First Record of the Genus Ochthera Latreille (Diptera: Ephydridae) in Korea

  • In this paper, two species of the shore fly belonging to the genus Ochthera Latreille are newly reported from Korea: Ochthera circularis Cresson and O. japonica Clausen. A key to Korean species and diagnoses are given. Photographs on external features and illustrations of male genitalic structures are also provided.

Taxonomic Revision of the Genera Pareulype Herbulot and Pelurga Hubner (Lepidoptera, Geometridae) in Korea

  • A geometrid genus Pareulype Herbulot sensu Inoue (1977) is reviewed in Korea. Up to now, two species, P. taczanowskiaria (Oberthur) and P. onoi Inoue, were known from Korea and these two species were newly combined into another genus Pelurga Hubner. One Pareulype species, P. consanguinea (Butler), is first recognized from Korea throughout the present study. Diagnoses of each genus and species are provided with illustrations of adults and genitalia. Phylogenetic relationship of Pareulype and Pelurga Hubner is briefly discussed.

  • In this paper, the implementation techniques of intelligent nuclear material surveillance system based on the SOM(Self Organized Mapping) was described. Unattended continuous surveillance systems for nuclear facility result in large amounts of data, which require much time and effort to inspect. Therefore, it is necessary to develop system that automatically pinpoints and diagnoses the anomalies from data. In this regards, this paper presents a novel concept of a continuous surveillance system that integrates visual image and radiation data by the use of neural networks based on self-organized feature mapping

  • We establish an expert system for the xylene oxidation reaction process of chemical plants using HAZOP(Hazard and Operability Studies). Our research focus Is only reduced to the cooling system of the total chemical plant due to lack of information. This expert system shows the priority of reasons for the system failure using confidence factor.

  • Since the first report on a successful method of correcting tricuspid atresia by Fontan and Baudet in 1971, several alternative surgical techniques have been described. Bjrk`s modification was performed three patients, 3, 8, and 9 years of age, in our Hanyang University Hospital. The diagnoses were tricuspid atresia type lb, tricuspid atresia type lib and d-TGA with huge VSD and valvular PS. None had previous palliative procedures. The patients were operated on with good results. The CVP after operation was 10-14 mmHg and early extubation was done. Postoperatively, none had peripheral edema or ascites. Postoperatively, all three were acyanotic and had improved physical capacity compared with their preoperative status.

  • The fault diagnosis is a systematic and unified method to find based on the observing data resulting in noises. This paper presents the fault prediction and diagnosis using fuzzy expert system technique to manipulate the uncertainties efficiently in predictive perspective. We apply a fuzzy event tree analysis to the computer system, and build up the fault prediction and diagnosis using fuzzy expert system that predicts and diagnoses the error of the system in the advance of error.

New Records of Orthocentrinae (Hymenoptera, Ichneumonidae) from South Korea

  • Two species, Plectiscus impurator Gravenhorst and Stenomacrus laticollis(Holmgren), of the subfamily Orthocentrinae are newly recognized from South Korea. This subfamily Orthocentrinae was represented in South Korea as 17 species belonging to four genera until now. In this paper, two additional species belonging to two genera are recorded for the first time from South Korea. Diagnoses of genera and two unrecorded species, illustrations of diagnostic characters are provided.

  • Two species, Zaglyptus multicolor(Gravenhorst) and Zaglyptus semirufus Momoi, are newly recognized from South Korea. Zaglyptus iwatai (Uchida) has only been reported from South Korea to date. Diagnoses of two unrecorded species, illustrations of diagnostic characters and a key to species of this genus are provided.

Three feather mites(Acari: Sarcoptiformes: Astigmata) isolated from Tringa glareola in South Korea

  • We describe three feather mites recovered from a wood sandpiper Tringa glareola that was stored in a $-20^{\circ}C$ freezer at the Chungnam Wild Animal Rescue Center. These feather mites are reported for the first time in South Korea: Avenzoaria totani (Canestrini, 1978), Ingrassia veligera Oudemans, 1904 and Montchadskiana glareolae Dabert and Ehrnsberger, 1999. In this study, we provide morphological diagnoses and illustrations. Additionally, we provide partial sequences of the mitochondrial cytochrome c oxidase subunit I(COI) gene as molecular characteristics of three species.

Fissidens (Fissidentaceae, Bryophyta) species newly recorded in Korea

  • Here, 15 taxa of genus Fissidens Hedw. are reported as new to the moss flora of Korea: F. bryoides var. esquirolii, F. closteri subsp. kiusiuensis, F. crispus, F. curvatus, F. enervis, F. flabellulus, F. ganguleei, F. gracilifolius, F. gymnandrus, F. incurvus, F. longisetus, F. pusillus, F. takayukii, F. viridulus, and F. wichurae. The list of Fissidens in Korea, consisting of 26 taxa previously, is updated to 38 taxa by adding 15 taxa and excluding three taxa. Descriptions, taxonomic notes with diagnoses, in situ and microscopic photographs of the unrecorded species, and taxonomic keys of four sections belonging to the subgen. Fissidens are provided.
