원전 콘크리트 구조물의 장기내구성능 평가 (Long-Term Performance of Safety Related Concrete Structures in Nuclear Power Plants)

  • Almost 30 years have been passed since the first nuclear power plant was operated in Korea. Many studies have been actively conducted from the early 1990's in order to develop the deterioration management system for concrete structures in NPPs(Nuclear Power Plants) accordingly. Base on these studies, a systematic deterioration management program has developed and operated since 1997. According to this program, systematic inspections to provide database and evaluation were periodically performed (every overhaul at intervals of $12{\sim}18$ month and every five years). Accumulated deterioration database was usefully utilized for the NPP PSR (Periodic Safety Review). In this paper, the long-term durability and integrity of Kori 1,2 NPP concrete structures which are the oldest ones in Korea were evaluated based on the precise inspection database and regulatory inspection results including compressive strength, depth of carbonation, amount of chlorination and spontaneous potential of reinforcing bar, etc. It was noted that Kori 1,2 NPP structures have not any serious durability problems.

Carbonation depth estimation in reinforced concrete structures using revised empirical model and oxygen permeability index

  • Corrosion of rebar is one of the major deteriorating mechanisms that affect the durability of reinforced concrete (RC) structures. The increase in CO2 concentration in the atmosphere leads to early carbonation and deterioration due to corrosion in RC structures. In the present study, an attempt has been made to modify the existing carbonation depth prediction empirical model. The modified empirical model is verified from the carbonation data collected from selected RC structures of CSIR-SERC campus, Chennai and carbonation data available from the reported literature on in-situ RC structures. Attempt also made to study the carbonation depth in the laboratory specimens using oxygen permeability index (OPI) test. The carbonation depth measured from RC structures and laboratory specimens are compared with estimated carbonation depth obtained from OPI test data. The modified empirical model shows good correlation with measured carbonation depth from the identified RC structures and the reported RC structures from the literature. The carbonation depth estimated from OPI values for both in-situ and laboratory specimens show lesser percentage of error compared to measured carbonation depth. From the present investigation it can be said that the OPI test is the suitable test method for both new and existing RC structures and laboratory RC specimens.

Physical characteristics and evaluation of deteriorations class of a trail in Deogyusan National Park

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the deterioration of trail conditions and to obtain information for desirable maintenance and restoration of a trail in Deogyusan National Park. The physical characteristics of a trail were surveyed at a total of 412 sites over 79.8 km length. The average trail degree and width were found to be 14.31° and 1.60 m, respectively, while the average bare trail width was 1.40 m and the average maxim trail depth was 5.66 cm. Major deterioration types of trail were trail deepening (36.6%), rock exposure (33.9%), and root exposure (12.5%) in order of frequency. Deterioration classes of the trail were 0.626 km (0.8%), 3.110 km (3.9%) and 8.935 km (11.2%) for heavily, moderately, and lightly deteriorated, respectively, with a deterioration rate of 12.671 km (15.9%). Compared to other national parks, the ratio damaged trail to the total trail was 15.9%, which is slightly higher than other, including Jirisan National Park 9.6% (2019), Bukhansan National Park 13.6% (2019), Sokrisan National Park 11.7% (2019), Chiaksan National Park 12.3% (2015), and Woraksan National Park 10.5% (2015). The section of trail in Deokyusan National Park where the damage grade is analyzed as "Heavy" should therefore be restored in consideration of the field conditions. In particular, the damage status of the trail is expected to be greatly improved when the trail surface maintenance level is restored.

콘크리트 균열측정에 대한 비파괴시험의 적용 (The Application of Non-destructive Method in Measuring of Concrete Crack)

  • The ultrasonic pulse measurements can be used to detect the development of cracks in concrete structures and to check deterioration due to frost or chemical action. An estimate of the depth of a visible crack at the surface can be obtained by measuring the transit times that across the crack for two different arrangements of the transducers placed on the surface. In this paper, the concrete cracks that artificially introduced crack of width 1, 2mm and depth 20, 40, 60, 80mm were measured by Tc-To, Direct and Indirect Method. The test results indicate that the Tc-To Method is the most useful in measuring crack of concrete structures. And the crack depth calculated by the Direct and Indirect Method is shown bigger than artificially introduced real crack depth.

  • The most common deteriorating processes of concrete structures in the world-wide are carbonation and chloride ion. In this paper, chloride profiles of carbonated concrete is predicted to considering two layer composite model, which is based on Fick's 2nd law. From the experimental result on combined deterioration of chloride and carbonation, it was examined that high chloride concentration was built up to 3-5㎜ over depth from carbonation depth. The analytical modeling of chloride diffusion, which was based on the Fick's 2nd law of diffusion, was suggested to depict the relative influence of the carbonation depth.

Service Life Prediction of Concrete Structures Exposed to a Sulfuric Acid Environment

  • In this study, it was investigated the resistance of OPC, 60% GGBS, 20% PFA and 10% SF mortar specimens against sulfuric acid corrosion. As an index for degree of acid corrosion, the corrosion depth was evaluated. Then, it was found that an increase in the duration of immersion and a decrease in the pH, as expected, resulted in a more severe corrosion irrespective of binders; 60% GGBS mortar specimen was the most resistant to sulfuric acid corrosion. From the laboratory testing of sulfuric acid corrosion, an empirical prediction model was suggested as a power function of time and the pH of sulfuric acid, and was applied to an assessment of concrete structures exposed to an acidic environment. It was found that the empirical model gave a more precise prediction of sulfuric acid deterioration of concrete rather than a conventional model, mostly used for predicting carbonation of concrete.

