LiDAR systems are usually incorporated a laser scanner and GPS/INS modules with a digital aerial camera. LiDAR point clouds and digital aerial images acquired by the systems provide complementary spatial information on the ground. In addition, some of laser scanners provide intensity, radiometric information on the surface of the earth. Since the intensity is unnecessary of registration and provides the radiometric information at a certain wavelength on the location of LiDAR point, it can be a valuable ancillary information but it does not deliver sufficient radiometric information compared with digital images. This study utilize the LiDAR points as ground control points (GCPs) to adjust exterior orientations(EOs) of the stereo images. It is difficult to find exact point of LiDAR corresponding to conjugate points in stereo images, but this study used intensity of LiDAR as an ancillary data to find the GCPs. The LiDAR points were successfully used to adjust EOs of stereo aerial images, therefore, successfully provided the prerequisite for the precise registration of the two data sets from the LiDAR systems.

The National Geographic Information Institute of Korea takes digital aerial photograph images every two years to make and modify/renew the digital map. The cameras for aerial photogrammetry to capture these digital aerial photographs are divided into frame types and line types. Computer vision analysis of aerial photograph images was only possible for frame type. Thus, in this study, Line type aerial photograph images was intended to generate geospatial information through computer vision analysis, and forest geospatial information was created as a method for the utilization of aerial picture images. As a result, geospatial information generated by computer vision analysis of line type aerial photograph images showed that RMSE of horizontal and vertical position errors was less than quadruple that of GSD. Forest geospatial information was generated using geospatial information generated by computer vision analysis. It was confirmed that extraction of the crown of tree and calculation of tree height are possible. Through this study, it is expected that utilization of aerial photograph images will be improved.

Recently, in accordance with the introduction of Digital Photogrammetry Systems the use of Digital ortho-photo images have increased and progressed in the study which extract the features from digital ortho-photo image semi-automatically or automatically. However, there are a limit. It has proved in many studies that recognition of the attribution or the features from panchromatic aerial photo is restricted. In this study, I compared color aerial images with panchromatic aerial images and analyzed the characteristics of color aerial images and feature entities which can be extracted semi-automatically. I analyzed extracted feature entities are compared with digital map at a scale of 1:5,000 have constructed in National Geography Institute. With this result, I analyzed the capability of feature extraction and proposed a plan for the study in the future.
Most research materials (data), which are used for the study of digital mapping and digital elevation model (DEM) in the field of Remote Sensing and Aerial Photogrammetry are aerial photographs and satellite images. Additionally, they are also used for National land mapping, National land management, environment management, military purposes, resource exploration and Earth surface analysis etc. Although aerial photographs have high resolution, the data, which they contain, are not used for environment exploration that requires continuous observation because of problems caused by its coastline, as well as single - spectral and long-term periodic image. In addition to this, they are difficult to interpret precisely because Satellite Images are influenced by atmospheric phenomena at the time of photographing, and have by far much lower resolution than existing aerial photographs, while they have a great practical usability because they are mulitispectral images. The PKNU 2 is an aerial photographing system that is made to compensate with the weak points of existing aerial photograph and satellite images. It is able to take pictures of very high resolution using a color digital camera with 6 million pixels and a color infrared camera, and can take perpendicular photographs because PKNU 2 system has equipment that makes the cameras stay level. Moreover, it is very cheap to take pictures by using super light aircraft as a platform. It has much higher resolution than exiting aerial photographs and satellite images because it flies at a low altitude about 800m. The PKNU 2 can obtain multispectral images of visible to near infrared band so that it is good to manage environment and to make a classified diagram of vegetation.

