  • In this study, dynamic modulus of elasticity of self-consolidating rubberized concrete is evaluated by using results of ultrasonic pulse velocity and resonance frequency tests. Additionally, correlation between dynamic modulus of elasticity and compressive strength results is compared. For evaluating the dynamic modulus of elasticity of self-consolidating rubberized concrete, prismatic specimens having $100{\times}100{\times}500$ mm dimensions are prepared. Dynamic modulus of elasticity values obtained by non-destructive measurements techniques are well agreed with those given in the literature.

  • This paper deals with the development and application of an inner corrosion detector for the ACSR(Aluminum Conductor Steel Reinforced) power lines. The detector runs on an ACSR power line and inspects the inner corrosion of the conductor using the technology of the nondestructive eddy current test. It is consists of an ECT sensor, signal processing units, a RF transmitter/receiver, and etc.. The experimental result through field tests shows the detector can efficiently find both the zinc and aluminum loss of ACSR power lines.

  • The remaining life estimation for the aged components in power plants as well as chemical plants are very important beacuse mechanical properties of the components are degraded with time of service exposure in high temperature. Since it is difficult to take specimens from the operating components to evaluate mechanical properties of components, nondestructive techniques are needed to estimate the degradation. In this study, test materials with 4 different degradation levels were prepared by isothermal aging heat treatment at $630^{\circ}C$. And the DC potential drop method and destructive methods such as tensile, $K_{IC}$ and hardness tests were used in order to evaluate the degradation of 1Cr-1Mo-0.25V steels. The objective of this study is to investigate the possibility of the application of DCPD method to estimate the material degradation, and to analyse the relationship between the electrical resistivity and the degree of material degradation.

  • The presence of voids under pavements or behind tunnel linings results in their deterioration. To detect these voids effectively by non-destructive tests, a method using radar was proposed. In this research, not only the detection of shape of voids, but also the location of reinforcing bars by radar image analysis is investigated. The experiments and image processing were conducted to detect voids and to locate reinforcing bars in or under concrete pavements (or tunnel linings) with reinforcing bars. From the results, the fundamental algorithm for tracing the reinforcing bars and voids, improving the horizontal resolution of the object image and detecting shape of objects, was verified.

  • This report is devoted to the problems of Mongolian Railway Transportation Safety such as high length of wagon service life, defects due to the more factors of exploitation, idle time, increase of faults, poor condition of repairing shops and more hand and mechanical operations and these conditions are quite difficult to meet the safety and reliability of increasing transportation from day to day. The paper discusses that the most optimum solution is diagnosing before occurring wear, breakdown, and defects on the basis of studying characteristics of structural material breakdown, residual methods of voltage, effects of material hardness and linear defects of a crystal net and the reform of machines is very important to implement it. It focuses the structures, characteristics of the material transportation and tests and analyses of the wagon cart which has to meet the traffic safety of wagons and slow and soft movement. The study is done on the wagon chassis which has to meet the traffic safety of luggage wagons.

  • For evaluating the radiation degradation of cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE) cable insulation due to the irradiated oxidation, XLPE was irradiated with ${\gamma}$-ray. For each irradiated samples, TGA, DSC, FT-IR, and tensile tests were carried out. Regarding radiation degradation, oxidative process was predominant. TGA, DSC and FT-IR can be useful tools for evaluating the radiation degradation due to the irradiated oxidation because these analyses need only small amount of samples. The results of TGA, DSC and FTIR analyses showed the similar tendency for irradiated degradation. They can be useful tools for evaluating the oxidation of insulating material by non-destructive testing.

  • This paper presents a non-destructive testing method for estimating the structural response of cable-stayed footbridges. The approach combines field measurements with a numerical static analysis of the structure. When the experimental information concerning the structure deformations is coupled with the numerical data on the structural response, it is possible to calculate the static forces and the design tension resistance in selected structural elements, and as a result, assess the condition of the entire structure. The paper discusses the method assumptions and provides an example of the use of the procedure to assess the load-carrying capacity of a real steel footbridge. The proposed method can be employed to assess cable-stayed structures including those made of other materials, e.g., concrete, timber or composites.

  • In this paper, we dealt with a partial discharge(PD) measurement system that has been accepted as an effective and non-destructive technique for estimating reliabilities of low-voltage electrical and electronic components. Calibration tests on laboratory set-up have shown that the PD measurement system has a stable sensitivity of 37.6 mv/pC. In an application test on photo coupler, we could detect 0.1 pC level of partial discharge at the applied voltage of AC 520 $V_{peak}$.

It is suitable for on line processing because of transmitting and receiving ultrasonic without contact ODCs(orientation distribution coefficients), W $_{400}$. W $_{420}$. W $_{440}$. were respectively calculated using zeroth order Lamb wave velocities, the calculated ODCs was used for evaluating plastic anisotropy, the results was compared for mean values of destructive tests. Besides, the Lorentz EMAT for generating longitudinal wave and two shear waves simultaneously and the Lorentz type EMAT for measuring SH wave velocities were made. ODCs were calculated using the measured resonant modes and velocities. the results of two methods show possibility of an line processing measurement.

  • The emerging sensor-based structural health monitoring (SHM) technology has a potential for cost-effective maintenance of aging civil infrastructure systems. The author proposes to integrate continuous and global monitoring using on-structure sensors with targeted local non-destructive evaluation (NDE). Significant technical challenges arise, however, from the lack of cost-effective sensors for monitoring spatially large structures, as well as reliable methods for interpreting sensor data into structural health conditions. This paper reviews recent efforts and advances made in addressing these challenges, with example sensor hardware and health monitoring software developed in the author's research center. The hardware includes a novel fiber optic accelerometer, a vision-based displacement sensor, a distributed strain sensor, and a microwave imaging NDE device. The health monitoring software includes a number of system identification methods such as the neural networks, extended Kalman filter, and nonlinear damping identificaiton based on structural dynamic response measurement. These methods have been experimentally validated through seismic shaking table tests of a realistic bridge model and tested in a number of instrumented bridges and buildings.
