Mixed Weighted Filter for Removing Gaussian and Impulse Noise

  • The image signal is often affected by the existence of noise, noise can occur during image capture, transmission or processing phases. noises caused the degradation phenomenon and demage the original signal information. Many studies are being accomplished to restore those signals which corrupted by mixed noise. In this paper, we proposed mixed weighted filter for removing Gaussian and impulse noise. we first charge the noise type, then, Gaussian is removed by a weighted mean filter and impulse noise is removed by self-adaptive weighted median filter that can not only remove mixed noise but also preserve the details. And through the simulation, we compared with the conventional algorithms and indicated that proposed method significant improvement over many other existing algorithms and can preserve image details efficiently.

Cyclic load testing and numerical modeling of concrete columns with substandard seismic details

  • Recent earthquakes have shown that many of existing buildings in Iran sustain heavy damage due to defective seismic details. To assess vulnerability of one common type of buildings, which consists of low rise framed concrete structures, three defective and three standard columns have been tested under reversed cyclic load. The substandard specimens suffered in average 37% loss of strength and 45% loss of energy dissipation capacity relative to standard specimens, and this was mainly due to less lateral and longitudinal reinforcement and insufficient sectional dimensions. A relationship has been developed to introduce variation of plastic length under increasing displacement amplitude. At ultimate state, the length of plastic hinge is almost equal to full depth of section. Using calibrated hysteresis models, the response of different specimens under two earthquakes has been analyzed. The analysis indicated that the ratio between displacement demand and capacity of standard specimens is about unity and that of deficient ones is about 1.7.

  • Despite its great success in the field of proteomics, mass spectrometry has limited use for determining structural details of peptides, proteins, and their assemblies. Emerging ion mobility spectrometry-mass spectrometry has enabled us to explore the conformational space of protein ions in the gas phase, and further combinations with the gas-phase ion spectroscopy and the collision-induced unfolding have extended its abilities to elucidating the secondary structure and local details of conformational transitions. This review will provide a brief introduction to the combined approaches of IMS-MS with gas-phase ion infrared spectroscopy or collision-induced unfolding and their most recent results that successfully revealed higher-order structural details.

  • Recently, interest in OSC(Off Site Construction) is increasing due to the trend of a decrease in skilled workers and an increase in labor costs. In this regard, PC(Precast Concrete) is being reviewed for apartments, the most common type of housing in Korea. As the biggest concern for PC apartment houses, civil complaints such as inter-floor noise and leakage were presented. In this study, the details of the joints were reviewed based on the past cases of PC apartments, and the details of the recently constructed or planned PC apartments were investigated. Through this, the leakage path in the past was analyzed through the existing research literature and data, and a discussion was conducted on the direction for a detailed proposal of an improved joint in the future.

  • 우리나라의 지진위험도는 중 .약진 지역으로 분류될 수 있으며, 최근 자주 발생하지는 않지만 큰 지진(예를들면 판내부 지진)에 대하여 구조물이 저항성능을 가져야 한다는 것을 고려한다면 벽체의 성능평가는 중요하다고 할 수 있다. 본 논문의 내용은 내력벽 시스템 아파트 건물의 벽체에 대한 반응수정계수의 평가에 관한 것이다. 이를 위하여 반응수정계수에 관련한 기존 연구를 조사하여 반응수정계수의 구성요소를 분석하였다. 또한, 국내 내진기준에서 반응수정계수, 동적계수 산정의 문제점을 ATC와 UBC 기준들의 밑면전단력의 크기와 비교하여 나타내었다. 그리고, 아파트 벽체 및 전단벽에 대한 기존의 국내 .외 실험연구를 활용하여 그 구조성능을 평가하였으며, 이러한 연구내용의 결과를 기초로 허용응력도 설계용 지진하중을 규정하는 국내 내진규정의 내력벽 시스템에 대한 반응수정계수를 제안한다.

사각 연속횡보강 선조립철근으로 단부횡보강된 RC 구조벽체의 모멘트-곡률 관계 (Moment-Curvature Relationship of RC Structural Walls with Confined Boundary Elements Using Pre-Fabricated Rectangular Continuous Hoops)

  • 현 설계기준에서 제시한 단부횡보강 상세는 시공성과 생산품질이 현저히 떨어지므로 내진성능과 시공성을 확보할 수 있는 RC 구조벽체의 단부횡보강 상세 개발이 필요하다. 최근 선재 제작기술의 발전으로 다양한 선조립철근의 제작이 가능해지고 있으며 특히 다양한 연속횡보강 철근 상세의 제작이 가능하게 되었다. 본 연구에서는 사각 연속횡보강 선조립철근 단부횡보강 상세를 적용한 RC 구조벽체의 모멘트-곡률 관계에 대한 분석을 진행하였다. 비선형 단면해석에 의하면 사각 연속횡보강의 상세를 적용한 RC 구조벽체는 사각 연속횡보강 영역의 면적이 증가할수록 내진성능을 확보할 수 있다. 이러한 연구결과에 근거하여 사각 연속횡보강 선조립 철근의 상세 적용시, 단부횡보강 영역의 면적만큼 사각 연속횡보강 영역의 면적을 확보해야 한다.

  • This study was conducted to investigate the seismic behavior assessment of circular reinforcement concrete bridge piers particularly with regard to assessing the displacement ductility curvature ductility response modification factor(R) and plastic hinge region etc, The experimental variables of bridge piers test consisted of transverse steel details amount and spacing different axial load levels etc. The test results indicated that reinforcement concrete bridge piers with confinement steel by the code specification exhibited suffcient ductile behavior and seismic performance. Also it is found that current seismic design code specification of confinement steel requirements may be revised.

  • Hybrid building structure, which comprise both the residential and commercial spaces in a building, are composed of upper shear-walls and lower frames. In these hybrid structures, the structural analysis and design of transfer systems which link upper-wall and lower-frame are crucial. The available structural design methods for the transfer girder are performed by taking a prototype structure, and the details of transfer girder based on these design methods are presented and compared with regard to the dimensions and amount of reinforcements.

  • 2009년 개정된 KBC 2009는 기존의 KBC 2005를 개정한 것으로, 특수모멘트 골조의 도입 등 새로운 내진배근상세 등이 도입되었지만, 이에 대한 검토 및 배근상세가 부족한 것으로 판단된다. 이에 본 연구에서는 KBC 2009 및 2005기준의 내진상세를 표와 그림으로 비교하여, 실무 적용시 발생될 수 있는 문제점을 개선하였다.

Understanding Explosive Stellar Events Using Rare Isotope Beams

  • Nuclear reactions in explosive stars such as novae, X-ray bursts, and supernovae are responsible for producing many of the elements that make up our world. Exotic nuclei not normally found on earth can play an important role in these events due to the extreme conditions that occur in the explosion. A frontier area of research involves utilizing beams of radioactive nuclei to improve our understanding of these explosions and the implications on cosmic element production. At the future radioactive ion beam facility of Korea, RAON, we will measure astrophysically important reactions using exotic beams to probe the details of cosmic events. Details of RAON and possible day-1 experiments at the facility will be presented.
