  • This paper presents a wired and wireless linked remote control system. Ethernet based network communication is used for long distance management and 2.4GHz RF network is adopted for the local area communication between the main network and the ballast. For the effective remote control and management including dimming using wired and wireless linked digital communication networks, control circuit of the ballast is implemented with fully digital circuit using MCU and EPLD. In this paper, the proper frame structure is proposed for the digital-remote lighting-control system and the detailed system configurations including fully digital controlled ballast for the induction lamp are described.

  • This study analyzed information sharing and digital divide within family and their consequences on the power structure between parents and their children based on the resource-exchange theory. In-depth interview has been conducted to collect data and materials for analysis. Major findings are: first, children recognized the ability to use information technology as resources, while parents did not; second, digital divide between parents and children seemed to be associated with laissez-faire communication between parents and children and worked as a cause of conflict between parents and children; third, reverse-socialization from children to parents occurred in consumer socialization in the family. Based on the findings, the implications to further research were provided.

  • In this paper, we designed a portable digital pressure algometer which not only can measure the pain level objectively and quantitatively, but also is able to do RF communication. This system consists of pressure sensor for pain measurement, analog signal analysis, digital hardware based on PIC16C73B, RF communication and display. To evaluate the performance of the developed system, we measured pressure threshold using commercial analog PA(Pressure Algometer) and the proposed system, and then evaluated the correlation and confidence. Using linear regression analysis, standard deviation of 0.1731 and R-square value of 99.3% were obtained. In conclusion, the above results showed good performance and its usability in measuring the pain clinically.

  • In this paper, we present a phase coherent all-digital transceiver for underwater acoustic communication, which allows the system to reduce complexity and increase robustness in time variant underwater environments. It is designed in the digital domain except for transducers and amplifiers and implemented by using a multiple digital signal processors (DSPs) system. For phase coherent reception, conventional systems employed phase-locked loop (PLL) and delay-locked loop (DLL) for synchronization, but this paper suggests a frame synchronization scheme based on the quadrature receiver structure without using phase information. We show experimental results in the underwater anechoic basin at MOERI. The results show that the adaptive equalizer compensates frame synchronization error and the correction capability is dependent on the length of equalizer.

  • In this study, we learned about the emergence of on-line communications originating from peoseuteol Computer Communications, the limitations of online communication, and the definition, traits and development of emoticons that serve as complementary roles, such as emotion and status. After analyzing various literacture and references, it was found that the emoticons functioned as a function of communicating the visual language of the digital era and communicating more sensitively to emotional factors. In a multimedia environment, emoticons are developed at a more advanced stage as the users' own icons due to a stronger tendency to pursue particularity and uniqueness. It is expected that eomotions added with multimedia functions will be more popular and vary in type. However, although the diversification of emotions as a commercial tool is already actively progressing, there appears a reverse effect in which an excessive use of emoticons is considered insincere in online communications. In such a background, research should be conducted that can support a systematic and effective development of emoticons through visual research rather than producing multimedia emoticons indiscreetly.

  • Recently, mobile commerce is widely spread around the world according to fast growth of the mobile communication market. The existing digital document is not well fit in mobile commerce because of weakness of the hardware of mobile devices, low bandwidth of wireless communication, and the constraints of the size and resolution of the display. In this paper, we analyzed the elements of the digital document proper for mobile commerce based on wireless communication, designed the XML form for the digital document, and implemented the X-Auth which is an authoring tool for the XML digital document. X-Auth does not require that the author or user know XML. And also it makes it possible to create the digital document fit for the size of the mobile device display and therefore remove inconvenience due to the scrolls.

  • To ensure reliable and secure communication in heterogeneous cellular network (HCN) with imperfect channel state information (CSI), we proposed a coordinated multipoint (CoMP) transmission scheme based on dual-threshold optimization, in which only base stations (BSs) with good channel conditions are selected for transmission. First, we present a candidate BSs formation policy to increase access efficiency, which provides a candidate region of serving BSs. Then, we design a CoMP networking strategy to select serving BSs from the set of candidate BSs, which degrades the influence of channel estimation errors and guarantees qualities of communication links. Finally, we analyze the performance of the proposed scheme, and present a dual-threshold optimization model to further support the performance. Numerical results are presented to verify our theoretical analysis, which draw a conclusion that the CoMP transmission scheme can ensure reliable and secure communication in dense HCNs with imperfect CSI.

  • The underground utility tunnel is an urban infrastructure that accommodates and manages important facilities such as water and sewage, electricity, and communication in the city, and is a national facility that needs to be protected from disasters such as fire, earthquake, and flooding. In establishing a disaster safety life cycle management system such as prediction, prevention, preparedness, response, and recovery, a disaster safety management platform for underground utility tunnel is being developed by utilizing digital twin technology in which advanced ICT technology and data are converged. In this paper, the maturity model for the disaster safety digital twin was reviewed, and the datasets necessary for implementing the digital twin at each stage were defined.
