The effectiveness of fly ash-, quicklime-, and quicklime-fly ash-based stabilization/solidification(S/S) in chromium(Cr) contaminated soils was investigated using modified semi-dynamic leaching tests. Artificial soil samples composed of kaolinite or montmorillonite contaminated with chromium nitrate(4000 mg $Cr^{3+}\;kg^{-1}$ of solid) were prepared and then subjected to S/S treatment using quicklime, fly ash, or quick lime-fly ash. The effectiveness of the treatment was evaluated by assessing the cumulative fraction of leached $Cr^{3+}$ as well as, by computing the effective diffusivity ($D_e$) and the leachability index (LX) of the treated samples. The reduction in $Cr^{3+}$ release for the untreated samples was more pronounced in the presence of montmorillonite, which was attributed to sorption. Treatment with quicklime, fly ash, or quick lime-fly ash was significantly effective in reducing $Cr^{3+}$ release most probably due to the formation of pozzolanic reaction products and $Cr(OH)_3$ precipitation. The most effective treatment was observed in montmorillonite-sand soil samples treated with quicklime-fly ash (99.8% removal). The mean $D_e$ decreased significantly and the mean LX was greater than 9 for all treated samples, indicating that the treated soils were acceptable for "controlled utilization". The mechanism controlling $Cr^{3+}$ leaching from all treated samples during the first 5 days appeared to be diffusion.
The purpose of the review article was to summarize and discuss the available information concerning the effect of bleaching on human teeth and reduced treatment on negative influence. Tooth bleaching effect was differ from extent of concentration and application period of a tooth bleaching agent, certainly full knowledge prior treatment about adverse effect possible appearance and follow clinical treatment for the least reduce. It remains unclear in how far those observation may result in significant adverse effect under clinical conditions. Nevertheless, further investigation are necessary to elucidate these aspect more precisely. The findings of the study were as follows : 1. It is recommended to delay placement of restorations after termination of bleaching therapy for at least 1-3 weeks. 2. Reduced negative influence that is clinical feasibility of catalase in protecting bleached surface against Oxygen radical. 3. The residual peroxide in tooth after bleaching seems to be removed by gradual diffusion and it may be possible to eliminate the adverse effect on tooth by using water displacement solution, ethylalcohol and aceton including it for effective removal of free radical oxygen.
Recently, there were many researches for efficiency improvement of DSC. Among of these works, research of surface treatment is still a prerequisite for electron diffusion, light-harvesting and surface state of DSC.[1] Using of the surface treatment, it can be raise up porosity of $TiO_2$ nano-crystalline structure on photo-electrode. There are chemical, physical, electrical and optical methods which raise up its porosity. In this paper, we have designed and manufactured MOPA-type ultrasonic circuit (100W, frequency and duty variable). Manufactured ultrasonic circuit to use to force cavity density and power into $TiO_2$ paste. Then, we have optimized forcing time, frequency and duty of ultrasonic irradiation for surface treatment of photo-electrode of DSC. In I-V characteristic test of DSC, ultrasonic and thermal treated DSC shows 19% improved its efficiency against monolithic DSC. And it shows stability of light-harvesting from drastically change of light irradiation test.

The properties of $Cr_2O_3-Al_2O_3-SiO_2$ composite oxide coatings on steel surface were investigated. The results obtained were as follows: The microhardness of oxide coating layer increased with increasing heat-treatment temperature and $Cr_2O_3$ content in coating layer. The hardness showed the highest value (850Hv) treated at 700$^{\circ}C$ for $SiO_2:Al_2O_3:Cr_2O_3$=1:1:4. Increasing heat-treatment temperature, corrosion current density became lower and coating layer became denser. The corrosion current density showed the lowest value $(6.5{\times}10^{-5}\;Acm^2)$ treated at 750$^{\circ}C\;for\;SiO_2:Al_2O_3:Cr_2O_3$=1:1:3. These results were explained by protective layer which was formed during heat-treatment. The bonding between matrix and coating layer is expected to be made mechanically and chemically by the inter diffusion of Ni and Fe. The composite oxide coating was formed by softening of the binder with increasing heat-treatment temperature. The strengthening of coating layer is to be resulted from the dispersion of major oxide particles.

