  • 대한민국 사회가 급속도로 노령화 사회로 접어들면서, 노인들에 대한 여러 가지 문제가 대두되고 있다. 그 중에서도 의료에 관련된 사항은 그 중요성면에서 더욱 절실하다고 할 수 있다. 현재 이에 대한 대책을 마련하기 위하여 다방면의 노력이 이루어지고 있지만, 아직 현실적이면서도 경제적인 방법은 뚜렷하게 제시되지 못하고 있다. 또한, 급속한 인터넷의 보급 및 확산을 통하여 보다 많은 사용자가 좀 더 나은 의료서비스를 받기 위한 노력도 이루어지고 있지만, 노년층의 경우, 그 사용의 어려움 등으로 인하여 제약조건이 발생하게 된다. 본 논문에서는 현재 이미 널리 보급되어 있고 상대적으로 노년층이 사용하기 쉬운 CDMA 방식의 핸드폰을 이용하여 보다 신속하고도 편리하게 노인들의 응급 사태에 간략하게나마 대처할 수 있는 시스템을 제안하였다.

저온 연소합성 후 확산 열처리한 $Ni_{3}Al$ 금속간화합물 코팅층의 미끄럼 마모거동 (Analysis of Wear Properties for $Ni_{3}Al$ Layer coated on Ferrous Materials by Diffusion Treatment after Combustion Synthesis at low Temperature)

  • Coating brittle intermetallic compounds on metal can enlarge the range of their use. It is found that intermetallic compound coating layers made by only combustion synthesis in an electric furnace have porous multi-phase structures containing several intermediate phases, even though the coating layers show good wear resistance. In this study, dense $Ni_{3}Al$ single phase layer corresponding to the initial composition of the mixed powder is coated on two different ferrous materials by the diffusing treatment after combustion synthesis. After- ward, sliding wear behaviors of the coating layer are evaluated in comparison with that of the coating layer with porous multi-phase structure made by only combustion synthesis. As a result, the wear properties of the coating layer composed of dense $Ni_{3}Al$ single phase are considerably improved at the range of low sliding speed com- pared with that of the coating layer with porous multi-phase structure, particularly in the running-in wear region. This is attributed to the fact that wear of the coating layer is progressed by shearing as a sequence of adhesion, not by occurring of pitting on the worn surface due to having dense structure without pores.

Tempcore 공정을 통해 제조된 600 MPa급 철근의 두께방향 미세구조 변화 분석 (Investigation of Through-thickness Microstructural Evolution in a 600 MPa-Grade Reinforced Steel Bar Manufactured by Tempcore Process)

  • 600 MPa-grade deformed bar samples were manufactured by conventional hot rolling and subsequent Tempcore heat treatment processes. Considering the short-time water quenching step of the Tempcore process for hot-rolled steel, it is inevitable that the temperature profile of the deformed bar depends strongly on its position throughout the sample thickness. As a result, its microstructure can be easily divided into two regions, the surface and the core regions. The former is expected to have a fresh martensite microstructure under rapid cooling conditions, but self-tempering occurs due to the intense heat flow from the hot core region after the process. The latter is generally known to exhibit a mixed microstructure of ferrite and pearlite due to its slow cooling rate. In this study, detailed microstructural evolutions were examined through the thickness direction. The large variation of the microstructure through the thickness direction in the deformed bar samples is partly due to the easy carbon diffusion from the limited additions of alloying elements.

A Preponderant Enhancement of Conversion Efficiency by Surface Coating of $SnO_2$ Nanoparticles in Organic MK-2 Dye Sensitized Solar Cell

