  • The purpose of this study is to find out the level of digital stress that people experience and to investigate the effects of socio-economic variables on that. To collect data, structured questionnaire was developed and 1,200 questionnaires were distributed through internet. There were 2 dimensions in this study to examine digital stress. First dimension was about the devices themselves: computers and the other digital goods. Second dimension was about the time digital stress occurring in consumers' decision-making process: purchasing and using. Based on Yeo&Kim(2004), sub-dimensions of purchasing and using aspects were chosen. 5 sub-dimensions in purchasing side were new technology, cost, variety of alternatives, warranty service, and informational problem 6 sub-dimensions in using field were mal(or impaired)-functioning. physical aspects, immaturity in use, pressure to use, addiction to use, and informational problem. As independent variables, sex, age, educational level, digitalization acceptability and computer usability were used. The overall level of digital stress was around the average point which was not as high as expected. Digital stress of purchasing was higher than that of using. First, in purchasing aspects, the level of digital stress was relatively high in cost, variety of alternatives and warranty service. Hence, clear communications with consumers about the distinctive aspects and cost of digital devices in market are needed. Secondly, in using side, mal-functioning and physical aspects were relatively more powerful stressors. In the other words, the more serious problems were not from the characteristics of individual consumers but from those of products. Producers should put their best efforts to reduce imperfection (defectiveness) and develop user-friendly digital devices. Also, users' individual efforts to overcome the problems that can be solved privately are necessary. Finally, it was discovered that sex and computer usability were very important variables on digital stress. To extend computer usability of consumers and get over digital illiteracy, it is essential to expand the paths to give chances for people to contact with computers and other digital goods. Still there are lots of people whore computer-illiterate or low-skilled at computers. In policies or educational programs made by government, communities, or schools, more attention should be paid to the digitally vulnerable groups.

  • The residual stress in axial direction of the steel wires has been measured by using a method based on the combination of the focused ion beam(FIB) milling and digital image correlation(DIC) program. The residual stress is calculated from the measured displacement field before and after the introduction of a slot along the steel wires. The displacement is obtained by the digital correlation analysis of high-resolution scanning electron micrographs, while the slot is introduced by FIB milling with low energy beam. The experimental procedures are described and the feasibilities are demonstrated in steel wires fabricated with different conditions. It reveals that the tensile residual stress is formed in all steel wires and this is strongly influenced by the fabrication conditions.

  • Stress induces change to the body functions and causes chronic problems such as worsening a disease. Thus, humans want to evade anxiety and would try any means to reduce stressful situations. Generally, a person would handle their stress by either regulating their emotions or merely coping with the situation, for which the former is most widely used. Our research aims to effectively reduce stress by using the emotional response structure developed by Plutichik and the vitalization method. We extracted the relevant components of the stress-reduction method that would be applicable in any space using digital technologies such as sensors, IoT, and augmented reality. An architect or designer may incorporate these structural components into any structure to effectively reduce people's stress. The research aims to provide a new perspective of architectural space and to show applications of the stress-reducing architectural spaces, which should also fulfill the people's needs. Further research is needed to develop an automatic system to utilize spatial components more effectively.

  • The aim of this study is to provide a clear and accessible method to obtain accurate true-stress strain data, and to extend the limited material data beyond the ultimate tensile strength (UTS) for AISI 304L. AISI 304L is used for the outer construction for some types of nuclear transport packages, due to its post-yield ductility and high failure strain. Material data for AISI 304L beyond UTS is limited throughout literature. 3D digital image correlation (DIC) was used during a series of uniaxial tensile experiments. Direct method extracted data such as true strain and instantaneous cross-sectional area throughout testing such that the true stress-strain response of the material up to failure could be created. Post processing of the DIC data has a considerable effect on the accuracy of the true stress-strain data produced. Influence of subset size and smoothing of data was investigated by using finite element analysis to inverse model the force displacement response in order to determine the true stress strain curve. The FE force displacement response was iteratively adapted, using subset size and smoothing of the DIC data. Results were validated by matching the force displacement response for the FE model and the experimental force displacement curve.

  • Many studies involving a thermal stress analysis using computational methods have been conducted, though there have been relatively few experimental attempts to investigate thermal stress phenomena. Casting products undergo thermal stress variations during the casting process as the temperature drops from the melting temperature to room temperature, with gradient cooling also occurring from the surface to the core. It is difficult to examine thermal stress states continuously during the casting process. Therefore, only the final states of thermal stress and deformations can be detemined. In this study, specimens sensitive to thermal stress, were made by a casting process. After which the residual stress levels in the specimens were measured by a hole drilling method with Electron Speckle-Interferometry technique. Subsequently, we examined the thermal stresses in terms of deformation during the casting process by means of a numerical analysis. Finally, we compared the experimental and numerical analysis results. It was found that the numerical thermal stress analysis is an effective means of understanding the stress generation mechanism in casting products during the casting process.

  • The prevalence of stress and depression among emotional workers is increasing due to the rapid increase in emotional labor and service workers. However, the current mental health management of emotional workers is difficult to consider the emotional response at the time of stress situations, and the existing mental health management is limited because the individual's base state is not reflected. In this study, we present mental healthcare digital twin solution technology, a personalized stress risk management solution. For mental health risk management due to emotional labor, a solution simulation is performed to accurately predict stress risk through synchronization/modeling of dynamic objects in virtual space by extracting individual stress risk factors such as emotional/physical response and environment into various modalities. It provides a mental healthcare digital twin solution for predicting personalized mental health risks that can be configured with modalities and objects tailored to the environment of emotional workers and improved according to user feedback.
