Development of Control System Design Program Based on IEC1131-3 (IEC1131-3에 입각한 제어 시스템 설계 프로그램 개발)

  • IEC1131-3 Specification of Programming Controller is established in 1994 and consists of 3 graphical languages and 2 textual languages. It is used in PLC and small scale controller because of its uniformity and extensibility. This paper describes Soft Logic Designer which is a graphical and textual programming editor for IEC1131-3 programming languages. Soft Logic Designer is developed with Object Orient Language, C++ under Microsoft Windows 95. It has two graphic editors for Sequential Function Chart and Function Block Diagram and one textual editor for Structured Text. Users can efficiently write high-level programs with mouse and menu buttons.

  • Lots of researches and applications on the automated overhead cranes in shops have been done for some decades, but a few successful results are reported. Integrated crane control systems designed by famous engineering companies are still expensive and are not satisfactory in view of maintenance and reliability. A more reasonable control system fit to requirements of manufacturing industries is suggested in the study. The new deigned system has superior capabilities for anti-sway of rope and position control. The controller for automated operations is composed of a Linux-based PC for non real-time control and a high-speed PLC for hard real-time control. Some algorithms required for coil yard operations as well as main control algorithms such as reference position generation, position control and anti-sway control have been designed and fully tested on the new crane simulator. The designed crane control system showed satisfactory performance on position control accuracy and anti-sway of rope. The maximum positional error is 8mm and the maximum sway error is 0.1 degrees. The suggested control strategies have been successfully applied to the 10-1 crane in No. 4 CGL of in the Kwangyang Steel Works and in commercial operation.

Development of an Automatic Tool Compensation System in NC Lathe Machine (NC 선반가공에서 자동공구보정시스템의 개발)

  • Tool wear is one of major causes occurring defectives in NC machining. In this paper we developed an automatic tool compensation system for the NC lathe machining. The system compensates machining error without any help of operators whenever the specification of a part is out of a tolerance. The configuration of the automatic compensation system consists of a NC lathe, an autoloader, a sensor, and a PLC. The system is operated as follows. A workpiece loaded by the autoloader is machining on the NC lathe. Once the workpiece is machined to be turned to a part, it is moved onto the sensor to be measured. If the sensor detects a part out of tolerance, a tool compensation is made in the NC controller. The system gives a help in increasing the productivity by reducing occurrence of defective parts as well as by eliminating time for the tool compensation. Besides the productivity increase, the system calculates cumulative usage time of the tool and notices the tool replace time to a worker by an alarm signal. A case is introduced to show that the system can be applied effectively in a shop.

Development of Hardware for Controlling Abnormal Temperature in PCS of Photovoltaic System (태양광발전시스템의 PCS에서 이상 온도 제어를 위한 하드웨어개발)

  • This paper is purposed to develop hardware for controlling abnormal temperature that can occur environment and component itself in PCS. In order to be purpose, the hardware which is four part(sensing, PLC, monitoring and output) keep detecting temperature for critical components of PCS and can control the abnormal temperature. Apply to the hardware, it is selected to PV power generation facilities of 20 kW in Cheong-ju city and measured the data for one year in 2017. Through the temperature data, it is found critical components of four(discharge resistance, DC capacitor, IGBT, DSP board) and entered the setting value for operating the fan. The setting values for operating the fan are up to $130^{\circ}C$ in discharge resistance, $60^{\circ}C$ in DC capacitor, $55^{\circ}C$ in IGBT and DSP board. The hardware is installed at the same PCS(20 kW in Cheong-ju city) in 2018 and the power generation output is analyzed for the five days with the highest atmospheric temperature(Clear day) in July and August in 2017 and 2018 years. Therefore, the power generation output of the PV system with hardware increased up to 4 kWh.

  • The purpose of this paper is to build on automatic system for the shot ball transfer hoist. The shot ball is used to remove completely paint or leftovers before spreading the new paint on a large vessels surface. The shot ball is made of melted iron through cooling process, and it is transferred to hopper by electromagnet of hoist. Currently, the transfer process of the shot ball is performed by manual operation, and the transfer process is inefficient. So we have developed an automatic system to replace the manual system. The developed automation systems have efficient and accurate position control performance.

