Previous antenna design formula produce some errumenous resulitat the high frequency(above x-band.) This is because of the dispersion effect. Surface wave and higher order modes We propose exact design formula which gives errors less then 0.5% at the above x-band Exper imental investigations also prove the exactness of the proposed formual Further investigations should be done to give the relations between surface wave poles higer mides and resonant frequency.

We propose rectangular type spiral coils with folded comers for the applications to low frequency guided wave magnetostrictive transducers and describe a method for making the proposed coils from insulated electrical wire such as enameled copper wire. Expressions for the electrical properties of the coils are also presented and compared with experimental measurements. An overlapped-2-channel folded-comer spiral-coil array is fabricated and applied to a magnetostrictive strip transducer generating and detecting fundamental torsional mode guided waves. From the results we conclude that the design and fabrication method make it possible to use the magnetostrictive transducers optimized for various guided wave applications and also will greatly help engineers gain easy access to the optimized transducers.

Special purpose vessels such as drillship and ocean research vessels install the DPS(Dynamic Positioning System) to maintain the position and heading for long-time operation. This paper deals with the design parameters for the control theory and filter algorithms of DP system. for the environmental loadings wind forces, current forces and wave forces were considered. In order to estimate the low frequency motions without first-order wave motion, the Kalman filter was used and it was assumed that the first-order wave forces correspond to system noises and first-order wave motions are measurement noises. In this simulation, the length of research vessel is 65 meters and it has four thrusters to maintain the position. The ability of keeping position and heading was confirmed. For the calculation of thruster input the LQR and LOI control theory were adopted and the effects of gain were investigated.

A wide-band design method of double layered electromagnetic wave absorbers cross-slotted in the second layer(which has very wide band frequency characteristics) is proposed and discussed. The wide-band electromagnetic wave absorber can be designed under some approximations by the the- oretical model using the equivalent material constants method applied to the second layer. Based on the developed model, wide-band electromagnetic wave absorbers with excellent reflectivity characteristics in the frequency range of 30MHz to 3, 170MHz were designed.
This paper deals with the added resistance of a ship in waves using computational fluid dynamics (CFD). The ship added resistance is one of the key considerations in the design of energy-efficient ship. In this study, the added resistance of a LNG carrier in head waves is computed using a CFD code to consider the nonlinearity and the viscous effects. The unsteady Reynolds Averaged Navier-Stokes equation (RANS) is numerically solved and the volume of fluid (VOF) approach is used to simulate the free surface flows. The length of incident wave varies from half the ship length to twice the ship length. To investigate the nonlinearity effect, both the linear wave condition and the nonlinear wave condition are considered. The heave and pitch motions are calculated along with the added resistance, and the wave contours are obtained. Grid convergence test is conducted thoroughly to achieve the converged motion and resistance values. The calculated results are compared and validated with experimental data.

Design procedure of corrugated horn antenna for mm-wave frequency range is presented, and hybrid condition in horn is calculated. Balanced hybrid mode should be converted in the horn from TE11 mode by the proper corrugation dimensions which size are available to be fabricated under the mm-wave short wavelength condition. In this paper, corrugate profiles which satisfy both hybrid condition and fabrication possibility are obtained.. By cylindrical mode theory, the electromagnetic fields both inside hem and corrugation are delivered. Propagation characteristics in hem is calculated by the mode impedance matching method with boundary conditions, and radiation fields are obtained by the Kirchhoff-Hyugen principle to the hem aperture fields. A mm-wave corrugated horn operates on 85 - 115GHz is designed and fabricated, and results of measurement are also shown.

This paper designed the horn of half-wave needed for Ultrasonic meta) welding. The horn has to be designed and manufactured accurately, because measurements such as the shape, length, mass and etc. have effects on the resonant frequency and the vibration mode. Designed horn of half-wave has the feature of 40,000Hz of nature frequency, and maximizes vibration range in the Tip by resonance in the frequency of ultrasonic wave machine. In this study, we calculated and analyzed the natural frequency to find the optimal design of the horn that amplified the amplitude about double by the modal analysis and harmonic analysis using ANSYS. And we did FFT analysis of the manufactured horn.
There are many difficulties to supply constant power to marine facilities which operate in the sea. Especially, there is a limit to stand alone power supply systems due to the influence of weather conditions. That's why a hybrid power supply system is required to overcome these problems. This paper will describe an Electronic Anti-Fouling System (EAFS) to maximise the power efficiency for a solar - wave hybrid power generation system. A main factor reducing the efficiency of a Wave Energy Converter (WEC) is due to the attachment of aquatic life forms. Therefore the aim of this research is to develop a simulation programme to enable the design of more efficient EAFS for hybrid power generation systems and to provide valuable data for production of more efficient EAFS.
In this study an improved design method for the traditional A-type(or V-type) offshore template platform system was proposed to mitigate the vibration induced by the marine environmental loadings and the strong ground motions of earthquakes. A newly developed material model was combined into the structural system and then a nonlinear dynamic analysis in the time domain was carried out. The analysis was focused on the displacement and rotation induced by the input wave forces and ground motions, and the mitigation effect for these responses was evaluated when the viscoelastic damping devices were applied. The wave forces exerted on the offshore structures are based on Stokes fifth-order wave theory and Morison equation for small body. A step by step integration method was modified and used in the nonlinear analysis. It was found that the new design approach enhanced with viscoelastic dampers was efficient on the vibration mitigation for the structural system subjected to both the wave motion and the strong ground motion.

In the present paper, a numerical and experimental analysis for a wave energy converter under extreme environmental conditions is carried out. After the definition of design waves, including a 100-year return period stochastic sea state and a deterministic rogue wave condition, a numerical analysis using potential theory and a RANS equations solver are compared with experiments carried out at the Seakeeping Basin at the Technical University of Berlin. Results are discussed with special emphasis on the limits of potential theory methods for the evaluation of extreme wave conditions and the use of the presented methodology for early design stages.
