  • By using ionic liquid 1-hexylpyridinium hexafluorophosphate ($HPPF_6$) based carbon ionic liquid electrode (CILE) as the substrate electrode, a $CoMoO_4$ nanorods and myoglobin (Mb) composite was casted on the surface of CILE with chitosan (CTS) as the film forming material to obtain the modified electrode (CTS/$CoMoO_4$-Mb/CILE). Spectroscopic results indicated that Mb retained its native structures without any conformational changes after mixed with $CoMoO_4$ nanorods and CTS. Electrochemical behaviors of Mb on the electrode were carefully investigated by cyclic voltammetry with a pair of well-defined redox peaks from the heme Fe(III)/Fe(II) redox center of Mb appeared, which indicated that direct electron transfer between Mb and CILE was realized. Electrochemical parameters such as the electron transfer number (n), charge transfer coefficient (${\alpha}$) and electron transfer rate constant ($k_s$) were estimated by cyclic voltammetry with the results as 1.09, 0.53 and 1.16 $s^{-1}$, respectively. The Mb modified electrode showed good electrocatalytic ability toward the reduction of trichloroacetic acid in the concentration range from 0.1 to 32.0 mmol $L^{-1}$ with the detection limit as 0.036 mmol $L^{-1}$ ($3{\sigma}$), and the reduction of $H_2O_2$ in the concentration range from 0.12 to 397.0 ${\mu}mol\;L^{-1}$ with the detection limit as 0.0426 ${\mu}mol\;L^{-1}$ ($3{\sigma}$).

  • In this study, a reinforced clay model based on the limit equilibrium of forces under direct shear was proposed to predict shear strength increase in clays induced by the steel inclusion. The model accounted for the effects of orientation of inclusion, length, bonding stress between clay and indclusion and passive soil resistance 1 induced by the inclusion movement, on the behavior of reinforced clays. In order to compare with the theoretical predictions, direct shear tests were performed using a direct shear apparatus formed of an open shear box. Also pull-out tests were conducted to determine the bonding stress between the inclusion and clay. From the experimental results, the increase or decrease in shear strength of reinforced clay samples was found to depend on the orientation of inclusionas well as water content of clay samples. From the comparison of theoretical predictions and experimental results, it was found that the theore tical model predicted reasonably well the influence of orientation of the inclusion as well as passive soil resistance induced by the inclusion movement on the mechanical behavior of reinforced clays.

  • Direct air capture (DAC) technology plays a crucial role in mitigating climate change. Reports from the International Energy Agency and climate change emphasize its significance, aiming to limit global warming to 1.5 ℃ despite continuous carbon emissions. Despite initial costs, DAC technology demonstrates potential for cost reductions through research and development, operational learning, and economies of scale. Recent advancements in high-permeance polymer membranes indicate the potential of membrane-based DAC technology. However, effective separation of CO2 from ambient air requires membranes with high selectivity and permeability to CO2. Current research is focusing on membrane optimization to enhance CO2 capture efficiency. This study underscores the importance of direct air capture, evolving cost trends, and the pivotal role of membrane development in climate change mitigation efforts. Additionally, this research delved into the theoretical background, conditions, composition, advantages, and disadvantages of permeance and selectivity in membrane-based DAC.

  • The existing remote control system have some inherent disadvantage of direct control in the limit range. In some special cases, for example, a power apparatus, an unmanned factory, a nuclear factory, a security management system, the tele-operation is needed to control remote robot without limit space. This field is based on the Internet communication. Because the Internet is constructed all over the world. And it is possible that we control remote mobile robot in the long distance. In this paper, we developed a remote control system. This system is divided into two primary parts. These are local site and remote site. There are the moving robot and web server in the remote site and there is the robot control device in local site. The moving robot is moved by two stepper motors and the robot control device consists of SA-1100 micro controller and embedded Linux. And this controller is an embedded system. Public personal computer which is connected the Internet is used for the web server. The web server provides the mobile robot control interface program to the remote controller and captures the image for feedback information. In the whole system, a robot control device is connected with moving robot and web server through the Internet. So the operator can control the moving robot in the distance through the Internet.

