악취성분중 황화합물에 대한 기기분석법의 적용 (Application of Analytical Instrument Method for Determining Level of Malodorous Sulfur Compounds.)

  • The analytical instrument method was applied to analyze malodorous sulfur compounds emitted from industrial fields. Six factories and two sites which release malodorous substances into ambient air were selected to determine the level of hydrogen sulfide($H_2S$), methylmercaptan(MeSH), dimethyl sulfide($Me_2S$), and dimethyl disulfide($Me_2S_2$) using automated thermal desorption system (STD400) and GC-FPD in summer and fall seasons of 1999. The Air sampler for ATD400 uses a small pump to draw sample and a mass flow controller to adjust sample amount without using a dilution apparatus. The trap temperature of ATD400 reached to $-80^{\circ}$ by supplying liquid nitrogen and $H_2S$ can be analyzed under this condition. The recovery rates of $H_2S$, MeSH, $Me_2S$, and $Me_2S_2$ of odorous sulfur compounds standard were shown 98.2%, 93.6%, 98.2%, 99.4% respectively. The concentrations of $Me_2S$ at outside boundary of G market, L factory, and J factory were 0.018ppm, 0.021ppm, 0.032ppm in summer, respectively. The concentration of $H_2S$ at Nanjido landfill was 1.167ppm in summer, but that of $H_2S$ was not detected in fall because of soil covering. The concentration of H2S and $Me_2S_2$ at inside of Chonggye stream were 0.564ppm and 1.045ppm in summer, while those of H2S and Me2S2 were 0.285ppm and 0.465ppm in fall, respectively.

철 프탈로시아닌 유도체에 의한 아민 및 황 화합물의 흡착 (Adsorption of Amine and Sulfur Compounds by Iron Phthalocyanine Derivatives)

  • The adsorption capability of iron phthalocyanine derivatives were investigated by means of X-ray diffractometor (XRD), IR (infrared) spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and temperature programmed desorption (TPD). According to TPD results, iron phthalocyanine derivatives showed two desorption peaks at low temperature ($100{\sim}150^{\circ}C$) and high temperature ($350{\sim}400^{\circ}C$) indicating that there were two kinds of acidities. Tetracarboxylic iron phthalocyanine (Fe-TCPC) have a stronger desorption peak (chemical adsorption) at the high temperature and a weaker desorption peak (physical adsorption) at the low temperature than iron phthalocyanine (Fe-PC). The specific surface areas of Fe-TCPC and Fe-PC were $26.46\;m^2/g\;and\;11.77\;m^2/g$, respectively. The pore volumes of Fe-TCPC and Fe-PC were $0.14\;cm^3/g\;and\;0.06\;cm^3/g$, respectively. The adsorption capability of triethyl amine calculated by breakthrough curve at 220 ppm of equilibrium concentration was 29.2 mmoL/g for Fe-TCPC and 0.8 mmoL/g for Fe-PC. The removal efficiency of dimethyl sulfide of Fe-TCPC and Fe-PC in batch experiment of 225 ppm of initial concentration were 44.9% and 28.9%, respectively. The removal efficiency of trimethyl amine of Fe-TCPC and Fe-PC in batch experiment of 118 ppm of initial concentration were approximately 100.0% and 33.9%, respectively.

구취발생에 관여하는 구강내부요인에 관한 연구 (A study on the intraoral factor related to oral malodor)

