Digital Relaying Algorithm for Power Transformer Protection using Fuzzy Logic Approach

  • Power transformer protective relay should block the tripping during magnetizing inrush and rapidly operate the tripping during internal faults. Recently, the frequency environment of power system has been made more complicated and the quantity of 2nd frequency component in inrush state has been decreased because of the improvement of core steel. And then, traditional approaches will likely be maloperate in the case of magnetizing inrush with low second harmonic component and internal faults with high second harmonic component. This paper proposes a new relaying algorithm to enhance the fault detection sensitivities of conventional techniques by using a fuzzy logic approach. The proposed fuzzy based relaying algorithm consists of flux-differential current derivative curve, harmonic restraint, and percentage differential characteristic curve. The proposed relaying was tested with relaying signals obtained from EMTP simulation package and showed a fast and accurate trip operation.

  • Frequency is regarded as one of most important indices for the operating power systems. Several digital techniques for measuring frequency have been presented in the last decades. This paper proposes a design and implementation an adaptive scheme using phase angle difference calculation fort frequency measuring in power system. The advantages of the proposed technique are demonstrated by fault signals from EMTP simulation and user defined arbitrary signals by Excel program. The proposed technique is compared with the conventional methods. Performance teat results indicate that the proposed technique provides accurate measures in pretence of noise and harmonics and in case faults and is suitable for measurement near-nominal, nominal. and off-nominal frequencies. We can see that It will be useful in microprocessor based relays and digital metiers that need to measure power system frequency.

  • Analysis of the transient stability of power systems following disturbances involves many sets of non-linear differential equations. This paper attempts to analyze the transient stability of multi-machine power systems by the step by step method, using the electronic digital computer. The critical switching times and phase angles for the main 154KV transmission system in Korea, are given from the swing curves of the probable conditions. It is concluded that the system is, in general, stable if the relay is cut off within 12 cycles after the fault. However the fault of DAEGU-SANGJU branch, accompanying much real power, makes the system unstable when the raly is cut off within 4 cycles after fault or automatic voltage regulators are equipped in this branch.

  • The role of protective relaying system is important in the power system stability and reliability. Conventional relaying schemes have had many problems that adaptiveness for delicate variance of objective power systems is poor, and so on. In these days, in order to overcome the weaknesses, the studies to application of artificial intelligent scheme are required. In this paper, as the preceding research for development of intelligent protective relays, we tried to select the most suitable digital filter using comparison of frequency response and performance of wanted frequency component extraction etc.

  • This paper describes the development of a digital multifunction controller for the protection, measurement and control of the high voltage customer switchboard. The magnitude of the fundamental component is estimated using a simple filter based on cross-correlation with a heptagonal wave. The characteristics of flexible relay functions such as adjustable pickup and time-dial settings, various time-magnitude curve and directional capability including measurement functions are presented. The controller implementation is carried out on two microprocessors for real time operation.

  • 디지털 보호계전기의 성능 검증에 있어서 RTDS(Real Time Digital Simulator)와 같은 디지털 시뮬레이터를 사용하는 경우가 점점 증가하고 있다. 특히 보호계전기의 동특성(Dynamic Performance) 시험에 있어서는, 디지털 시뮬레이터를 이용한 성능 검증이 거의 필수적이다. 본 논문에서는 디지털 보호계전기 중 거리계전기의 Reach Test에 있어서 성능 검증에 사용할 계통 모델 선정 방안을 PSCAD/RTDS에서의 구현 관점에서 기술하고 있다. 양단 전원을 가지는 4모선 2회선 송전선로를 Bergeron 모델을 이용하여 모델링하고, 모델의 유효성을 귀납적인 방법을 사용해서 검증하는 방안을 제시하고 있다.

  • The digital substation automation system has contributed hugely to increasing the stability of power systems by providing not only protection and control of power systems but diagnostic features alongside them. Digital substation automation systems in the scale of substations consist of integrated operation systems and intelligent electronic devices. The main intelligent electronic devices currently in use are digital protection relays and the bay controllers in Gas insulated switchgears. Proficiently accomplishing the coordination of protection within the power system as a means of ensuring reliability and contriving for the stability of power supply through connection of function, the application of bay controllers is crucial, which collectively manage the protection relay at the bay level in order to achieve both. In this research, the bay controllers to be used in high-voltage Gas insulated switchgear has been localized, and in particular, the logic function and editor required in order to minimize the complicated hardware-like cable connections in the local panel have been developed. In addition, to ensure the strength and reliability of the bay controller hardware developed herein, the type tests from KERI have been successfully completed.

  • Recently, with the advancement of internet network the system has been needed to be controllable and observable through internet at industrial workplace. In this study, we developed the digital timer which has a communication function to control and observe many kinds of devices by combining relay and timer used for each type of control panel to realize control solution based on internet to be easily applicable at workplace with low cost and adding 485 serial communication module to have parallel expansibility and safety. And, this system was experimented and designed for easy system management and status check from remote station through internet. appling the developed digital timer to parallel sequence control of motor. As the result of experiment, the circuit configuration would be more simplified than the existing, and it is expected that multi-connection control and monitoring can be simply implemented with low cost equipment at industrial workplace.

접근객체 인식 및 전송을 위한 영상 디지털 도어락 시스템 설계 (Video Digital Doorlock System for Recognition and Transmission of Approaching Objects)

  • 기존 사용되고 있는 디지털 도어락 시스템은 사용자의 편의에 중점을 두어 보안 측면에서는 취약한 단점이 있다. 이에 본 논문은 중계기, 서버, 카메라와 센서, 통신 모듈이 결합된 디지털 도어락 시스템화하여 도어락 설치장소 전방에서 접근하는 객체를 감지 및 인식하고 이미지와 문 열림 정보를 사용자의 스마트 디바이스로 전송해 주는 영상 디지털 도어락 시스템을 제안하고자 한다. 제안한 시스템은 실험결과 대상거리 내에서 96~98%의 접근자 인식률과 사용 통신망에 따라 평균 약 17.1~23.9초의 전송시간이 소요되었다. 따라서 도어락 시스템 전방의 상황을 모니터링하여 실시간 보안 대응이 가능할 것으로 판단된다.
