Balloon dilatation in a chow chow dog with Cor triatriatum dexter

  • A 3-year-old chow chow dog with abdominal distention was referred to the Veterinary Teaching Hospital of Chungnam National University. The dog was diagnosed as Cor triatriatum dexter based on echocardiographic results, which demonstrated an abnormal membrane partitioning the right atrium. Echocardiography also revealed turbulent intra-atrial blood flow between the two chambers of the atrium. The dog was treated with balloon dilatation to enlarge the perforation in the abnormal membrane and to improve blood flow. As a result, although the membrane remained, increased perforation reduced the turbulent intra-atrial blood flow. Clinically the patient improved and eventually was discharged. This case is the first domestic Korean clinical veterinary report on the use of balloon valvuloplasty to treat Cor triatriatum dexter in a dog.

  • A rare anomaly, Cor triatriatum dexter combined with pulmonary stenosis and patent foramen ovale in a 2-years- old female is presented. Abnormal embryologic development of the right sinus venosus valve caused partial membranous septation of the right atrium. Most cases have been recorded at necropsy either as an incidental finding or in association with severe congenital heart disease. In this case, Cor triatriatum dexter was diagnosed preoperatively by cineangiography and echocardiography.

한국재래산양(韓國在來山羊)의 문맥(門脈)에 관하여 (Distribution of Portal Vein within Liver of Korean Native Goat)

  • By means of vinylite-corrosion technique, the distribution of the portal vein within the liver in 50 Korean native goats was observed. The portal vein consists of the following principal branches; Truncus sinister vanae portae et dexter, Pars transversa trunci sinistri, Pars umbilicalis trunci sinistri, Ramus lateralis lobi sinistri, Ramus medialis lobi sinistri, Ramus medialis lobi dextri, Ramus lateralis lobi dextri, Ramus dorsolateralis, Ramus caudatorum. In the goat Pars transversa trunci dexter could not be recognized.

일과 중 근거리 작업에 따른 조절기능의 변화 (The Diurnal Change of Accommodative Functions by Near Work)

  • 목적: 38세 이상 50세 미만의 초기노안자 52명을 대상으로 1차시기(08:00~10:00), 2차시기(13:00~15:00), 3차시기(18:00~20:00)에 걸쳐 조절기능의 일일변화를 조사하였다. 방법: 초기노안자 52명(남 30명, 여 22명)을 근거리 작업량에 따라 4군(I군: ${\geq}$ 7 hrs~IV군: < 3 hrs)으로 분류하여 조절력, 조절용이성, 상대조절력을 검사하였다. 결과: 조절력은 하루 일과 중 근업이 가장 많은 I군에서 가장 낮은 것으로 측정되었고, 단안과 양안의 조절력은 I군~IV군 모두 2차시기의 조절력이 가장 높았다. 조절용이성에서 I군의 단안과 양안, II군의 단안 그리고 III군의 단안과 양안은 2차시기가 가장 높았고, II군의 양안과 IV군의 단안과 양안은 3차시기가 가장 높은 것으로 나타났다. 허성상대조절력은 I군~IV군 모두 1차시기가 가장 높았고, 실성상대조절력의 경우 I~III군은 2차시기가, IV군은 3차시기가 가장 높은 것으로 나타났다. 결론: 작업환경 및 시간은 조절기능에 영향을 줄 수 있으므로 초기노안자의 경우 하루 일과 중 업무 시간대를 고려하여 조절기능에 대한 검사를 하는 것이 안정피로 증상을 해소하는데 도움이 될 것이다.

