To improve the mechanical properties, dimensional stability and blood compatibility, the biomedical material $Pellethene^{(R)}$ was blended with multiblock polyurethane (MPU) containing phospopholipid/long alkyl chain (C-18) at the various MPU contents and crosslinked using dicumyl peroxide as a crosslinking agent. The maximum MPU content for stable $Pellethene^{(R)}$/MPU blended films was approximately 30 wt%. The optimum crosslinking agent content and crosslinking time with respect to the mechanical properties were 4 wt% and 3 h, respectively. The mechanical properties (tensile strength and elongation at break) and water absorption of the crosslinked blend film increased with increasing MPU content. The test of platelet adhesion on the surfaces of the crosslinked blend film showed a decrease in the level of platelet adhesion from 70% to 6% with increasing MPU content from 0 to 30 wt%. These results suggest that the crosslinked $Pellethene^{(R)}$/MPU-30 (MPU content: 30 wt%) sample has strong potential as a novel material for blood compatible material applications.
The blends of ethylene-propylene-diene terpolymer (EPDM) and high density polyethylene (HDPE) have been studied. Blends were prepared in a laboratory internal mixer, where EPDM was cured under shear with dicumyl peroxide (DCP) in the absence of HDPE and later blended with HDPE (cure-blend). The effect of DCP concentration, shear intensity of the mixing, and rubber/plastic composition were studied on the rheological, thermal and physical properties of the cure-blend. The results obtained were compared with those from blend-cure of Lee and Kim's work and discussed.

We studied about electrical, chemical and mechanical characteristics of XLPE by dicumyl peroxide(DCP) and trimethylolpropane triacrylate(TMPTA) content ratio. DCP content was changed from 1.0 to 2.5phr increasing 0.5phr. TMPTA content was changed 0.5 to 1.5phr increasing 0.5phr. Thermal analysis (DSC) was carried out in order to observe tendency of 79 according to DCP and TMPTA content. In experimental results, content DCP 2.0phr and TMPTA 1.0phr has highest breakdown strength. Content DCP 2.0phr and TMPTA 0.5phr has lowest dielectric constant. Tendency of Tg did not affected by DCP and TMPTA content. Breakdown strength and Specific inductive capacity was measured.
Recycling of ethylene-propylene-diene terpolymer (EPDM) scrap was tried by blending with polypropylene (PP). EPDM scrap powder was prepared by shear pulverization process at high temperature, which may lead to selective chain scission induced by difference in the critical elastic coefficient. On the other hand, EPDM scrap powder was prepared by adding a selected reclaiming agent during shear pulverization process at high temperature. Terpene as a bonding agent was then introduced to improve adhesion property. PP, used as a matrix for manufacturing thermoplastic elastomer, was modified by the incorporation of dicumyl peroxide and maleic anhydride. The functionalized EPDM and modified PP were blended and cured dynamically at $190^{\circ}C$. The blend materials prepared in this study showed the comparable results to those of conventional TPE in terms of tensile and flow properties. Also, the odor component of recycled EPDM was analyzed using GC-MS.

Crosslinked polyethlyene/silane crosslinked polyethylene(XLPE/SXLPE) blends were prepared by a twin screw extruder and their water tree growing electrical breakdown and crossinking characteristics were investigated. The water tree characteristics of XLPE were improved by the addition of SXLPE when samples were crosslinked only by the thermorolysis of DCP (dicumyl peroxide). However steam curing process was not good for water tree characteristics. It was also found that the rate of water tree growing of XLPE/SXLPE blend increased when the content of SXLPE was 50%. AC breadown strength slightly increaed by the addition of SXLPE to XLPE when samples were crosslinked only by the thermorolysis of DCP. It was also found that the degree of crosslinking of XLPE/SXLPE blends were higher than that of XLPE in the case of the content without steam crosslinking process.

We studied about electrical, chemical and mechanical characteristics of XLPE by dicumyl peroxide(DCP) and trimethylolpropane triacrylate(TMPTA) content ratio. Blends of ethylene-propylene-diene terpolymer(EPDM) and high density polyethylene(HDPE) have been prepared in a roll mill by the process "dynamic curing" where both blending and a crosslinking reaction was carried out simultaneously. As a crosslinking agent, dicumyl peroxide(DCP) was used. Throughout the experimental ranges, the dynamically cured polyblends were shown to be thermoplastic elastomers except highly crosslinked blends of high compositions of EPDM. The increase of melt viscosity was observed as EPDM composition and DCP contents increased. From DSC determinations, the crystallinity decreased with increasing contents of DCP. The tensile strength and elongation at break generally increased with increasing DCP content and increasing HDPE compositions, but highly depended on the combined effects of decreasing crystallinity and increasing crosslinking density.
Following our previous work, we have conducted further systematic studies to investigate the effects of reactive blending on the thermal and mechanical properties of blends of poly(lactic acid) (PLA) and a liquid rubber, polybutadiene (LPB). The toughened PLAs were prepared by melt-blending the PLA with various contents (0-9 wt.%) of the LPB in the absence or presence of dicumyl peroxide (DCP), a radical initiator. It was found that the rubber domains were homogeneously dispersed at the nanoscale in the PLA matrix up to 9 wt.% of LPB thanks to the reactive blending in the presence of DCP. Owing to the compatibilization of PLA with LPB through reactive blending, the elongation and toughness of PLA was enhanced, while the hydrolytic degradation of PLA was reduced.

In this study, effects of both the grafted ABS-g-MAH and the added graphene oxide (GO) on the impact strength of polycarbonate (PC)/poly(acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene) (ABS) blends were discussed. The PC/ABS blends and PC/ABS/GO composites were fabricated by using twin screw extruder with ABS-g-MAH as a compatibilizer. The ABS-g-MAH was prepared by melting extrusion of ABS and maleic anhydride (MAH) with DCP (dicumyl peroxide) as an initiator using twin screw extruder and the synthesis of ABS-g-MAH was confirmed by the presence of carbonyl group (C=O) peak at $1780cm^{-1}$ of FT-IR spectrum. According to the thermal, rheological, and impact properties of PC/ABS blends, 5 phr (parts per hundred resin) of compatibilizer was chosen as an optimum content for the PC/ABS/GO composites. It was observed that the thermal decomposition of ABS/PC/GO composites increased with GO contents, but there was no significant changes or a decrease in the impact strength. Also the composite fabricated by ABS/GO showed small increase in the impact strength. From the result of the dynamic rheometer to observe the processing properties, the complex viscosities of PC/ABS blend including the compatibilizer increased, but the complex viscosities of composites added GO were not changed.