A performance-based design method for chloride-induced cover cracking of RC structures

  • Chloride-induced cover cracking will aggravate the performance deterioration for RC structures under the chlorideladen environment, which may endanger the safety of structures and occupants. Traditional design method cannot ensure that a definite performance is satisfied. To overcome the defects, a study on the performance-based design method was carried out in this paper. Firstly, the limit state functions were established for the corrosion initiation and cover cracking. Thereafter, the uncertainty analysis was performed to study the effects of random factors on the time-dependent performances. Partial factor formulae were deduced through the first-order reliability method for performance verification. Finally, an illustrative example was presented and the sensitivity of cover depth to other parameters was carried out. It is found that the uncertainties of the random variables have great effects on the required cover depth. It is demonstrated that the performance-based design method can ensure that the target performance can be satisfied and support to formulate a rational maintenance and repair strategy for RC structures under the chloride environment.

서울시내 위치한 콘크리트 고가차도의 내구성능 조사 및 평가 (Investigation and Evaluation on Performance of Durability for Freeway Concrete Viaducts in Seoul Metropolitan Area)

  • 본 연구는 서울시내 위치한 39개 콘크리트 고가차도의 중성화 깊이, 가용성 염화물량 및 철근의 자연전위 등을 측정하여 열화의 원인을 분석하기 위한 기초자료를 얻고자 하였다. 전체 조사대상 구조물 가운데 철근위치까지 중성화 깊이가 진행된 구조물은 약 25%에 해당되었으며 중성화 속도는 물-시멘트비 60%, R=1의 조건인 kishitani의 제안식 3.727 $\sqrt{t}$ 보다 5%가 빠른 3.92 $\sqrt{t}$로 나타났다. 콘크리트의 염화물량의 조사결과에서는 전체 측정부위의 24%가 임계염화물량을 초과하였으며 철근의 자연전위는 -350mV(vs. CSE)이하로 측정된 것이 약 31%에 해당되는 구조물로서 과다한 염화물량이 철근부식의 주요 원인이 되는 것으로 조사되었다. 자연전위 -350mV 이하인 구조물에 한한 철근부식의 주요요인을 추정한 결과, 약 60%에 해당하는 부위가 치대 허용염화물량을 초과하였기 때문으로 분석된다.

최소토피고 미확보 구간에 시공한 파형강판 암거의 변형 특성 (Deformation of Corrugated Steel Plate Culverts in the Areas with Minimum Depth)

  • 본 논문에서는 고속도로 하부의 최소토피고 1.5 m 미확보구간에 시공한 파형강판 암거의 변형 특성에 관한 내용을 다루고 있다. 대부분 저토피구간에서의 파형강판 암거는 변형을 최소화하기 위하여 설계기준에서 제시된 최소토피고에 준하여 설계 및 시공하게 되어있다. 또한 시공 여건이 여유치 못할 경우 응력이완슬라브를 설치하여 파형강판으로 전달되는 하중을 분산 및 최소화 시키고 있다. 그러나 부득이 최소토피고를 확보하지 못한 구간에서 파형강판 암거 시공을 할 경우 일부 변형이 발생할 수 있다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 최소토피고 미확보 구간에서의 변형 특성에 대해 조사를 실시하였고 조사 결과 실제 응력이완슬라브 모서리 부분의 포장 및 평탄성 불량 문제 등이 발생하고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 이에 최소토피고 미확보 구간에 설치된 파형강판 암거의 구조적 안정성에 대한 검토와 포장파손의 원인 및 대책방안을 연구하였다.

우리나라 정맥의 마루금 등산로 훼손에 관한 연구 -금남, 금북, 낙남, 한남금북정맥을 대상으로 - (A Study on Deterioration of Ridge Trail in Jeongmaek)

  • 본 연구는 우리나라 정맥의 마루금 등산로 훼손실태를 파악하고 관리방안을 수립하고자 수행되었다. 등산로의 훼손정도를 파악하기 위하여 물리적 인자 12가지를 조사하고 조사자가 등산로의 건전여부를 정성적으로 평가하였다. 그 결과 한남금북정맥 마루금 등산로의 훼손 정도는 평균노폭이 78cm, 최대침식깊이의 평균값은 6.4cm, 평균경사는 20.8%였으며, 금북정맥 마루금 등산로의 훼손 정도는 평균노폭이 73cm, 최대침식깊이의 평균값은 7.3cm, 평균경사는 20.0%로 나타났다. 낙남정맥 마루금 등산로의 훼손 정도는 평균노폭이 73cm, 최대침식깊이의 평균값은 6.7cm, 평균경사는 17.7%이며, 금남정맥 마루금 등산로의 훼손정도는 79cm, 최대침식깊이의 평균값은 6.7cm, 평균경사는 19.7%로 비교적 양호한 편이었다. 위와 같은 결과를 백두대간 및 국립공원의 훼손 실태와 비교하여 볼 때, 정맥의 훼손은 양호한 편이라고 할 수 있다. 그러나 일부 도심권을 통과하는 지역과 관광지 주변의 등산로는 훼손이 심화된 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 따라서 향후 이용객의 증가가 예상되는 지역에 대해서는 보다 자세한 모니터링과 적극적인 관리가 요망된다.