Storage stability of ginger paste product was investigated from the standpoint of the inhibition of nonenzymatic browning and loss of gingerol contents. For the experimentations, control, 0.04% of N-acetyl-L-cysteine in ginger paste(NAcCys), and combination treatment of NAcCys, 0.92 of water activity and 6.30 of pH in ginger paste (mixed treatment) were stored at 3$0^{\circ}C$ for 40 days and analyzed for browning and gingerol contents. In addition the changes in sugars, organic acids, ascorbic acids, amino acids, and sensory quality were determined. The results revealed that the mixed treatment agent was effective in preventing both nonenzymatic browning and loss of gingerol contents. The inhibition by combination treatment might be resulted from the control of radical formations by sulfhydryl groups of NAcCys and the increase of diffusion resistance in lower water activity. Browning development and total gingerol contents were found to be correlated to some physicochemical characteristics of ginger paste; that is, browning development to amino acid and color value in sensory evaluation, and total gingerol contents to flavor in sensory evaluation.
The influence of post-roll bonding heat treatment conditions such as temperature and time on the variation in the diffusion layer, generated at the bonding interface and the subsequent mechanical properties of the roll-bonded Ti grade 1/Al1050/Ti grade 1 sheets, was systematically investigated. The intermetallic compound (IMC) phase generated by post heat treatment conditions adopted in this study was obviously indexed as monolithic TiAl3. Whereas the thickness of IMC layer generated by annealing at 500 ℃ was approximately 100 nm scale, it drastically increased above 1.5 ㎛ when annealed at 600 ℃. Uniaxial tensile and peel tests were then performed to compare mechanical properties. As a result, the bonding strength drastically increased above 7.9 N/mm by annealing at 600 ℃, which implies that proper annealing condition was a prerequisite, to improving interface bonding strength as well as global elongation properties for Ti/Al/Ti 3-ply sheet.
This study was performed to evaluate the usefulness of Deconvolution perfusion CT in patients with acute cerebral infarction. Nine patients with acute cerebral infarction underwent conventional CT and cerebral perfusion CT within 23 hours of the onset of symptoms. The perfusion CT scan for each patient was obtained at the levels of basal ganglia and 1cm caudal to the basal ganglia. By special imaging software, perfusion images including cerebral blood volume(CBV), cerebral blood flow(CBF), and mean transit time(MTT) maps were created. The created lesions were evaluated on each perfusion maps by 3 radiolocical technician. MTT delay time was measured in the perfusion defect lesion and symmetric contralateral normal cerebral hemisphere. Lesion sire were measured on each perfusion map and compared with the value obtained by diffusion weighted MR imaging(DWMRI). All perfusion CT maps showed the perfusion defect lesion in all patients. There were remarkable CT delay in perfusion defect lesion. In comparison of lesion size between each perfusion map and DWMRI, the lesion on CBF map was the most closely correlated with the lesion on DWMRI(7/9). The size of perfusion defect lesion on MTT map was larger than that of lesion on DWMRI, suggesting that m map can evaluate the ischemic penumbra. Deconvolution Perfusion CT maps make it possible to evaluate not only ischemic core and ischemic penumbra but also hemodynamic status in perfusion defect area. These results demonstrate that perfusion CT can be useful to the diagnosis and treatment in the patients with acute cerebral ischemic infarction.