  • This study was peformed in order to find out the relationship between the causing factors and the production of each gas 01 oral malodor, to contribute the oral malodor control at dental clinic as well as to establish the effective application of malodor control project for public oral health program 127 patients from 20 to 40 years old who had been visited for preventive dental cares were participated for the study. Such items as caries status, periodontal status, salivary flow, viscosity, pH. Snyder test, plaque deposit and tongue plaque were checked through the oral examination in order to find out the contributing factors Hydrogen sulfide, Methyl mercaptan, Di-methyl sulfide and Ammonia gas components were checked with Oral-Chroma and Attain, the oral malodor check units. Not only the corelation coefficiencies but also the multi-way variance analysis were calculated between each causing factor and each component of oral malodor gases to estimate the contributing factors of the oral malodor. 1. There was no relationship between the caries status and each component pf the oral malodor such as sulfur compound or Ammonia, both in laboratory test and VAS test (pF0.05). It revealed negative relationship between Hydrogen sulfide and FT(rM-0.1904. pE0.05) as well as the VAS and FT (rM-0.210. pE0.05). S0, it was estimated that the less oral malador was recognized when caries state changed to filled state in Hydrogen sulfide laboratory test or VAS test 2. High relationship was showed between salivary flow and Hydrogen sulfide (rM-0.183, pM0.039), Methyl mercaptan(rM-0.234, p-0.008). Dimethyl sulfide(rM-0.234, pM0.008) and Ammonia(-0.361. pM0.001) gas(pE0.05). 3. There was a high relationship between M-PHP(Modified-Patient Hygiene Performance Index) and tong plaque all kinds of sulfide(rM0.249. pM0.005). Ammonia gas component(rM0.232, pM0.009). 4. It was found that considerable relationship was appeared between the periodontal status and Ammonia gas (rM0.274, pM0.002), so, it should be needed to control Ammonia. Such dental Cares as the prevention or early treatment of periodontal disease and the accelerating the salivary flow as well as reducing the amounts and activities of filament or spiral typed oral micro-organism were recommended for adults, not only for dental care program at the dental clinics but also for public health programs, in order to promote the oral health and quality of file for individual and community peoples.

화학물질의 재현을 통한 악취발생원인 규명 (Investigation on the Cause of Malodor through the Reproduction of Chemicals)

  • It was confirmed that malodor connected with an air-conditioner in an automobile is caused by microbial volatile organic compounds (MVOCs) produced by microorganisms and through microorganisms coexisting with each other to form a biofilm on the evaporator surface. A bacterium, Methylobacterium aquaticum, can form a biofilm on the evaporator surface. The biofilm was composed of 45.79% C (Carbon), 42.36% O (Oxygen), 1.85% Na (Sodium), 5.42% Al (Aluminum), 1.39% P (Phosphorus), 0.74% Cl (Chlorine) and 2.45% K (Potassium). This result matches the composition of the biofilm formed on the surface of the used evaporator. It was determined that sulfur compounds (Hydrogen sulfide, Dimethyl sulfide) and organic acids (n-Butyric acid, n-Valeric acid, iso-Valeric acid) in the air which was blown into the automobile were generated by Methylobacterium aquaticum and Aspergillus versicolor, respectively. On the other hand, volatile organic compounds (Toluene, Xylene, 2-Ethylhexanol, 2-Phenyl- 2-propanol, Ethylbenzene) were not found. It is estimated that the reason is due to the low concentration of generated MVOCs or is caused by the change of some MVOCs depending on the nutrients (medium).

Characterization of Methane Oxidation by a Methanotroph Isolated from a Landfill Cover Soil, South Korea

  • A methane-oxidizing bacterium was isolated from the enriched culture of a landfill cover soil. The closest relative of the isolate, designated M6, is Methylocystis sp. Based on a kinetic analysis, the maximum specific methane oxidation rate and saturation constant were 4.93 mmol gdry cell $weight^{-1}{\cdot}h^{-1}$ and 23${\mu}M$, respectively. This was the first time a kinetic analysis was performed using pure methanotrophic culture. The methane oxidation by M6 was investigated in the presence of aromatic (m- and pxylene and ethylbenzene) or sulfur (hydrogen sulfide, dimethyl sulfide, methanthiol) compounds. The methane oxidation was inhibited by the presence of aromatic or sulfur compounds.

GC 분석 시스템의 설정과 그에 따른 감도의 차이: 열탈착 방식 대비 루프주입방식에 의한 황성분의 분석 (Changes in the gas chromatographic sensitivity with its analytical setting: Comparison of TDU and loop-injection system for the analysis of sulfur compounds)

