  • Multiple faults are hard to diagnose correctly because the operation of circuit breakers tripped by former fault changes the topology of power systems. The information including operating time of actuated relays and tripped circuit breakers is used for considering changes of the network topology in fault section diagnosis. This paper presents a method for fault section diagnosis using a set of matrices which represent changes of the network topology due to operation of circuit breakers. The proposed method uses fuzzy relation to cope with the unavoidable uncertainties imposed on fault section diagnosis of power systems. The inference executed by the proposed matrices provides the fault section candidates in the form of a matrix made up of the degree of membership. Experimental studies for real power systems reveal usefulness of the proposed technique to diagnose multiple faults.

  • A four-year old bitch which showed occasional hemomorragic exudate from the vulva for two weeks after the previous estrus 7 months ago was ovariohysterectomied. About 200m1 of sanguineous fluid was flowed out from the uterus and some scattered blood clots were found in both uterine horns. Hematometra of the bitch which was presumed to occur during the proestrus two weeks ago was thought to progress into early pyometra at the time of diagnosis. To diagnose hematometra, vaginal examination using vaginal speculum or vaginoscope and hematological examination were performed. Radiography and ultrasonography were also proved to be of use to diagnose hematometra. Treatment for hematometra was considered to be the same as for the case of pyometra.

  • Radiopharmaceuticals that can be consumed in specific disease site play a key role In order to diagnose and treat the diseases. In addition, radiopharmaceuticals can be used for diagnostic or therapeutic purposes depending on the type of the labeled radioactive isotope. Recently, theragnostic radiopharmaceuticals that can simultaneously diagnose and treat are developed. Therefore, the development of target-specific radiopharmaceuticals is a very important research topic in the field of molecular imaging and therapy. This review paper summarizes the basic considerations for the development of radiopharmaceuticals. For new researchers or students who are now beginning in the field of radiopharmaceuticals, we intend to assist in the development of radiopharmaceuticals by describing the definition of radiopharmaceuticals, the ideal radiopharmaceutical conditions, the considerations for developing new radiopharmaceuticals, the factors affecting the design of radiopharmaceuticals, the requirements of radioisotope labeling reactions, and finally the definition and importance of molar activity in radiopharmaceuticals.

  • This paper introduces an overall system design of a real-time monitoring system that monitors condition of urban railway AC/DC transformers, disconnecting switches, circuit breakers, regulators, and GIS (gas insulated switchgear). For effective diagnosis of urban railway facilities we developed optimized sensors and application technology. The proposed system is combined with wireless technology, implementing remote real-time monitoring of urban railway facilities. The derived real-time monitoring system for power facilities in urban railway substations will be applied not only to diagnose low voltage DC (direct current) railways but also to diagnose design of small power facilities of skyscrapers and apartments.

  • On-Board diagnostic systems are installed in passenger cars and light trucks on today. During the 1970's and early 1980's manufacturers started using electronic means to control engine functions and diagnose engine problems. This wa primarily to meet EPA emission standards. The CARB requires that, by model year 1996, all vehicle sold in California contain a certain minimum "On-Board Diagnostic" capability to diagnose emissions-related failures of the engine control system. These diagnostic requirements have been designated as OBD with a goal of monitoring all of the emissions-related components on-board the vehicle for proper operation. Part of the intent of CARB´s OBD program is that a single diagnostic tester can be used to read the diagnostic information from any OBD-compliant vehicle. A tester which ...

  • Chronic functional constipation is a common problem in childhood, with soiling a significant issue. It presents a management problem for pediatrician, and parental concern is high. About 5% of pediatric patients is known to have constipation and/or encopresis which is the second most referred disease in pediatric gastroenterology clinic, accounting for up to 25% of all visits. The etiology of constipation was based on initiation factors including vicious cycle concept, genetic factors, psychological factors, dietary influences and histologic abnormalities of colon. Emphasis is placed on the evaluation and management options that are available to the treating pediatrician. Careful history taking is most important to diagnose functional constipation. In addition, diagnostic tests such as plain abdominal radiograph, colonic transit study, anorectal manometry, barium enema were helpful to diagnose the constipation. Childhood constipation can be very delicate to treat. It often requires prolonged supports by physicians and parents, demystification, medical treatment and especially with the child and parent's cooperation.

  • Almost ship monitoring systems are event driven alarm system which warn only when the measurement value is over or under set point. These kinds of system cannot warn until signal is growing to abnormal state that the signal is over or under the set point. therefore cannot play a role for preventive maintenance system. This paper proposes fault diagnosis method which is able to diagnose and forecast the fault from present operating condition by analyzing monitored signals with present ship monitoring system without any additional sensors. By analyzing the data with high correlation coefficient(CC), correlation level of interactive data can be defined. Knowledge base of abnormal detection can be built by referring level of CC(Fault Detection CC. FDCC) to detect abnormal data among monitored data from monitoring system and knowledge base of diagnosis built by referring CC among interactive data for related machine each other to diagnose fault part.

  • As higher reliability and accuracy on production facilities are required to detect incipient faults, a diagnostic system for predictive maintenance of the facility is highly recommended. In this paper, it presents a study on the application of vibration signals to diagnose faults for a rotating machinery using the Mahalanobis distance-Taguchi system. RMS, crest factor and Kurtosis that is known as the statistical methods and the spectrum analysis are used to diagnose faults as parameters of Mahalanobis distance.

  • Modern chemical processes are becoming more complicated. The sophisticated chemical processes have needed the fault diagnosis pxpert systems that can detect and diagnose the fault diagnosis expert systems that can detect and diagnose the faults of some processes and give and advice to the operator in the event of process faults. We present the Time-Delay Neural Network(TDNN) approach for on-line fautl diagnosis. The on-line fault diagnosis system finds the exact origin of the fault of which the symptom is propagated continuously with time. The proposed method has been applied to a pilot distillation column to show the merits and applicability of the TDNN.

  • Regarding the implementation of ROMM project (Rehabilitation, Operation, Maintenance & Management), which is one of overseas development projects, it is very important to diagnose the exact current status of aged thermal power plant. However, when people visit the power plant for the purpose of prediagnosis to implement the ROMM project, most target power plants for diagnosis, in general, are under operation. This can be a big interference factor to diagnose the exact current status of power plants. Therefore, in order to solve such interference factor, based on the 30 years of know-how in the field, the present study has developed a regression curve for a simple life time assessment and the calculation of rehabilitation cost that may be used as a reference relatively for the quantitative diagnosis on the status of a relevant power plant even during the operation of the power plant.