Purpose : To investigate whether quantitative parameters derived from Diffusion-weighted magnetic resonance imaging (DW-MRI) correlate with those of Dynamic contrast-enhanced MRI (DCE-MRI). Materials and Methods: Thirteen patients with pathologically or clinically proven bony metastasis who had undergone MRI prior to treatment were included. The voxel size was $1.367{\times}1.367{\times}5mm$. A dominant tumor was selected and the apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) value and DCE-MRI parameters were obtained by matching voxels. DCE-MRI data were analyzed yielding estimates of $K^{trans}$ (volume transfer constant) and $v_e$. (extravascular extracellular volume fraction). Statistical analysis of ADC, $K^{trans}$, and $v_e$ value was conducted using Pearson correlation analyses. Results: Fifteen lesions in pelvic bones were evaluated. Of these, 11 showed a statistically significant correlation (P<0.05) between ADC and $K^{trans}$. The ADC and $K^{trans}$ were inversely related in 7 lesions and positively related in 4 lesions. This did not depend on the primary cancer or site of metastasis. The ADC and $v_e$ of 9 lesions correlated significantly. Of these, 4 lesions were inversely related and 5 lesions were positively related. Conclusion: Unlike our theoretic hypothesis, there was no consistent correlation between ADC values and $K^{trans}$ or between ADC values and $v_e$ in metastatic bone tumors.

For decades, carbon fiber has expanded their application fields from reinforced composites to energy storage and transfer technologies such as electrodes for super-capacitors and lithium ion batteries and gas diffusion layers for proton exchange membrane fuel cell. Especially in fuel cell, water repellency of gas diffusion layer has become very important property for preventing flooding which is induced by condensed water could damage the fuel cell performance. In this work, we fabricated superhydrophobic network of carbon fiber with high aspect ratio hair-like nanostructure by preferential oxygen plasma etching. Superhydrophobic carbon fiber surfaces were achieved by hydrophobic material coating with a siloxane-based hydrocarbon film, which increased the water contact angle from $147^{\circ}$ to $163^{\circ}$ and decreased the contact angle hysteresis from $71^{\circ}$ to below $5^{\circ}$, sufficient to cause droplet roll-off from the surface in millimeter scale water droplet deposition test. Also, we have explored that the condensation behavior (nucleation and growth) of water droplet on the superhydrophobic carbon fiber were significantly retarded due to the high-aspect-ratio nanostructures under super-saturated vapor conditions. It is implied that superhydrophobic carbon fiber can provide a passage for vapor or gas flow in wet environments such as a gas diffusion layer requiring the effective water removal in the operation of proton exchange membrane fuel cell. Moreover, such nanostructuring of carbon-based materials can be extended to carbon fiber, carbon black or carbon films for applications as a cathode in lithium batteries or carbon fiber composites.
Objectives: Pleurotus eryngii is used both for edible and medicinal purposes, and has a physiological activity. The purpose of this study is to investigate the antibacterial effect of Pleurotus eryngii against six oral pathogens (Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus criceti, Streptococcus mutans, Streptococcus ratti, Streptococcus sobrinus, and Actinomyces viscosus). Methods: The antibacterial activities of various extracts of Pleurotus eryngii were examined by disc diffusion assay and minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC). The disc diffusion assay was performed by putting a paper disc soaked in extracts on plates inoculated bacterial cultures. The MIC of these extracts was determined by using a broth microdilution assay at a concentration ranging between 0.03 mg/ml to 15.00 mg/ml. The growth inhibition effect of extracts was measured at 600 nm for 24 hrs. Results: The antibacterial activity was confirmed against all six tested bacteria at Pleurotus eryngii ethyl acetate extract by the disc diffusion method. Acetone extract showed the antibacterial activity only against 4 strains containing Streptococcus criceti, Streptococcus mutans, Streptococcus ratti, and Actinomyces viscosus. In ethanol extract, no activity was observed against other strains except Staphylococcus aureus. MIC values of ethyl acetate extract were the same, 7.50 mg/ml in all tested bacteria. Conclusions: Pleurotus eryngii exhibited the antibacterial activity against oral pathogens (Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus criceti, Streptococcus mutans, Streptococcus ratti, Streptococcus sobrinus, and Actinomyces viscosus). Thus, Pleurotus eryngii may be considered as a natural antibacterial agent for treatment of dental diseases.
