Object oriented generic cost modeling for integrated CAD system

  • The objective of this research is to develop a cost model for integrated CAD system. A computerized system realizing this model then is used to aid designers. The first area is to propose a conceptual framework of a multilevel cost model. The methodology of constructing the model is discussed. Then suggestion of an object oriented programming technique for implementing the model is presented. Complicate estimation procedure can be systematically handled by this technique. Interval analysis to deal with the uncertainty of information and decision during design process is used. An experimentation algorithm for calculating the cost distribution is proposed to overcome the shortcoming of interval analysis. Major focus of this research is on net shape manufacturing processes including die casting, injection molding, and metal forming.

Thixoforming 공정설계 자동화를 위한 프로그램 개발에 관한 연구 (A Study on Development of Program for an Automated Thixoforming Process Design)

  • The flow behavior of semi-solid materials (SSM) is required to assist the industrial application of thixoforming technology. Particularly, to reduce many lead times, many numerical analysis packages have been developed to simulate required metal forming processes. The objectives of the development of SEMI-FORM for thixoforming process design are to predict the effect of various process variables such as pressing force, die temperature, and die velocity. However, there have not been any reports which adapt these packages to the specific characteristics of SSM. SO, this paper presents an overview of the development of thixoforming simulator of SEMI-FORM. The solver and post-processor of SEMI-FORM S/W for an automated thixoforming process design with arbitrarily shaped die are composed of FORTRAN Power Station 4.0 and Visual Basic 5.0, respectively. This developing SEMI-FORM S/W would be very useful for thixoforming practitioners and engineers to select the optimal process conditions to produce automotive parts with high quality.

강소성 유한요소해석에서 Hourglass Control (Hourglass Control in Rigid-Plastic Finite Element Analysis)

  • The finite element method, based on rigid-plastic formulation, is widely used to simulate metal forming processes. In order to improve the computational efficiency of the rigid-plastic FEM, one-point integration is used to evaluate the stiffness matrix with four-node rectangular elements and eight-node brick elements. In order to control the hourglass modes, hourglass strain rate components were introduced and included in the effective strain rate definition, Numerical tests have shown that the proposed one-point integration scheme reduces the stiffness matrix evaluation time without deteriorating the convergence behavior of Newton-Raphson method. Simulations of a ring compression, a plane-strain closed-die forging and the three-dimensional spike forging processes were carried out by using the proposed integration method. The simulation results are compared to those obtained by applying the conventional integraiton method in terms of the solution accuracy and computational efficiency.

증육된 벽부를 가진 더블 싱크 제품의 프로그레시브 금형 설계 (Progressive Die Design for a Component of Double Sinks with Locally Thickened Wall)

  • Thickening process in sheet metal forming is being increased to improve the strength as well as to reduce manufacturing process such as welding. This process can make it possible to obtain part locally thicker than that of initial sheet thickness. In this study, design method for manufacturing the component which has double sinks with local thickened wall is proposed. Deep drawing and upsetting processes are applied in order to form double sinks and thicken its walls. Used material is SPHC440 with the thickness of 2.0mm and initial blank size is determined on the basis of the final product. Distance between the center of double sinks and first drawing ratio to avoid fracture are the most significant factors during deep drawing. FE-analysis is implemented in order to determine the appropriate values. Progressive die is designed based on the proposed method and FE-analysis. As a result of experiment, locally thickened component can be manufactured, which has double sinks with the thickness about 3mm at the corner and wall.

  • A roller straightening process is a metal forming technique to improve the geometric quality of products such as straightness and flatness. The geometrical quality can be enhanced by eliminating unnecessary deformations produced during upstream manufacturing processes and minimizing any detrimental internal stress during the roller straightening process. The quality of steel cords can be achieved by the roller straightening depends the process parameters. Such process parameters are the roll intermesh, the roll pitch, the diameter of rolls, the number of rolls and the applied tension. This paper is concerned with the design optimization of the roller straightening process for steel cords with the aid of elasto-plastic finite element analysis. Effects of the process parameters on the straightness of the steel cord are investigated by the finite element analysis. Based on the analysis results, the optimization of the roller straightening process is performed by the response surface method. The roller straightening process using optimum design parameters is carried out in order to confirm the quality of the final products.

알루미늄 튜브(A3003, A6061)의 축관률에 따른 두께 변화에 관한 연구 (A study on the thickness change according to the necking ratio of aluminum tube(A3003, A6061))

  • The tube necking process increases the thickness of the material, and some of the tube necking products require cutting on the inside of the formed product as a post-process. In order to prevent over-cutting or un-cutting due to increased thickness during cutting, it is necessary to know in advance the increase in thickness after forming. Therefore, in this study, the thickness change according to the tube necking was observed. Aluminum 3003-F and 6061-O were used for the materials used in the experiment, and necking was carried out up to 50% of the outer diameter of the tube through five processes. The two materials were formed under the same conditions, and the thickness of three points was observed in each process. In addition, the thickness increase of the two materials was compared, and the trend of thickness increase according to the cumulative necking ratio was observed. As a result of the experiment, both materials had the smallest thickness at the end of the formed product. In addition, as a result of comparing the thickness measurement values of the two materials, the maximum difference was 0.1mm, indicating that there was no difference in thickness between the two materials.