  • The main objective of this study is to develop a dual approach for geometrically nonlinear finite element analysis of plane truss structures. The geometric nonlinearity is considered using the Total Lagrangian formulation. The nonlinear solution is obtained by introducing and minimizing an objective function subjected to displacement-type constraints. The proposed method can fully trace the whole equilibrium path of geometrically nonlinear plane truss structures not only before the limit point but also after it. No stiffness matrix is used in the main approach and the solution is acquired only based on the direct classical stress-strain formulations. As a result, produced errors caused by linearization and approximation of the main equilibrium equation will be eliminated. The suggested algorithm can predict both pre- and post-buckling behavior of the steel plane truss structures as well as any arbitrary point of equilibrium path. In addition, an equilibrium path with multiple limit points and snap-back phenomenon can be followed in this approach. To demonstrate the accuracy, efficiency and robustness of the proposed procedure, numerical results of the suggested approach are compared with theoretical solution, modified arc-length method, and those of reported in the literature.

  • Recently, the important issues of gasoline engine are to reduce the fuel consumption and emission. Thus, many researchers are studying the technology to solve these problems. One approach of these issues is to achieve homogeneous charge combustion and stratified change combustion with various injection strategy. In this study, the combustion characteristics of DISI engine accrding to injection strategy were examined. The effect of injection timing on lean limit A/F were investigated using dual DISI single cylinder. The results show that the engine operation region of dual DISI type engine is larger than that of PFI and DISI type engine cases. Especially, late injection is very effective to extend the operation region more than any other injection timings. In addition, the results show that when the DISI injection ratio is increase, leam limit A/F is improved. It means that the dual injection system car meet with emission regulations and reduce the fuel consumption. Also, combustion pressure of dual injection system is much higher than PFI and DISI injection.

  • In this paper, the effect of flow stress, friction, temperature, and velocity on finite element predictions of metal flow lines after cylindrical upsetting is presented. An actual three-stage hot forging process involving an upsetting step is utilized and experimental metal flow lines are measured to study the effect of the various process variables. It was found that temperature and velocity for reasonable values of friction have little influence on metal flow lines especially those located deep within the cylinder but that flow stress has a direct influence on the flow lines. It was shown that a pure power law material model cannot reflect the real flow stress of hot material because it underestimates the flow stress especially around the dead-metal zone for the upsetting of a cylindrical specimen. It is thus recommended that a proper lower limit of flow stress be assumed to alleviate this issue.

  • The composited structural member in which two or more materials having different stress-strain relationships (steel & concrete) has increased greatly in recent years. This paper presents the experimental results of flexural capacity of the composited H-Pile subjected to bending moment. Eight composited beams were tested under direct loading condition using the frame tester. Based on the experimental results it is noted that flexural capacity of composited H-Pile increased about 20~30% and ductility ratio significantly increased. Limit state analysis of the specimens was conducted and the result shows that flexural strength by limit state analysis is conservative.

  • The safety assessment for facility industry is now being periodically performed. For the purpose of scientific safety management, QRA(Quantitative Risk Assessment) is also being performed, and reliability data of the facilities is essential to perform the assessment. Generally, the existing safety assessment is performed by using the values announced in other industry processes, which result in the drop of reliability. In order to solve this problem, there is an urgent need to establish reliability database for the facilities. The most appropriate method is to perform a direct reliability analysis towards the facilities undergoing safety assessment. In this study, in compliance with the assessment method and procedure of OREDA-2002 handbook, the facility reliability data are collected, which include the calendar time and operational time in terms of different facility items, the number of failures in terms of different failure mode, the mean, standard deviation, lower limit and upper limit of failure rate, and the failure rate. And the data process method for this special occasion is also proposed when the number of failure is 0.