  • Nanocrystalline $SnO_2$ colloids are synthesized by hydrolysis of $SnCl_4{\cdot}5H_2O$ in aqueous ammonia solution. The synthesized $SnO_2$ nanoparticles with ca. 15 nm in diameter are coated on a fluorinedoped thin oxide (FTO) conductive substrate and heated at $550^{\circ}C$. The annealed $SnO_2$ film is treated with aqueous $TiCl_4$ solution, which is sensitzied with MK-2 dye (2-cyano-3-[5'''-(9-ethyl- 9H-carbazol-3-yl)-3',3'',3''',4-tetra-n-hexyl-[2,2',5',2'',5'',2''']-quater thiophen-5-yl]). Compared to bare $SnO_2$ film, the conversion efficiency is significantly improved from 0.22% to 3.13% after surface treatment of $SnO_2$ with $TiCl_4$, which is mainly due to the large increases in both photocurrent density from 1.33 to $9.46mA/cm^2$ and voltage from 315 to 634 mV. It is noted that little change in the amount of the adsorbed dye is detected from 1.21 for the bare $SnO_2$ to $1.28{\mu}mol/cm^2$ for the $TiCl_{4-}$ treated $SnO_2$. This indicates that the photocurrent density increased by more than 6 times is not closely related to the dye loading concentration. From the photocurrent and voltage transient spectroscopic studies, electron life time increases by about 13 order of magnitude, whereas electron diffusion coefficient decreases by about 3.6 times after $TiCl_4$ treatment. Slow electron diffusion rate offers sufficient time for regeneration kinetics. As a result, charge collection efficiency of about 40% before $TiCl_4$ treatment is improved to 95% after $TiCl_4$ treatment. The large increase in voltage is due to the significant increase in electron life time, associated with upward shift of fermi energy.

The Role of $^{18}F$-Fluorodeoxyglucose Positron Emission Tomography in the Treatment of Brain Abscess

  • Objective : The purpose of this study was to evaluate whether $^{18}F$-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography (FOG-PET) can be used to assess the therapeutic response of brain abscess. Methods : A study was conducted on 10 consecutive patients with brain abscess, Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) with diffuse-weighted imaging (DWI) was performed at 3 and 6 weeks after surgical treatment and intravenous antibiotics therapy and FOG-PET at 6 weeks after treatment. The extent of the abscess, signal changes on MRI, and FOG-PET standardized uptake values were analyzed and correlated with the response to therapy. Results : Aspiration or craniotomy with excision of the abscess followed by intravenous antibiotics for 6-8 weeks resulted in good recovery with no recurrence. In 10 patients, two had low signal intensity on the DWI; one had no uptake on FOG-PET imaging after 6 weeks antibiotics and discontinued intravenous treatment, but the other patient had diffuse, increased uptake on FOG-PET imaging after 6 weeks antibiotics and underwent an additional 2 weeks of intravenous antibiotics. The remaining eight patients had high signals on the DWI. Four had no uptake on FOG-PET imaging and the treatment period varied from 6 to 8 weeks (mean, 6.75 weeks). Among the other four patients, FOG was accumulated in a diffuse or local area corresponding to a high signal area within the DWI and 2 weeks of intravenous antibiotics was added. Conclusion : MRI plus FOG-PET improved the accuracy of assessing therapeutic responses to antibiotics treatment of brain abscess and aided in optimizing therapy.

방부성(防腐性) 발수제(撥水劑)와 methyl metacrylate 이중처리(二重處理)에 의(依)한 붕소화합물(硼素化合物) 처리재(處理材)로부터 붕소(硼素)의 용탈(溶脫) 저항성(抵抗性)에 관(關)한 기초연구(基礎硏究) (Preliminary Study of the Leaching Resistance of Boron from Borate Treated Wood by the Dual Treatment with Water-Repellent Preservative and Methyl Metacrylate)

  • Sapwood samples of pitch pine were treated with disodium octaborate alone by dip-diffusion, or in combination with water-repellent preservative(WRP) and methyl metacrylate(MMA). Treated samples were subjected to an accelerated leaching test for determining the improvement of leaching resistance and to soft rot and mold tests for evaluating the increase in bioefficacy, due to the addition of WRP and MMA applied as a second treatment. The addition of WRP and MMA retarded leaching of boron to some extent from treated samples and this retardation can be explained by improved water repellency of WRP and MMA treated samples. Borate /WRP and borate /MMA systems will not qualify borate treated wood for ground and fresh water contact use but may improve performance of borate treated wood in above-ground applications not subjected to continuous wetting conditions. Bioefficacy against soft rot fungi and mold fungi was improved by a second treatment with WRP. However, improvement in the performance of borate /MMA systems was not observed. Considering improvement in both resistance of leaching and bioefficacy against micro fungi by the treatment of WRP and MMA, simultaneously, the dual treatment of borate treated wood by MMA containing co-biocides might be believed as an ideal treatment system.