  • 본 연구에서는 제안된 뉴로-퍼지 제어기를 사용하여 유압 서보 시스템을 제어 하고 학습하기 위한 구조로써 유압 서보 시스템의 모델링을 위한 추가적인 노력이 필 요없는 feedback error learning 구조물 채택하였다. 학습 과정에서 필요한 유압 서 보 시스템의 입-출력 사이의 감도(sensitivity)의 효과는 학습 계수에 포함된다. 이 러한 형태의 제어기가 유압 서보 시스템 제어에 유용하게 적용될 수 있다는 것을 보이 기 위해서 불확실성과 높은 비선형성 뿐만아니라 외란의 영향을 받는 유압 서보 시스 템을 대상으로 시뮬레이션을 수행했다. 시뮬레이션 결과에 의하면 제안된 뉴로-퍼지 제어기는 수학적인 모델을 기초로한 기존의 제어 알고리즘에 비해 쉽게 구성할 수 있 고 높은 정밀도, 빠른 학습 속도를 얻을 수 있는 장점을 가지고 있음을 알 수 있다.

드로우 금형의 에어 포켓 형상 및 체적예측 자동화 시스템 개발 (Development of an Automated System for Predicting Shape and Volume of Air Pocket on the Draw Die)

  • Metal stamping is widely used in the mass-production process of the automobile. During the stamping process, air may be trapped between the draw die and the panel and/or between the punch and the panel. Air pocket rapidly not only increases forming load in the final stage, but also deforms the product just formed by compressive air inside the air pocket in knockout process. To prevent these problems air bent holes are drilled in the die to exhaust the trapped air but all processes associated with air bent holes are performed by empirical know-how of workers in the field due to lack of researches. Therefore this study developed an automated design system for predicting the shape and position, and volume of air pocket on the draw die by using the AutoLISP language under AutoCAD circumstance. The system is able to display the shape of air pocket occurred in the draw die and to calculate automatically its volume by strokes. So it makes a stepping stone to calculate theoretical size of an air bent hole and numbers according to it by predicting and analyzing the position and volume of air pocket. Results obtained from the system enable the designers or manufacturers of the stamping die to be more efficient in this field.

유한요소해석 및 다구찌법을 이용한 자동차 도어 래치의 전단면 품질 향상을 위한 트리밍 공정 설계 (Process Design of Trimming to Improve the Sheared-Edge of the Vehicle Door Latch based on the FE Simulation and the Taguchi Method)

  • 자동차 도어 래치는 스프링, 사출품, 소형 모터 등의 작은 부품들을 조립하여 제조된다. 이를 위해서는 각 부품의 정밀설계 및 조립기술이 요구된다. 도어 래치는 자동차의 문을 열리지 않게 고정시켜 운전자의 안전에 직접적인 영향을 미치는 중요한 역할을 한다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 자동차 도어 래치의 주요 구성요소인 커넥터 단자의 트리밍 시, 롤오버를 저감하고 적합한 유효전단면을 찾기 위한 연구를 수행하였다. 유한요소해석과 실험계획법의 직교배열을 통한 다구찌법을 이용하여 차량용 도어 래치커넥터 단자의 전단면 품질 향상을 위한 최적 설계변수를 설정하였다. 해석에 사용된 설계변수는 클리어런스, 곡률반경, 블랭크 홀딩력이며, 커넥터 단자의 재질은 C2600이다. 해석을 통해 제안된 최적 트리밍 공정 조건은 실험을 통해 검증되었으며, 최종제품의 전단면 형상과 치수가 성형해석 결과와 잘 일치하였다. 이상의 결과로부터 차량용 도어 래치커넥터 단자의 최종 롤오버 및 유효전단면 향상을 위한 최적화에 다구찌법을 유용하게 적용할 수 있음을 알 수 있으며, 트리밍 공정 이외의 다양한 금속성형공정에도 유용하게 적용할 수 있을 것으로 사료된다.

나사산 형상에 따른 초소형 나사 전조공정의 성형특성 고찰 (Investigation into Thread Rolling Characteristics of Subminiature Screws According to Thread Shapes)

  • 최근 전자제품의 소형화 및 경량화 추세에 따라 초소형 체결제품의 개발 필요성이 대두되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 이동통신기기 적용을 위한 초소형 나사(외경 1.0 mm 피치 0.25 mm)의 전조공정에 대한 연구를 수행하였으며, 특히 대칭 나사산과 비대칭 나사산의 성형을 위한 전조공정의 유한요소해석을 수행하였다. 유한요소해석을 통해 전조금형의 수평방향 간격, 수직방향 간격, 이동 거리 등의 공정변수가 성형된 나사산의 형상정밀도에 미치는 영향을 분석하였다. 또한 대칭 나사산과 비대칭 나사산에서 발생되는 재료 유동의 차이를 비교하고, 그에 따른 공정변수의 영향을 분석하였다. 상기 해석 결과로부터 도출된 공정변수를 실제 전조공정에 적용한 결과 대칭 나사산과 비대칭 나사산 모두 원하는 형상정밀도 내에서 성공적으로 성형될 수 있음을 확인하였다.
