This study empirically investigated cultural differences in the amount of information provided by managerial accounting information systems as well as the differences in organizational performance according to variations in the amount of information. Through cluster analysis, I classified sample firms into five organizational cultural types: Semi-innovative, innovative, bureaucratic, semi-bureaucratic and supportive. The results showed that in the semi-innovative firms, a greater amount of the traditional and advanced types of information is produced, while in bureaucratic firms, traditional information is much more provided than in the innovative, semi-bureaucratic and supportive firms. These results confirmed cultural differences in the amount of information produced. According to the results of this study, it was found that in organizational performance, the rankings of semi-innovative firms, which have the highest scores in the amount of information, are also the highest, and the performance scores in innovative firms are generally next to those of semi-innovative firms. Hence it is concluded that there are cultural differences in the amount of information provided and theses differences affect organizational performance
This study examines differences in the household saving show significant differences according to the specific stage of family life cycle. 337 housewives in Taegu were interviewed by questionnaire. There has been a large amount of speculation concerning the differences in the outcomes in patients who have gastric cancer in the Eastern and Western worlds. The differences in biology, surgical and adjuvant treatment have been used to explain such differences. There are clear differences observed in the histology (diffuse vs. intestinal), tumor location (proximal vs. distal), environmental exposures, dietary factors and Helicobacter pylori status. A higher incidence of gastric cancer in the East has led to screening programs, and leading to an earlier stage at presentation. Surgical treatment differs in that the extended lymph node dissection is routinely practiced in the Asian countries. Additionally, different adjuvant therapeutic regimens are used in both regions. The purpose of this review is to describe the differences in both presentation and treatment between the East and the West.
This paper proposes texture descriptor for texture classification called Local Neighbor Differences (LND). LND is a high discriminating texture descriptor and also robust to illumination changes. The proposed descriptor utilizes the sign of differences between surrounding pixels in a local neighborhood. The differences of those pixels are thresholded to form an 8-bit binary codeword. The decimal values of these 8-bit code words are computed and they are called LND values. A histogram of the resulting LND values is created and used as feature to describe the texture information of an image. Experimental results, with respect to texture classification accuracies using OUTEX_TC_00001 test suite has been performed. The results show that LND outperforms LBP method, with average classification accuracies of 92.3% whereas that of local binary patterns (LBP) is 90.7%.
This study aims to establish a research model to see how cultural differences affect negotiation outcomes. People from different countries tend to communicate in slightly different ways. So Recognizing the cultural differences in global businesses is an important preparation process and strategy. If such preparations are not made before doing business with companies in other cultures, many conflicts could arise in the negotiation process and even the negotiations could break down. Therefore, it is important to recognize cultural differences and establish appropriate strategies in international negotiations, and it is necessary to take a look at the factors that affect them one by one. For the purpose of this study, Cultural differences based on Edward Hall's context theory and Personal characteristics were set as moderator variables. and The EU countries(low context cultures) and the Korea(high context cultures) were sampled to study the effects of Negotiation strategy(Problem-Solving Approach).
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine the change in the kinematics and kinetics of the knee joint depending on high-heeled shoes during sit-to-stand (SitTS) task. Methods: Nineteen healthy females participated in this study. The subjects performed the SitTS task wearing high-heeled shoes and barefoot. The experiment was repeated three times for each task with foot conditions. The kinematics and kinetics of the knee joint were measured and analyzed using a 3D motion analysis system. Results: The result of this study showed kinematic and kinetics differences in knee joints during the SitTS task based on high-heeled shoes. Significant differences in knee flexion angle were observed during SitTS. The knee extensor force showed statistically significant differences during SitTS tasks. At the initial of SitTS, the knee flexor and extensor moment showed significant differences. The knee extensor moment showed statistically significant differences at the terminal of SitTS. At the maximum of SitTS, the knee extensor moment showed statistically significant differences. Conclusion: Therefore, wearing high-heeled shoes during SitTS movements in daily life is considered to influence knee joint kinematics and kinetics due to the HH, suggesting the possibility of increased risk of patellofemoral pain, and knee osteoarthritis caused by changes in loading of the knee joint.
This study investigates clothing consumption behavior of fast fashion purchasers according to environmental consciousness. Questionnaire examined 245 males and females in Busan who experienced fast fashion product purchases. Data were analyzed using factor analysis, t-test. ANOVA, Duncan Test and ${\chi}^{2}-test$. The results are as follows. First, the result showed significant differences in environmental consciousness education according to demographic characteristics. Second, the results showed significant differences in the hedonic pursuit of purchase motivation for fast fashion products according to environmental consciousness. The low environmental awareness group pursued hedonic purchases towards the purchase motivation of fast fashion products. The results showed significant differences in fast fashion disposal behavior according to environmental consciousness; however, not for the disposal motivation of fast fashion. In the disposal behavior of fast fashion, the high environmental awareness group indicated social friendly disposal and the middle environmental awareness group indicated economical disposal. The result showed significant gender differences towards clothing consumption behavior of fast fashion according to demographic characteristics. Males and females showed significant differences in all purchase motivation factor for fast fashion products. They also showed significant differences in economical disposal towards fast fashion disposal behavior.
As automated image processing techniques have been required in multi-temporal/multi-sensor geospatial image applications, use of automated but highly invariant image matching technique has been a critical ingredient. Note that there is high possibility of geometric and spectral differences between multi-temporal/multi-sensor geospatial images due to differences in sensor, acquisition geometry, season, and weather, etc. Among many image matching techniques, the SIFT (Scale Invariant Feature Transform) is a popular method since it has been recognized to be very robust to diverse imaging conditions. Therefore, the SIFT has high potential for the geospatial image processing. This paper presents a performance test results of the SIFT on geospatial imagery by simulating various image differences such as shear, scale, rotation, intensity, noise, and spectral differences. Since a geospatial image application often requires a number of good matching points over the images, the number of matching points was analyzed with its matching positional accuracy. The test results show that the SIFT is highly invariant but could not overcome significant image differences. In addition, it guarantees no outlier-free matching such that it is highly recommended to use outlier removal techniques such as RANSAC (RANdom SAmple Consensus).
The purpose of this study was to compare the flexibility and isokinetic differences between normal dancers and dancers with chronically sprained ankle. For the experiment Eversion/Inversion testing was performed by a Cybex 770 isokinetic dynamometer at the a speeds of 30$^{\circ}$ /sec and 120$^{\circ}$ /sec on each 7 subject group. The results were; 1) No differences were found between the two groups in ROM of ankle, but ROM of eversion has 2.8$^{\circ}$ higher in the injury group than the normal group. 2) Differences were found between the two groups in peak torque. average power, total work at the evertor and invertor in injury side.(30$^{\circ}$ /sec) 3) Differences were found between the two groups in peak torque at the evertor and invertor in normal side.(30$^{\circ}$ /sec) 4) Differences were found between the two groups in total work at the evertor in normal side. (30$^{\circ}$ /sec) 5) Differences were found between the two groups in peak torque, total work at the evertor and invertor in injury side. (120$^{\circ}$ /sec)