  • 본 연구에서는 주요 환원황 화합물에 해당하는 4가지 황성분, $H_2S$, $CH_3SH$, DMS, DMDS을 이용하여, 이들의 주요 검출방법에 해당하는 GC/PFPD 방식의 검출특성을 대부분의 환경시료의 분석에 활용할 수 있는 두 가지 기준에서 비교 분석하였다. 우선 수 십 ppb 단위의 고농도 시료들에 대한 분석특성을 이해하기 위해, GC/PFPD에 루프주입장치를 결합한 고농도 모드 시스템을 구성하고, 이에 대한 평가를 시도하였다. 그리고 이에 대비하여, 열탈착 시스템을 연계한 저농도 모드 시스템을 이용하여, 환경대기와 같이 극단적으로 낮은 농도 (ppt 수준)로 존재하는 시료들의 분석기법을 평가하였다. 양 분석방식의 비교에 의하면, 개별 황성분들의 검출특성은 대단히 규칙적인 특성을 유지하는 것으로 나타났다. 고농도모드를 이용한 비교결과에 의하면, 황화수소의 경우 가장 약한 감도를 보인 반면, 황원소를 두개 함유한 DMDS는 가장 민감한 감도를 보였다. 고농도 모드에 대비하여 저농도 모드의 감도를 비교할 경우, 감도가 수십 배 수준으로 감소하는 것으로 나타났다. 양 방식의 뚜렷한 감도차이에도 불구하고, 선택한 모드에 상관없이 황성분들의 상대적인 검량특성은 비교적 규칙적인 경향성이 유지되는 것으로 나타났다. 이들 성분에 대한 정확한 검량을 위해서는 다양한 관점에서 검출특성을 정의하기 위한 노력이 수반되어야 할 것으로 사료된다.

마늘의 alcohol 침지 중 휘발성 향기성분과 침출유리아미노산 함량 (Elution Profiles of Volatile Compounds and Free Amino Acids during Alcohol Soaking of Garlic(Allum sativum L.))

  • 마늘주의 산업화에 앞서 기초 자료로써 활용하고자, 마늘을 소주 등의 술에 침지하였을 때 마늘의 휘발성 기능성분과 유리아미노산이 술로 침출되는 정도 및 형태에 관하여 조사하고자, 생마늘을 20% 주정에 5주간 침지하고 매주 휘발성 향기성분과 유리아미노산들이 침출되는 양적 및 형태적 변화를 조사하였다. 마늘의 주요 유리 아미노산은 L-aspartic acid, L-glutamic acid, L-arginine, L-alanine, L- proline, L-asparagine 및 L-serine이었으며, 유리 아미노산들 모두 침지 기간의경과에 따라 침출량이 증가하였다. 또한, L-threonine, L-proline, L-valine 및 L-leucine 등의 중성아미노산들과 방향족아미노산인 tyrosine과 phenylalanine은 3주 후부터 80% 이상 침출된 반면에, 산성, 염기성 및 함황아미노산들은 5주 후에도 80% 미만이었다. 생마늘의 휘발성 향기성분은 diallyl trisulfide, diallyl disulfide, methyl allyl disulfide, 2-vinyl-4H-1,3-dithiin, 3-vinyl-3,4-dihydro-1,2-dithiin, 3,5-diethyl-1,24-trithiolane, isobutyl isothiocyanate 및 diallyl sulfide 등의 황화합물들이 주요 성분들이었다. 생마늘로부터 주정으로 침출된 휘발성 향기성분은 allyl alcohol, diallyl disulfide, 3,5-diethyl-1,2,4-trithiolane, diallyl trisulfide, 3,4-dimethoxyfuran의 5종이었으며, 침지기간의 경과에 따라 3,5-diethyl-1,2,4-trithiolane는 계속 침출량이 증가하였지만 그 외 4종은 감소하였다. 침 지기간 중 furfural, 5-methylfurfural, 5-hydroxymethylfurfural, dimethyl pyrazine, furfuryl alcohol, 3-hydroxy-2-bytanone과 2,3-dihydro-3,5-dihydroxy-6-methyl-4H-pyran-4-one이 새로이 생성되었으며, 침지기간의 경과에 따라 침출주에 대부분 축적되는 양상을 보였다.

