A Step Type Dipole Antenna with Tapered Balun by CPW-fed to CPS (테이퍼드 발룬을 포함한 계단형의 다이폴 안테나 설계 및 구현)

  • In this paper, a step type driver dipole antenna with a tapered balance and unbalance (balun) by a coplanar waveguide (CPW) to coplanar strip (CPS) transition is proposed. The proposed antenna consisted of step type driver, a CPW to CPS transition and tapered balun. The proposed antenna is realized the multi and wide resonate frequency band to introduce the step type driver and tapered balun. The step type driver is acted as a director too. This antenna could be more easily designed than the conventional printed quasi-Yagi dipole antenna. The operating frequency bandwidth was 650 [MHz] (2.65~3.3 GHz), 900 [MHz] (4.7~5.6 GHz) under a return-loss criterion of less than 10 dB. The measurements of the proposed antenna exhibited good results in the wideband operating frequency and radiation pattern. The proposed antenna can support wireless communications applications.

  • This paper describes the development of a broadband quasi-Yagi antenna using a folded dipole driver. The antenna is designed on a low-permittivity substrate to reduce the surface wave effect, and hence the gain can be enhanced easily by adding directors. The folded dipole driver is connected to a 50-${\Omega}$ microstripline via a simple broadband microstrip-to-coplanar stripline transition with a quarter radial stub. The key motivation for the use of a folded dipole is to increase the input impedance at the driver, allowing a smaller mismatch loss between the antenna driver and the coplanar stripline feed. The proposed antenna has a measured bandwidth of 4.67~6.26 GHz for the -10 dB reflection coefficient, and a flat gain of 4.86~5.15 dB within the bandwidth.

  • In this paper, a new rectenna is presented for the wireless transmission of microwave power using dipole antenna (Quasi Yagi effect) and rectifier of CPS resonator structure. The dipole antenna with CPW feedline has high peak gain than a general dipole antenna. A ground plane of CPW is used to reflect a dipole as a Yagi antenna. Therefore, the new rectenna receives the RF power better than the one using general dipole. A RF-to-DC conversion efficiency of 61 % using a 1.4 $k{\Omega}$ load resistor is obtained at 5.8 GHz.

  • We present the magnitude of terahertz electromagnetic pulses when femtosecond laser pulses are moving along to a dipole antenna. The dipole antenna chip has maximum 4.7 nA THz current, generated at 11 DC volt. This current is 3.4 times bigger than the current of a $300{\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ separated transmission line structure chip that has 70 DC volt. We also apply an AC square wave voltage to the dipole antenna from 0.1 volt to 10 volt for binary signals using the terahertz electromagnetic pulses.

  • A compact dipole antenna for the terrestrial digital multimedia broadcasting (TDMB) application is presented. The length of the antenna is about $0.06{\lambda}$ at the TDMB resonance frequency of 190 MHz. Miniaturization of the antenna is achieved by using meander structures and lumped elements. The proposed antenna has two resonance frequencies and covers the TDMB band from 174 MHz to 216 MHz in Korea. The antenna has good impedance bandwidth and radiation characteristics for the TDMB. The experimental results of the designed dipole antenna are presented and analyzed.

  • In this paper, we investigated the aptness of embroidered textile dipole antenna as a wearable antenna. We designed an 2.45GHz ISM band embroidered textile dipole antenna on polyester textile. We investigated its characteristics depends on 3 variables, thickness of textile(ttextile), distance between textile and surface of body(gbody) and conductance of surface of body(𝜎body). Thickness of textile(ttextile) was affecting on the antenna resonance frequency(fo). As the conductance of surface of body(𝜎body) was increased the antenna resonance frequency(fo) and the antenna gain were increased slightly. The increment of the distance between textile and surface of body(gbody) caused relatively large increment of the antenna resonance frequency(fo) and the antenna gain. From the results, in the case of designing an embroidered textile dipole antenna as a wearable antenna we should consider carefully the two variables, distance between textile and surface of body(gbody) and thickness of textile(ttextile). Due to its large variation, the distance between textile and surface of body(gbody) may be a technical barrier in designing embroidered textile dipole antenna.

  • We investigate the characteristics of a dipole antenna on an artificial magnetic conductor (AMC) constructed of a normal material and a ground plane. We studied how the antenna performance is affected by changes in the dipole length and the distance between the dipole and the ground plane. The relation between the reflection phase of the AMC and the input resistance of the dipole for input impedance matching is also verified.

  • In this paper, the active integrated antenna(AIA) using a wideband printed dipole antenna and a balanced amplifier is designed and fabricated. The proposed active printed dipole antenna has characteristics of easy matching, wide bandwidth and higher output power To feed balanced signal to printed dipole, a Wilkinson power divider and delay lines are used. The measured result shows that, at 6 GHz center frequency, the impedance bandwidth is 22 % (VSWR < 2), 3 dB gain bandwidth is 28 %, the maximum gain is 14.77 dBi, and output power at P1 dB point is 23 dBm.

  • LPXDA(Log-Periodic X Dipole Antenna), consisting of X dipole elements, was proposed as a Log-periodic antenna with short boom length and good Performance relative to LPDA(Log-Periodic Dipole Antenna) . LPXDA for operating frequency band of 500 MHz~l,000 MHz was designed and radiation characteristics of the designed antenna was analyzed by moment method, and compared with LPDA characteristics. The proposed LPXDA, in this paper, was found to have shorter boom length by 20% and better radiation characteristics with variations of frequency relative to the LPDA. The calculated results show good agreement with measurements.

  • This paper presents the characteristics of antenna factors for sleeve dipole antennas with a broad bandwidth. The coupled integral equations for the unknown current distributions on each elements are derived and solved by applying Galerkin's method of moments. The flatness of antenna factor is considered. with variation of the length and number of sleeve elements.
