The Effects of Zymolysis-Dietotherapy with Herbal medicine on Obesity in Sasang Constitution (발효식이요법과 한약의 병행치료가 사상체질별 비만치료에 미치는 영향)

  • Obhectives : The purposes of this study are to evaluate the effect of zymolysis-dietotherapy with herbal medicine on the obesity in Sasang constitution Methods : Seventy five patients were classified into four obesity groups by Body Mass Index, and four Sasang constitution groups by QSCC. Weight, body fat, body fat rate, BMI were compared in each group. Results : Weight, body fat, body fat rate, BMI were decreased significantly in all groups. There was statistically significant difference in the loss of weight, BMI between Taeumin and others. Decrement of body fat rate is not statistically significant between Taeumin and others. Conclusions : In conclusion, it was proved that zymolysis-dietotherapy with herbal medication is effective on the obesity treatment of all Sasang constitution groups. And the group of Taeumin lose more weight.

  • Background: Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is affective a large portion of the world population prompting the need for extensive healthcare resources such as lifelong dialysis or kidney transplantation. The beneficial effect of conventional therapy in controlling the CKD progression remains a challenge due to their relative efficacy, safety, and accessibility. On the other hand, Unani medicine provides a therapeutic regimen that consists of a combination of treatment from rehabilitation to herbal pharmacotherapy. Methods: Two cases of chronic kidney disease were treated with dietotherapy, regimenal therapy ('bukhoor aam') and oral herbal drugs for 2-3 weeks. Endpoints of evaluation were symptoms and signs of the CKD, kidney function test, urine albumin, urine RBC, hemoglobin and liver function test. Result: Notable improvement was observed in the endpoints. Conclusion: Unani treatment was observed preliminarily beneficial in the treatment of chronic kidney disease. Rigorous pharmacological and clinical studies should be performed to warrant their efficacy and safety in CKD individuals.

  • Objective : The purposes of this study are to evaluate the effect of zymolysis-dietotherapy with herbal formula on the obesity and to improve the oriental medical methods of treatment in obesity patients. Methods : Forty one patients were classified into four groups(Normal, Overweight, 1st Obesity, 2nd Obesity) by Body Mass Index(BMI). Weight, body fat rate, BMI and obesity index were compared in each group by paired t-test. Results : The weight, BMI and obesity index were decreased significantly in all groups. Except normal group, the body fat were decreased significantly. The body fat rate were decreased significantly in 1st obesity and 2nd obesity groups. Conclusions : From these results, it could be concluded that zymolysis-dietotherapy with herbal medication is effective on obesity care.

Characteristics of the Requirement for U-healthcare Service Providing Contents for Dietary Life of the Old People (고령자의 식생활 관리 콘텐츠 제공형 U-Healthcare 서비스 요구 특성)

  • Along with the social interests and needs for health, the U-Healthcare Service as a new model to control individual dietary life and to prevent chronic diseases is now drawing the public attention. In this study, the characteristics of the requirement of U-Healthcare Service were investigated from subjects aged over 50 years old. As parts of the expectation to the U-Healthcare service, the customized clinical care & control (37.7%) and the systematic understanding of individual health state (21.4%) appeared significantly. And for the application of the U-Healthcare Service to the field of healthcare, the control of dietotherapy (43.9%) appeared higher than anything else and thus the customized service for individual dietotherapy seemed to be needed. Regarding the field of searching for health information, the disease control (35.6%), food materials (28.6%), and recipe for health foods (22.7%) appeared in sequence and revealed that the majority over 50% of subjects were interested in foods. The requirements for the information of dietary formula were also investigated through 5 points scaled questionnaires on respective topics of nutritive components, menus customized for corresponding health states (diseases), and the results obtained from surveys on respective topics all showed the needs for all information by representing each point value exceeded 3.9. Through the results obtained from this study, the provision of customized information enabling the nutritional control in accordance with individual states of health or disease was estimated to be needed for the popularization of U-Healthcare Service providing contents for dietary life of clients especially those of aged over 50 years.