대기 중 악취황 성분들에 대한 GC 분석의 특성 (Studies of gas chromatographic analysis of malodorous S compounds in air)

  • 본 연구에서는 악취성 황화합물로 지목되는 주요 성분, $H_2S$, $CH_3SH$, DMS, DMDS의 검출특성을 비교분석하였다. 이러한 특성을 검정하기 위해, GC/PFPD에 루프주입장치를 결합한 시스템을 구성하였다. 본 연구의 결과에 의하면, 개별 황성분들의 검출반응특성이 대단히 다양하게 나타났다. 황화수소의 경우 가장 약한 감도를 보인 반면, 황원소를 두개 함유한 DMDS는 가장 민감한 감도를 보였다. 이러한 특성을 보다 정량적으로 파악하기 위해, 이들의 검량선을 임의로 나누어진 3개의 농도대에서 비교하였다. 그 결과에 의하면, $H_2S$는 흡착에 따른 손실의 영향이 검량선의 결과에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 반면 DMS와 DMDS의 경우에는 직선성이 변화하는데 따른 영향이 크게 반영되는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구를 통해, 악취황성분의 검량을 위해서는 성분별 검출특성을 정확하게 파악하는 것이 중요한 부분이라는 것을 알 수 있었다.

Verification of mechanical failure mode through corrosion test of a pump for soil sterilizer injection

  • Deteriorating soil physical properties and increasing soil pathogens due to the continuous cultivation of field crops are the leading causes of productivity deterioration. Crop rotation, soil heat treatment, and chemical control are used as pest control methods; however, each has limitations in wide application to domestic agriculture. In particular, chemical control requires improvement due to direct exposure to sterilizing solution, odor, and high-intensity work. To improve the overall domestic agricultural environment, the problems of time and cost, such as field maintenance and cultivation scale, must be addressed; therefore, mechanization technology for chemical control must be secured to derive improvement effects in a short period. Most related studies are focused on the control effect of the DMDS (dimethyl disulfide) sterilizer, and research on the performance of the sterilization spray device has been conducted after its introduction in Korea, but research on the corrosion suitability of the material is lacking. This study conducted a corrosion test to secure the corrosion resistance of a soil sterilizer injection pump, and a mechanical failure mode by corrosion by the material was established. The corrosion test comprised operation and neglect tests in which the sterilizing solution was circulated in the pump and remained in the pump, respectively. As a result of the corrosion test, damage occurred due to the weakening of the mechanical strength of the graphite material, and corrosion resistance to aluminum, stainless steel, fluororubber, and PPS (polyphenylene sulfide) materials was confirmed.

시판 흑마늘추출액의 휘발성 향기성분 (Volatile Flavor Compounds in Commercial Black Garlic Extracts)

  • 흑마늘은 일정기간 마늘의 자체 성분과 효소 등에 의해 숙성되어 진한 흑갈색으로 변한 것으로 추출액과 같은 가공형태로 시중에 많이 유통되고 있으나 관능적 품질평가에 대한 연구는 아직 미흡한 실정이다. 본 연구에서는 국내 흑마늘 제품의 산지별에 따른 흑마늘추출액 4종(A, B, C, D)을 선정하여 관능적 요소 중 가장 중요한 휘발성 향기성분을 분석하여 제품의 품질에 대한 기초자료로 활용하고자 하였다. 시판 흑마늘추출액의 휘발성 향기성분을 분석한 결과, 총 68종으로 함황화합물류 21종, 알데히드류 10종, 퓨란류 7종, 알콜류 6종, 방향족화합물 7종, 케톤류 4종, 산류 4종, 질소화합물 3종, 에스테르류 2종 및 기타 4종이 검출되었다. 흑마늘추출액 모든 시료에서 fruit-sweet향의 2,6-dimethyl-4-heptanone이 높은 함량 검출되었다. 함황화합물에서는 6종, allyl sulfide, 4-methyl-1,2,4-thiazole, 1,3,5-trithiane, unknown I(RI 1564), II(RI 1565), III(R I1613)이 전 시료에서 높은 함량 검출되었으며, 마늘향기성분에 관여할 것으로 사료된다. 또한 Maillard 반응에 의해 형성되어지는 것으로 알려진 3종의 알데히드류(3-methylbutanal, benzaldehyde, phenylacetaldehyde)와 4종의 furan류(furfural, 2-acetylfuran, 5-methyl-2-furfural, furfuryl alcohol), 2,6-dimethyl pyrazine, acetic acid가 모든 시료에서 높은 함량으로 검출되었으며, 이들 향기성분들은 시판 흑마늘추출액의 휘발성성분에 burnt, sweet, sour한 특징적인 냄새에 기여할 것으로 사료되었다.