Multi Quantum Well 구조를 이용한 Red에서 Green으로의 energy transfer mechanism의 이해

  • 처음 유기물의 인광 발견 이후 Host-dopant 시스템을 이용하여 Emission layer(EML)을 Co-deopsition 하는 방법으로 주로 인광 유기 발광 다이오드를 제작 하였다. [1] co-deposition을 이용해 만든 유기 발광 다이오드에 많은 장점이 있지만, 반대로 소자를 제작하는데 있어서는 많은 문제점을 가지고 있다. [2-4] 이러한 문제점을 개선하기 위하여 co-deposition 대신 non-doped Multi Quantum Well(MQW) 구조를 사용하여 doping 하지 않는 방법을 이용하는 논문들이 보고 되고 있다. Hole, electron, exciton이 MQW 구조를 지나면서, dopant well 안에 갇히게 되고, 그 안에서 다른 layer 간에 energy transfer와, hole-electron leakage가 줄어 들어, 더 효율적인 유기 발광 다이오드를 만들 수 있게 된다. [5-7] 이 연구에서는 CBP를 Potential Barrier로 사용하고, Ir(ppy)3 (Green dopant), Ir(btp)2 (Red dopant) 를 각각 Potential Well로 사용하였고, 두께는 CBP 9nm, dopant 1nm로 하였다. 이러한 소자를 만들고 dopant를 3개의 well에 적당히 배치하여, 각 well에서의 실험적인 발광 량 과, EML 안에서의 발광 mechanism 그리고 각 potential barrier를 줄여가며 dexter, forster에 의한 energy transfer에 대하여 알 수 있었다.

Ebstein anomaly, right-to-left atrial septal defect, and cor triatriatum dexter in a cat: a case report

  • A 6-month-old male Ragdoll cat presented with exercise intolerance. On physical examination, there was a grade 2/6 systolic murmur at the right apex. Diagnostic tests, including SpO2 measurement, blood tests, radiography, echocardiography, contrast echocardiography, and electrocardiography, were performed. Severe right atrial dilation, tricuspid valve leaflets and orifice displacement, right ventricular atrialization, septal leaflet adherence, anterior leaflet tethering, and right atrioventricular junction dilation were noted on echocardiography, alongside a right-to-left atrial septal defect. Cor triatriatum dexter and left ventricular aneurysm were observed. We diagnosed this case as having Ebstein anomaly with rare congenital heart deformities; which is rare in cats.

핏불테리어종 자견에서 폐동맥 협착과 난원공 개존증이 합병된우측 삼중심방증 (Cor Triatriatum Dexter Complicated with Pulmonic Stenosis and Patent Foramen Ovale in A Pitbull Terrier Puppy)

  • 2개월령 수컷 핏불테리어종 개 (체중 1.01 kg)가 심한 복부 팽만, 운동 불내성, 성장 지연, 노란 비루와 식욕부진을 주증으로 진료 의뢰 되었다. 영상 진단상에 비정상적인 막으로 분할된 확대된 우심방, 심한 수축기 폐동맥 제트 혈류 (최고혈류 5.66 m/s) 그리고 심방 중격에서의 우좌 단락혈류가 관찰되었다. 임상증상 및 진단학적 결과에 기초하여, 본 증례는 심한 폐동맥 협착과 우좌 단락의 난원공 개존증이 합병된 우측 삼중심방증으로 진단 되었다. 비안정적인 환자의 상태 때문에 수술적 혹은 중재적 치료는 시도되지 않았다. 그 개는 수혈, 산소공급 그리고 심장 관련 약물적 치료(예, 실데나필, 스피로노락톤, 에날라프릴)로 회복되었다.

한우간동맥(韓牛肝動脈)의 분지(分枝)에 관한 해부학적(解剖學的) 연구(硏究) (Anatomical studies on pattern of branches of hepatic arteries in Korean native cattle)