As the utilization of aerial images increases, a variety of software using unmanned aerial photogrammetric procedures as well as traditional aerial photogrammetric procedures are being provided. Previously, software that used the unmanned aerial photogrammetric procedure was used for images captured in small areas. Recently, however, software that uses unmanned aerial photogrammetric procedures for large-scale images taken by using aerial photogrammetric cameras has appeared. Therefore, this study generated ortho-images using aerial photogrammetry and unmanned aerial photogrammetry for large aerial images, and compared the features of both procedures through qualitative and quantitative comparisons. Experiments in the study area show that using the 3D mesh effectively removes the relief displacement of the building rather than using the digital surface model to generate ortho-images.
Aerial photo process with digital camera has some benefits. It is fast and simple by digital way incomparison with aerial photo based on film. Also it works with GPS/INS device to do direct geo-referencing. Sdata and digital map and GCP is produced. In base on it, ortho images are produced and compared with surveying data.
In this study, a digital elevation model (DEM) in tidal flat of Suncheon Bay, one of the most ecological preserved area in the world, was generated from digital aerial stereo-images. The focal lengths for the aerial stereo-images were adjusted using ground control points (GCPs) in order to improve the accuracy of camera parameters. We proposed matching sizes suitable for generating DEM in tidal flat and a method for eliminating excessive position errors using intersection-distance($P_R$) threshold value. The accuracies of the DEM generated from the proposed method as well as the commercial S/W were compared with the elevation profiles measured by Total Station in the filed. As the results, the DEM generated by the proposed method showed better result (maximum deviation is a -21 centimeters) with detailed topography than DEM by the commercial S/W in the region. These results suggest that the DEM of tidal flat, which hardly obtained with the traditional methods, can be generated from digital aerial images by applying the proposed method in this study. We believe that the generated DEM in tidal flat can be an essential data for monitoring the sediment erosion and deposit of the tidal flat.

Efficient 3D generation of cultural features, such as buildings in urban area is becoming increasingly important for a number of GIS applications. For reconstruction or 3D building in urban area aerial images, satellite images, LIDAR data have been used mainly. In case of automatically extracting and reconstructing of building height using single aerial images or single satellite images, there are a lot of problems, such as mismatching that result from a geometric distortion of optical images. Therefore, researches or integrating optical images and existing 2D GIS data(e.g. digital map) has been in progress. In this paper, we focused on extracting of building height by means or interest points and vortical line locus for reducing matching points. Also we used digital plotter in order to validate for the results in this study using aerial images(1/5,000) and existing digital map(1/1,000).
This study tried to analyze error range and resolution of drone images using a rotary wing by comparing them with field measurement results and to analyze stands patterns in actual vegetation map preparation by comparing drone images with aerial images provided by National Geographic Information Institute of Korea. A total of 11 ground control points (GCPs) were selected in the area, and coordinates of the points were identified. In the analysis of aerial images taken by a drone, error per pixel was analyzed to be 0.284 cm. Also, digital elevation model (DEM), digital surface model (DSM), and orthomosaic image were abstracted. When drone images were comparatively analyzed with coordinates of ground control points (GCPs), root mean square error (RMSE) was analyzed as 2.36, 1.37, and 5.15 m in the direction of X, Y, and Z. Because of this error, there were some differences in locations between images edited after field measurement and images edited without field measurement. Also, drone images taken in the stream and the forest and 51 and 25 cm resolution aerial images provided by the National Geographic Information Institute of Korea were compared to identify stands patterns. To have a standard to classify polygons according to each aerial image, image analysis software (eCognition) was used. As a result, it was analyzed that drone images made more precise polygons than 51 and 25 cm resolution images provided by the National Geographic Information Institute of Korea. Therefore, if we utilize drones appropriately according to characteristics of subject, we can have advantages in vegetation change survey and general monitoring survey as it can acquire detailed information and can take images continuously.

Since existing thematic maps have been made with medium- to low-resolution satellite images, they have several shortcomings including low positional accuracy and low precision of presented thematic information. Digital aerial photo image taken recently can express panchromatic and color bands as well as NIR (Near Infrared) bands which can be used in interpreting forest areas. High resolution images are also available, so it would be possible to conduct precision land cover classification. In this context, this paper implemented object-based land cover classification by using digital aerial photos with 0.12m GSD (Ground Sample Distance) resolution and IKONOS satellite images with 1m GSD resolution, both of which were taken on the same area, and also executed qualitative analysis with ortho images and existing land cover maps to check the possibility of object-based land cover classification using digital aerial photos and to present usability of digital aerial photos. Also, the accuracy of such classification was analyzed by generating TTA(Training and Test Area) masks and also analyzed their accuracy through comparison of classified areas using screen digitizing. The result showed that it was possible to make a land cover map with digital aerial photos, which allows more detailed classification compared to satellite images.
