld length for block shear fracture and tensile fracture were suggested.

  • Accident prevention is more important than follow-up, which is based on Heinrich's law. The marine incident system is a very meaningful system that can prevent similar accidents, and was introduced in 2010 in Korea in accordance with the enforcement of the Code for the Investigation of Marine Casualties and Incidents (CI Code). Based on the CI Code, ship owners or ship operators are required to notify the Central Chief Inspector using the designated notification form in the event of a marine incident, but the number of voluntary notifications is still small. In this regard, this study intends to provide a direction for improvement by conducting an in-depth analysis focusing on the lack of notification procedures and forms of the marine incident system. To this end, we analyzed related regulations, cases of excellent overseas shipping countries such as the United Kingdom and Singapore, cases of similar domestic transportation systems such as aviation and railways, and marine incident notification procedures and forms of leading shipping companies. Major improvements in the notification process include the transition of the marine incidents to voluntary reporting, the expansion of the reporting subjects, and the identification of the security of the informer's identity. The main contents of the notification form revision include the use of the term "reporting" instead of "notification," the content of the identity guarantee in the notification form, and the increase in statistical value through the expansion of optional entries.

  • Blast-induced ground vibrations by a significant amount of explosives may cause many problems for mining slope stability. Geological discontinuities have a significant influence on the transmission of dynamic pressure of detonation and according to their position relative to the slope face may have damaging or useful impacts on the slope stability. In this study, the effect of geological discontinuities was investigated by modelling a slope with geological discontinuities through applying the dynamic pressure in three-dimensional discrete element code (3DEC). The geological discontinuities in four states that generally apperceived in mine slopes are considered. Given the advantages of the pressure decay function defined by some researcher, this type of function was used to develop the pressure-time profile. The peak particle velocities (PPV) values were monitored along an axis by utilization of Fish programming language and the results were used as an indicator to measure the effects. As shown in the discontinuity-free model, PPV empirical models are reliable in rocks lacking discontinuities or tightly jointed rock masses. According to the other results, the empirical models cannot be used for the case where the rock mass contains discontinuities with any direction or dip. With regard to PPVs, when the direction of discontinuities is opposite to that of the slope face, the dynamic pressure of detonation is significantly damped toward the slope direction at the surface of discontinuities. On the other hand, when the discontinuities are horizontal, the dynamic pressure of detonation affects the rock mass to a large distance.

  • In this paper, the tensile failure behaviour of transversally bedding layers was numerically simulated by using particle flow code in two dimensions. Firstly, numerical model was calibrated by uniaxial, Brazilian and triaxial experimental results to ensure the conformity of the simulated numerical model's response. Secondly, 21 circular models with diameter of 54 mm were built. Each model contains two transversely bedding layers. The first bedding layer has low mechanical properties, less than mechanical properties of intact material, and second bedding layer has high mechanical properties, more than mechanical properties of intact material. The angle of first bedding layer, with weak mechanical properties, related to loading direction was $0^{\circ}$, $15^{\circ}$, $30^{\circ}$, $45^{\circ}$, $60^{\circ}$, $75^{\circ}$ and $90^{\circ}$ while the angle of second layer, with high mechanical properties, related to loading direction was $90^{\circ}$, $105^{\circ}$, $120^{\circ}$, $135^{\circ}$, $150^{\circ}$, $160^{\circ}$ and $180^{\circ}$. Is to be note that the angle between bedding layer was $90^{\circ}$ in all bedding configurations. Also, three different pairs of the thickness was chosen in models; i.e., 5 mm/10 mm, 10 mm/10 mm and 20 mm/10 mm. The result shows that In all configurations, shear cracks develop between the weaker bedding layers. Shear cracks angel related to normal load change from $0^{\circ}$ to $90^{\circ}$ with increment of $15^{\circ}$. Numbers of shear cracks are constant by increasing the bedding thickness. It's to be note that in some configuration, tensile cracks develop through the intact area of material model. There is not any failure in direction of bedding plane interface with higher strength.

  • The purpose of this paper is a design and implementation for korean character and pen-gesture recognition system in multimedia terminal, PDA and etc, which demand both a fast process and a high recognition rate. To recognize writing-types which are written by various users, the korean character recognition system uses a database which is based on the characteristic information of korean and the stroke information Which composes a phoneme, etc. In addition. it has a fast speed by the phoneme segmentation which uses the successive process or the backtracking process. The pen-gesture recognition system is performed by a matching process between the classification features extracted from an input pen-gesture and the classification features of 15 pen-gestures types defined in the gesture model. The classification feature is using the insensitive stroke information. i.e., the positional relation between two strokes. the crossing number, the direction transition, the direction vector, the number of direction code. and the distance ratio between starting and ending point in each stroke. In the experiment, we acquired a high recognition rate and a fart speed.

  • The aim of this study was to suggest the future direction of diagnostic and evaluative pattern identification questionnaire (PIQ) by reviewing the state of development and utilization of PIQ according to Korean classification of disease-U (KCD-U). We surveyed the database of OASIS, NDSL, KISS, DBPIA, and Pub-med to know the kinds of developed and developing PIQ of Korean medicine. We used 'Pattern Identification' and 'Questionnaire' to find suitable papers. The inclusion criteria met 47 cases. The number of PIQ before 2000yrs, between 2001 to 2005, 2006-2010, 2011-2015 were 2, 5, 18, 22cases. The number of PIQ belonged to the disease of Korean medicine, the pathological symptom of korean medicine, the Sasang constitutional pattern identification and etc according to KCD-U were 20(42.6%), 8(17%), 9(19.1%) and 10(21.3%). Twenties among forty seven PIQ were validated, and the rest of them were not validated. The distribution of the numbers of PIQ were significantly different according to KCD-U (p=0.003). The direction of Utilization of PIQ was 36 questionnaires in diagnosing PI, 14 cases in evaluating health state, 4cases in evaluating effects of a treatment and 8 ones in diagnosing Sasang constitutional types. This study reveals the status on validated and non-validated PIQ of Korean medicine and suggests the basic information for the direction of developing PIQ in the future.
