The promise of improved productivity and quality has lead to numerous research investigations in machining process monitoring and control. Recent studies have demonstrated that careful attention must be paid to the regulation of multiple process modules within a single operation such that each module performs its function properly and adverse interactions between modules do not occur. This had lead to the development of supervisory control; particularly to the development of methodologies to systemati-cally construct and implement these controllers. However, no research study has investigated the effect of the production environ-ment on the design of supervisor controllers. In this paper, the design of supervisory controllers for various production environ-ment is studied. The design approach given in Landers and Ulsoy(1998) is applied to construct two supervisory machining control-lers that are experimentally implemented in a face milling operation. Comparisons with an experimental implementation without process control illustrate the benefits of utilizing process controllers that are coordinated properly. The results also show that the given design approach may be used to construct supervisory controllers for different types of production environments.
A universal plasma-chemical module (PChM) for the industrial processing of different hydrocarbon raw material pyrolysis was designed and tested. Laboratory investigations for the plasma-chemical method of acetylene production from natural gas and different coals were made. Similar laboratory tests on the industrial production of acetylene as a raw material for organic syn-thesis were developed using the PChM. A comparison of the suggested plasma-chemical method with the traditional process of acetylene production were carried out. The outlook of the plasma-chemical method was shown.

The current trends of product customization and repair of high value parts with individual defects demand automation and a high degree of flexibility of the involved manufacturing process chains. To determine the corresponding requirements this paper gives an overview of manufacturing process chains by distinguishing between horizontal and vertical process chains. The established way of modeling and programming processes with CAx systems and existing approaches is shown. Furthermore, the different types of possible adaptions of a manufacturing process chain are shown and considered as a cascaded control loop. Following this it is discussed which key requirements of repair process chains are unresolved by existing approaches. To overcome the deficits this paper introduces repair features which comprise the idea of geometric features and defines analytical auxiliary geometries based on the measurement input data. This meets challenges normally caused by working directly on reconstructed geometries in the form of triangulated surfaces which are prone to artifacts. Embedded into function blocks, this allows the use of traditional approaches for manufacturing process chains to be applied to adaptive repair process chains.

The modular building system is a type of prefabricated construction method, and is an industrialized building system that transports, assembles, and completes a three-dimensional module manufactured in a factory to the site. The economics of a modular building system where 50 to 80% of the entire process takes place in a modular factory is dominated by productivity of the factory manufacturing process. Since the building of the module is finished by the combination of unit parts produced by each material, it is necessary to manage the process in each module unit. However, currently marketed process control programs do not reflect the features of these modular methods. In this paper, we introduce Modular Factory Design software(MFD 2019) that can make modular unit production plan which reflects production base(modular factory) and production target(application and number of modular units). In order to verify software compatibility and reliability, two production plans with different production methods were formulated and simulated.

Nowadays, flat-shaped cover glass is widely used for mobile devices. However, for its good design and convenience of use, curved cover glass has been demanded. Thus, many companies have tried to produce curved cover glass through the shaving technique, but the production efficiency is very low. Therefore, the molding technique has been adopted to increase the efficiency for the curved-glass production system. For a glass-molding system, several heating blocks are installed, and the flat cover glass is sequentially heated and molded. The production time for the cover glass is very different depending on the heating conditions; thus, the prediction of the production time for different heating conditions should be needed. Therefore, in this study, the computations were performed with different heating conditions (uniform and non-uniform) in the present cover glass-molding machine. For uniform and non-uniform heating conditions, the simple correlation between the heating time and the heater capacity and the heating time to achieve higher durability can be suggested, respectively.

It is still difficult to share and utilize the information generated at each phase of a steel box girder production process due to the spatial gap and different level of management information. The physical distance results in the inefficiency of the information transmission, the accidental omission and typos of the relative information, and so on. Various levels of management information make it difficult to embody a new management system. Eventually, these factors incur the loss of cost and schedule and interrupt development of a new management system. This paper analyzes a current process and presents graphical process flow by using IDEF0. Based this analysis, the research for new production process and work breakdown structure (WBS) is conducted. At the end of this paper, the conceptual design of this system is suggested. Through new management system, it is expected that the model proposed in this study will improve the management process in the steel box production, and the improved process will reduce the redundant cost and schedule information, transmission and deposit generated by manual paper.

In the trend of globalization and location transfer of existing production bases is still characterized by an extremely unstable status between different countries and different regions. The results are negative impacts on cost, quality and speed of project implementation, especially automobile industry which is one of the most complex manufacturing sectors. In order to overcome problems from Global Standardization of Production Line and its Localization, it is highly required comprehensive coordination among design of production equipment, production technology, space and interfaces. It is necessary to set up standard of production equipment and building for parallel progress, in order to complete production line in shortest time for launching product. In addition, this standard should keep flexibility with consideration of local situation which means "Glocalization."

Traditionally it has been assumed that written abilities are completely dependent on phonology. Therefore spoken and written language skills in aphasic patients have been known to exhibit similar types of impairment. However, a number of latest studies have reported the findings that support the orthographic autonomy hypothesis. The purpose of this study was to examine whether fluent aphasic patients have discrepancy between speaking and writing skills, thereby identifying whether the two skills are realized through independent processes. To this end, this study compared the K-FAST speaking and writing tasks of 30 aphasia patients. In addition, 16 aphasia patients, who were capable of producing sentences not only in speaking but also in writing, were compared in their performances at each phase of the sentence production process. As a result, the subjects exhibited different performances between speaking and writing, along with statistically significant differences between the two language skills at positional and phonological encoding phases of the sentence production process. Therefore, the study's results suggest that written language is more likely to be produced via independent routes without the mediation of the process of spoken language production, beginning from a certain phase of the sentence production process.
The drilling angle of the well is an important factor that can affect the sand production process and make its destructive effects more severe or weaker. This study investigated the effect of different well angles on sand production for the Asmari Formation, located in one of the oil fields southwest of Iran. For this purpose, a finite difference model was developed for three types of vertical (90°), inclined (45°), and horizontal (0°) wells with casing and perforations in the direction of minimum and maximum horizontal stresses, then coupled with fluid flow. Here, finite element meshing was used, because the geometry of the model is so complex and the implementation of finite difference meshes is impossible or very difficult for such models. Using a combined FDM-FEM model with fluid flow, the sand production process in three different modes with different flow rates for the Asmari sandstone was investigated in this study. The results of numerical models show that the intensity of sand production is directly related to the in-situ stress state of the oil field and well drilling angle. Since the stress regime in the studied oil field is normal, the highest amount of produced sand was in inclined wells (especially wells drilled in the direction of minimum horizontal stress) and the lowest amount of sand production was related to vertical wellbore. Also, the Initiation time of sand production in inclined wells was much shorter than in other wellbores.
The TOC/DBR and Six Sigma are the most attention-getting concepts for managing manufacturing companies in Korea. Using the ideas and methods of the TOC/DBR, companies can achieve a large reduction of work-in-process and finished-good inventories, significant improvement in scheduling performance, and substantial earnings increase. The Six Sigma approach derives the overall process of selecting the right projects based on their potential to improve performance metrics and selecting/training the right people to get the business results. These two concepts have different backgrounds and different viewpoints for production systems. So, if the two concepts collaborate each other, the synergy effects to innovate production systems can be expected. This paper proposes a new approach to implement the TOC/DBR concepts in production systems. This approach uses some concepts of Six Sigma which stresses educations, project approaches (step by step procedure using a Roadmap), and improvement philosophy.