Ti/Al/STS 클래드재의 접합특성에 미치는 예비 열처리의 영향 (Effect of Pre-Heat Treatment on Bonding Properties in Ti/Al/STS Clad Materials)

  • Titanium/aluminum/stainless steel(Ti/Al/STS) clad materials have received much attention due to their high specific strength and corrosion-resisting properties. However, it is difficult to fabricate these materials, because titanium oxide is easily formed on the titanium surface during heat treatment. The aim of the present study is to derive optimized cladding conditions and thereupon obtain the stable quality of Ti/Al/STS clad materials. Ti sheets were prepared with and without pre-heat treatment and Ti/Al/STS clad materials were then fabricated by cold rolling and a post-heat treatment process. Microstructure of the Ti/Al and STS/Al interfaces was observed using a Scanning Electron Microscope(SEM) and an Energy Dispersed X-ray Analyser(EDX) in order to investigate the effects of Ti pre-heat treatment on the bond properties of Ti/Al/STS clad materials. Diffusion bonding was observed at both the Ti/Al and STS/Al interfaces. The bonding force of the clad material with non-heat treated Ti was higher than that with pre-heat treated Ti before the cladding process. The bonding force decreased rapidly beyond $400^{\circ}C$, because the formed Ti oxide inhibited the joining process between Ti and Al. Bonding forces of STS/Al were lower than those of Ti/Al, because brittle $Fe_3Al$, $Al_3Fe$ intermetallic compounds were formed at the interface of STS/Al during the cladding process. In addition, delamination of the clad material with pre-heat treated Ti was observed at the Ti/Al interface after a cupping test.

활성탄에 의한 Acid Red 66의 흡착에 대한 등온선, 동력학 및 열역학적 특성 (Characteristics of Isotherm, Kinetic and Thermodynamic Parameters for the Adsorption of Acid Red 66 by Activated Carbon)

  • 입상 활성탄에 대한 Acid Red 66의 흡착 등온선과 동력학적, 열역학적 파라미터에 대해 염료의 초기농도, 접촉시간, 온도를 흡착변수로 하여 조사하였다. 흡착평형자료는 Langmuir, Freundlich, Temkin, Redlich-Peterson 및 Temkin 등온흡착식에 적용하였다. Freundlich 등온흡착식이 가장 잘 맞았으며, 계산된 Freundlich 분리계수 값(1/n = 0.125 ~ 0.232)으로부터 입상 활성탄이 Acid Red 66을 효과적으로 처리할 수 있다는 것을 알 수 있었다. Temkin의 흡착열관련상수(BT = 2.147 ~ 2.562 J mol-1)는 이 공정이 물리흡착임을 나타냈다. 동력학적 실험으로부터 흡착공정은 유사 이차 반응속도식에 잘 맞았다. 입자 내 확산식에 대한 결과는 경계층 확산을 나타내는 첫 번째 직선의 기울기보다 입자내 확산을 나타내는 두 번째 직선의 기울기가 작게 나타나서 입자 내 확산이 율속단계인 것을 확인하였다. 열역학 실험으로부터 활성화 에너지는 35.23 kJ mol-1로 흡착공정이 물리흡착공임을 확인하였다. Gibbs 자유에너지 변화(ΔG = -0.548 ~ -7.802 kJ mol-1)와 엔탈피 변화(ΔH = +109.112 kJ mol-1)은 각각 흡착공정이 자발적 공정 및 흡열과정임을 나타내었다. 등량흡착열은 흡착된 염료분자들의 측면상호작용을 나타내는 표면부하량이 증가함에 따라 증가하였다.

식중독 세균에 대한 소목 추출물의 항균 활성 (Antimicrobial Effect of Caesalpinia sappan L. Extract on Foodborne Bacteria)