  • Recently, the automotive industry has been developing rapidly. With the progress parts of the automobile components need high quality and the reliability. Among them, braking unit is essential device, and acquire the reliability through the performance test of brake. This study was aimed to design the performance-test-bench to measure the drag torque which has effect on caliper in braking unit. In this progressive technology, it is vital importance to use hydraulic and pneumatic, and to combine test bench with instrumentation engineering technology. This system to construct the design of hydraulic and pneumatic circuit, interface technique between sensors and personal computer, data acquisition and display design, and integrated control are very important technology. Moreover, reliable data are obtained through vacuum system and hydraulic and pneumatic system by using of booster and brake master cylinder which are actually applied to automobile. Then, data signal detector sensors for speed, pressure and torque is attached on this system. Therefore, in this study, we designed a performance-test-bench by and we also made an total control system using personal computer which is more progressive and flexible method than existing PLC control.

  • This paper describes the design of a force measurement and communication system for the force measuring system in industrial robots. The force measurement and communication system is composed of a multi-axis force sensor and a controller for measuring the forces (x-direction force, y-direction force and z-direction force) and sending the measured forces to the robot's controller (PLC: Programmable Logic Controller). In this paper, the force measurement and communication system was designed and fabricated by using a DSP (Digital Signal Processor). An environment test and a grinding and deburring test using an industrial robot with the force measurement and communication system with three-axis force sensor were carried out to characterize the system. The tests showed that the system could safely measure the forces from the three-axis force sensor and send the measured forces to the industrial robot's controller while the grinding and deburring test was performed. Thus, it is thought that the fabricated force measurement and communication system could be used for controlling the force for an industrial robot's grinding and deburring.

  • In crane drives, DC motor has been most widely used due to simple control characteristic and favorable transient behavior. Nowadays, however, the squirrel cage induction motor is known as an attractive candidate due to elimination of all sliding electrical contacts, resulting in an exceedingly simple and rugged construction. Especially, in hoist application, the smooth torque control and four quadrant operation are essential. In this paper, an operation of dual inverters with common DC bus fed by vector controlled induction motor is described. Single DSP is employed as a main processor to control dual inverters and communicates each input/output signal with PLC. As well as giving a detailed expression, full simulation and experimental results are presented.

  • Time synchronization problems is very important in everyday life and a variety of industries, In this paper, we developed PLB(Power Line Broadcasting) system which broadcast time information to each device through power line modems. In our system, the smartphone synchronized to GPS time is used as a time source and we propose, develop and evaluate a relay system to solve the difficulties of long-distance transmission of power line modem technology.

  • 본 연구는 발포수지 공정에 사용되는 가스벤트를 신발중창 금형에 자동으로 교환하는 장치에 관한 것이다. 가스벤트는 폴리우레탄과 같은 소재를 이용한 신발 미드솔 발포시 발생되는 가스를 제거하기 위한 다공질 소자로서 신발금형 상부에 삽입된다. 가스벤트는 소모성 부품으로 일정주기마다 교환이 필요하나 작업공정상 수작업에 어려움이 많아 자동화된 교환시스템이 요구된다. 하지만 삽입되는 신발중창 금형과 가스벤트간은 유격이 거의 없으므로 본 연구에서는 신발 중창 금형의 손상을 방지하고 보다 신속한 교환을 위해 가스벤트 삽입 및 추출 홈의 위치정보를 영상을 통해서 구하고, 얻어진 영상에 대한 위치 데이터를 기계적 위치 추적 시스템의 데이터로 피드백 하여 홀의 중심 위치에서 가스벤트를 삽입 및 추출하여 자동으로 교환하는 장치를 구현하였다. 영상 처리는 패턴 매칭 기법을 이용하여 홀의 중심점을 구하였고, 이를 PLC로 전송하여 기계 작동 제어 및 XY플로터를 정밀 제어하여 공정이 진행되게 하였다.