  • The distribution of the hepatic arteries within the liver in 30 Korean native cattle were observed. Vinylite solution was injected into the hepatic arteries of 10 livers for cast preparation. The angiography was prepared in 20 livers by injected 30% barium sulfate solution into the hepatic arteries and then radiographed on X-ray apparatus. The results were summarized as follow ; 1. The hepatic arteries were divided into the Ramus (R.) sinister, R. dexter and R. intermedius. The intrahepatic arteries were derived from the R. sinister and R. dexter. The R. intermedius divided into the Arteria(A.) gastrica dextra, A. gastroduodenalis and A. cystica. 2. The right branch (ramus dexter) of the hepatic artery supplies the right lobe and caudate process. It consisted of the A. dorsalis lobi dextri, A. ventralis lobi dextri and A. lobi caudati. They formed one common trunk with three arteries(6 cases, 20%), and two arteries formed common trunk with the A. ventralis lobi dextri and A. lobi caudati (16 cases, 52.8%), or with A. dorsalis lobi dextri and A. lobi caudati (5 cases, 16.5%). The three arteries arose from the A. hepatia independently(3 cases, 10%). 3. The left branch (ramus sinister), larger than the right and often double (6 cases, 20%), supplies the caudate, quadrate and left lobes, and often gives origin to the A. gastrica dextra. 4. The branches of hepatic artery in the left lobe were derived from A. dorsalis lobi sinistri, A. ventralis lobi sinistri and A. intermedius lobi sinistri. The A. intermedius lobi sinistri were absent in some cases (3 cases, 10%). They almostly originated a single branch and often two branches. 5. The A. cystica arose from the R. intermedius(27 cases, 90%) and A. hepaica(3 cases, 10%). 6. The Rami processus papillarum arose from dorsal border of the Pars transversa of the left branch(19 cases, 62.7%), the left branch and right branch (9 cases, 30%) or A. hepatica(2 cases, 6.6%). 7. The A. lobi quadrata arose from either the Pars transversa of left branch (12 cases, 40%) or A. hepatica(4 cases, 13.2%). It also arose from both Pars transversa of left branch and A. ventralis lobi sinistri (3 cases, 10%). 8. The anastomosis on the branches of A. hepatica was observed in intrahepatic and cystic arteries. The left and right branches ramified several secondary radiating branches within the liver. 9. The hepatic arteries formed a very short common trunk of the right branch ($18.75{\pm}11.89$ : 2.20~44.8mm) and a long Pars transversa of the left branch($72.85{\pm}20.04$ : 28.2~104.1mm). 10. The ramified angles at the A. dorsalis lobi dextri, A. ventralis lobi dextri, A. lobi sinistri, A. ventralis lobi sinistri, A. lobi quadrata, A. cystica and Rami processus papillarum were 50-80, 270-300, 340-20, 120-160, 160-290, 200-230, 250~290, 230~280 and 80~120 degrees, respectively.

한국재래산양(韓國在來山羊)의 간정맥(肝靜脈)에 관하여 (Distribution of Hepatic Vein within Liver of Korean Native Goat)

  • By employing the vinylite corrosion technique, the distribution of the hepatic vein within the liver in 50 Korean native goats was observed. 1. In 50 vinylite casts, the principal branches of hepatic vein are Vena hepatica sinistra, Vena hepatica sinistra et medialis, Vena heapati dextralateralis et medialis, Vena hepatica caudatorum, Vena hepatica dorsolateralits: three chief branches are Vena hepatica sinistra, Vena hepatica dextra, Vena hepatica caudatorum. 2. In the liver of Korean goat are recognized three lobes, i.e. Lobus sinister, Lobus dexter and Lobus caudate.

Diffusion Length Measurement of the Triplet Exciton in PHOLEDs by using Double Quantum Well Structure

  • PHOLED devices which have the structure of ITO/HAT-CN(5nm)/NPB(50nm)/EML(47nm)/TPBi(10nm)/Alq3(20nm)/LiF(0.8nm)/Al(100nm) are fabricated to investigate the diffusion length of the triplet exciton by using double-quantum-well(DQE) EML structure. To fabricate DQW structures, Ir(ppy)3(2% wt) and Ir(btp)2(8% wt) are used as green and red emission zones, respectively. In DQW structured EML, as shown in Fig. 1, 1nm thick layers of green and red emission zones are located middle of the EML, and the distance between these wells(x) is changed from 0nm to 10nm. As shown in Fig. 2, the emission spectra from DQW PHOLED devices are changed with different x. The intensity of the green emission(520nm) is decreased when x is decreased, and it goes to near zero when x=0nm. This behavior can be identified as the diffusion of the triplet excitons from Ir(ppy)3 to Ir(btp)2 by the Dexter energy transfer(DET). From the external quantum efficiency(EQE) of the red emission, as shown in Fig. 3, the diffusion length of the triplet excitons can be determined by the equation of DET rate, R=A Exp(-2RDA/L), where RDA is donor-acceptor distance and L is the sum of the van der Wals radii. As a result, the measured data of the red EQEs with different x are identified to theoretical result from the equation of DET rate(Fig. 4). From this results, we could confirm that the diffusion length of the triplet excitons can be determined by using DQW structure and this method is very useful to investigate the behavior of the excitons in PHOLEDs.