  • 본 실험은 식용 가능한 약용식물을 대상으로 하여 항균 활성을 검색하였다. 미생물에 대하여 약용 식물을 50 mg/mL, 100 mg/mL, 200 mg/mL의 농도로 하여 paper disc agar diffusion assay로 항균 활성을 검색한 결과 소목 추출물에서 가장 높은 항균 활성을 나타내었다. 이에 따라 소목의 에탄올 추출물과 열수 추출물을 각각 200 mg/mL, 100 mg/mL, 50 mg/mL의 농도로 하여 paper disc agar diffusion assay로 항균 활성을 검색한 결과 소목 추출물은 그람 양성균에서 높은 항균 활성을 나타내었고, 소목의 에탄올 추출물이 소목의 열수 추출물보다 높은 항균 활성을 나타내었다. 소목 에탄올 추출물과 열수 추출물의 각 분획물을 50 mg/mL의 농도로 하여 paper disc agar diffusion assay로 항균 활성을 검색한 결과 그람 양성균은 클로로포름, 에틸아세테이트, 부탄올 층에서 항균 활성을 나타내었고, 그람 음성균은 항균 활성을 나타내지 않았다. 소목의 항균 물질로 추정되는 brazilin은 주로 에틸아세테이트 분획층에 존재하므로 소목 에탄올 추출물에서 클로로포름, 에틸아세테이트, 부탄올의 항균 활성이 유사한 점으로 미루어 brazilin 외에도 다양한 항균 물질이 존재하여 이들이 복합적으로 작용하여 항균 활성을 나타내는 것으로 생각한다. 현재까지 가장 강력한 항생제로 알려진 vancomycin과의 항균 활성을 비교한 결과 50 mg/mL 농도에서 소목 75% 에탄올 추출물의 항균 활성은 vancomycin 2.5 mg/mL를 사용하였을 때와 유사한 항균 활성을 나타내었다. 소목의 추출물을 가지고 미생물에 대한 최소저해농도를 측정한 결과 C. difficile KCTC 5009, L. monocytogens ATCC 19115의 최소저해농도는 0.06 mg/mL였고, S. aureus KCTC 1916에 대한 최소저해농도는 0.03 mg/mL였다. Vancomycin의 유효혈청농도는 0.005~0.04 mg/mL로 견줄만한 항균 활성을 나타내었다. 소목추출물을 가지고 열 및 pH 안정성을 측정한 결과는 항균력은 C. difficile KCTC 5009, L. monocytogens ATCC 19115, S. aureus KCTC 1916에서 모두 대조구와 비슷하게 억제환이 생성되어 소목 추출물의 항균성 물질은 열 및 pH에 대체로 안정한 결과를 보여주었다. 상기 결과들을 종합해 볼 때 소목 에탄올 추출물이 그람 양성균에 대해 항균활성이 뛰어난 것으로 보아 소목을 그람 양성의 병원성 미생물을 억제하기 위한 항균제제 및 기능성 식품의 소재로써 활용할 수 있다고 판단된다.

W 및 Ti 박막 위에서 나노결정질 다이아몬드의 성장 거동 (Growth of Nanocrystalline Diamond on W and Ti Films)

  • The growth behavior of nanocrystalline diamond (NCD) film has been studied for three different substrates, i.e. bare Si wafer, 1 ${\mu}m$ thick W and Ti films deposited on Si wafer by DC sputter. The surface roughness values of the substrates measured by AFM were Si < W < Ti. After ultrasonic seeding treatment using nanometer sized diamond powder, surface roughness remained as Si < W < Ti. The contact angles of the substrates were Si ($56^{\circ}$) > W ($31^{\circ}$) > Ti ($0^{\circ}$). During deposition in the microwave plasma CVD system, NCD particles were formed and evolved to film. For the first 0.5h, the values of NCD particle density were measured as Si < W < Ti. Since the energy barrier for heterogeneous nucleation is proportional to the contact angle of the substrate, the initial nucleus or particle densities are believed to be Si < W < Ti. Meanwhile, the NCD growth rate up to 2 h was W > Si > Ti. In the case of W substrate, NCD particles were coalesced and evolved to the film in the short time of 0.5 h, which could be attributed to the fact that the diffusion of carbon species on W substrate was fast. The slower diffusion of carbon on Si substrate is believed to be the reason for slower film growth than on W substrate. The surface of Ti substrate was observed as a vertically aligned needle shape. The NCD particle formed on the top of a Ti needle should be coalesced with the particle on the nearby needle by carbon diffusion. In this case, the diffusion length is longer than that of Si or W substrate which shows a relatively flat surface. This results in a slow growth rate of NCD on Ti substrate. As deposition time is prolonged, NCD particles grow with carbon species attached from the plasma and coalesce with nearby particles, leaving many voids in NCD/Ti interface. The low adhesion of NCD films on Ti substrate is related to the void structure of NCD/Ti interface.
