  • Cathodic protection technology has been widely used on ship's outer hull and inner side of ballast water tanks as a supplementary corrosion protection measure in combination with protective organic coatings. Impressed current cathodic protection system is typically opted for the ship's hull and, sacrificial anode system, for ballast water tanks. The anticipation and interest in cathodic protection system for ships has been surprisingly low-eyed to date in comparison with protective coatings. Computational analysis for the verification of cathodic protection design has been tried sometimes for offshore marine structures, however, in commercial shipbuilding section, decades old design practice is still applied, and no systematic or analytical verification work has been done for that. In this respect, over-rotection from un-erified initial design protocol has been also concerned by several experts. Especially, it was frequently reported in sacrificial anode system that even after full design life time, anode was remaining nearly intact. Another issue for impressed current system, for example, is that the anode shield area design for ship's outer hull should be compromised with actual application situation, because the state-of-the-art design equation is quite impractical from the applicator's stand. Besides that, in this study, some other critical design issues for sacrificial anode and impressed current cathodic protection system were discussed.

  • This study is concerned on the decorating design and method of handrail of the old residential houses. The method of studying is proceeding to select and survey the houses identified as the cultural properties that have the value of heritage in the handrail design. The conclusion as following ; Handrail play not only functional part but embellished part. The wood Handrails can be classified in two styles ; One "pyung"(평) style, another "keja"(계자) style. The former is composed of straight lines which looks simple. On the other hand, the latter contains the elavorated decoration which gives solid beauty. In conclusion, the characteristic of the handrail in Korean structure is found in the changing the sense of the lineal and curve beauty into the symmetrical line, and is fund in the variety of the high qualified details. Over its esthetic senses, the residents'hope and need for the goodness such as good omen, rich longevity and getting boys and formed as passive symbolic world, and the auspicious signed letters and the geometric and natural forms of plants, are expressed upon the decorating design of handrail. design of handrail.

  • The closed form solution of the equilibrium equations in the ultimate design of reinforced concrete sections under biaxial bending is presented. The stresses in the materials are described by the Model Code 1990 equations. Computation of the integral equations is performed generally in terms of all variables. The deformed shape of the section in the ultimate conditions is defined by Heaviside functions. The procedure is convenient for the use of mathematical manipulation programs and the results are easily included into nonlinear analysis codes. The equations developed for rectangular sections can be applied for other sections, such as T, L, I for instance, by decomposition into rectangles. Numerical examples of the developed model for rectangular sections and composed sections are included.

  • The present study is focused on investigating the subjective viewpoint of users favoring Galaxy phones as an element for emotional experience designs, and Q methodology used for the study of subjectivity has revealed 3 types. The first type is a type pursuing reasoned actions with high expectations for the emotional quality through direct and indirect experiences of Galaxy phones. They were shown to place an emphasis on portability and usability while having a low preference for the shape of external forms and materials. The second type is a type pursuing planned actions with an emphasis on individual subjective perceptions as well as both of physical sensation and usability. They were distinguished as a type preferring pleasure and efficiency experienced by its use. The third type is a type pursuing differentiated personalities with an emphasis on messages they want to deliver to other people through the products owned by an individual. They were identified as a type emphasizing display of personalities through differentiation in aesthetic elements.

  • In this study, an intermittently aerated activated sludge process, modified process from conventional activated sludge process, was developed to treat high strength swine wastewater, which has been blamed as major pollutant for stream pollution. Therefore, the optimum cycle for oxic and anoxic period, SRT, and OLR were studied as design parameters. The effects of different time interval for oxic and anoxic period on nitrification and denitrification were examined by operating two reactors with 60/60min and 60/90min as oxic/anoxic period. Although the reactor with 60/60min showed complete denitrification of $NO_x-N$ generated during oxic period, the reactor with 60/90min showed incomplete nitrification due to the inactivity of nitrifier by accumulated $NH_3-N$ toxicity during anoxic period. Therefore, it is recommended to operate same interval for oxic and anoxic period. In order to determine the optimum cycle for oxic/anoxic period, four different reactors with 30/30, 60/60, 90/90 and 120/120min were examined. The reactor operation with 90/90min was optimum to get the most stable results in this study. However, the optimum cycle for oxic and anoxic period should be changed with characteristics of influent wastewater and operating conditions. According to lie operation results of three reactors with SRT of 15, 20 and 30days. The reactor with 2Odays SRT showed best removal efficiency of T-N. The optimum OLR would be $2.5Kg\;COD/m^3/day$ which showed the most stable nitrification and denitrification. Since characteristics of influent wastewater in the real system has a severe fluctuation, so it is very difficult to determine each interval for oxic and anoxic period. Therefore, ORP curves, describing the change of oxidation/reduction potential in reactor, can be used as a control parameter for automatic control of oxic and anoxic period. In other words, bending point (Nitrate Knee) of ORP curve during anoxic period could be used as a starting point of oxic period.

  • Precast concrete apartments were main stream of domestic industrialized housing around 90's, and Steel Houses applying Steel Stud technique with light weighted steel have been dominant portion since 1995. On the other hand, various building techniques including Steel Stud method and highly prefabricated and industrialized Unit method are prevailing in developed countries like Japan. Steel stud and unit box have their own merits and demerits, but the more crucial aspect is that the constant design standard should be applied in each design procedure. It entails the necessity of industrial housing development on the open system basis. In this study, the design standard for unit house will be established coping with the established preparing standard for design specifications defined by architectural law and promotion law of housing construction. That is for design standard of industrialized private housing on the open system basis. This study attempts to propose the design automation, with the method of unit construction of which the rate of pre-fabrication is the biggest, that can cope with the demand of user on the basis of open-system. Ticky-tacky is the biggest technical problem in suppling industrialization housing. Therefore, we will suggest a basic plan for design automation of unit modular housing which can raise the productivity of industrialization housing by applying open system, utilized by DB of component and unit, and solve the problem concerned about ticky-tacky.

  • A characteristic transport theory code CRX is developed and tested for cell and assembly calculations. Since the characteristic method treats explicitly (analytically) the streaming portion of the transport equation, CRX treats strong absorbers well and has no practical limitations placed on the geometry of the problem. To test the code, it was applied to three benchmark problems which consist of complex meshes and compared with other codes.

  • In 1990s with the increasing of consumers' standard of life and change of life style, there has been an increase of import from overseas license brands and a new participation of big enterprises, as well as small and medium enterprises in local fashion market. As a leading fashion company with a long tradition and technique, the INDIAN brand of Sejung Inc. needs to establish a new image to preoccupy relative superiorty in the competition with other brands and satisfy future consumers in the present situation of 1990s. Therefore, for developing of its image, we made an investigation of three-dimentional marketing about business environment, and after setting up the B.I concept, we initiated to express a visual image. Through a made-up question after the completion of those works, we decided our logo mark and completed the entire design system, including the basic and applied elements of main design items of INDIAN B.I Finally, to maximize the effect of the brand identity, it is necessary for us to keep the principles in making the shape of design, to take care of them thoroughly, to make all the members' thinking and behavior unite concerned with the brand, and to execute continuous educational programs for practice of B.I. conciousness with the public relations when B.I. will be appeared on the market.
