  • In this paper, we presented a method of constructing a multiplier and an inverse element generator over finite field GF(3**m). We proposed the multiplication method using a descending order arithmetics of mod F(X) to perform the multiplication and mod F(X) arithmetics at the same time. The proposed multiplier is composed of following parts. 1) multiplication part, 2) data assortment generation part and 5) multiplication processing part. Also the inverse element generator is constructed with following parts. 1) multiplier, 2) group of output registers Rs, 3) multiplication and cube selection gate Gl, 4) Ri term sequential selection part. 5) cube processing part and 6) descending order mod F(X) generation part. Especially, the proposed multiplier and inverse element generator give regularity, expansibility and modularity of circuit design.

  • Acute myocardial infarction due to coronary occlusion by emboli originating from the prosthetic valve thrombosis is very rare but fatal disease which needs immediate diagnosis and urgent treatment. We report a case of acute myocardial infarction after left anterior descending embolic occlusion in whom had previous mitral valve replacement. Redo valve replacement following the interventional catheterization and anti platelet therapy lead to successful results.

  • This is one case report of successful resection of the aneurysm of the thoracic aorta, which det-ected by thoractomy unexpectedly, in the Department of Thoracic Surgery, Hanyang University Hospital. The patient was a 34 years old woman and subjective complaints was not related with the aneurysm. Chest film showed a small round hazy shadow in the left margin of the upper posterior mediastinum. A saccular aneurysm located on the descending thoracic aorta, 7cm distal to the left subclavian artery and arouse from the antero-lateral wall of the aorta. Excision of the saccular aneurysm was performed by cross clamping the descending aorta above and below the aneurysm, and then the defect of the aortic wall was closed by aortorrhaphy with continuous suture. Crossclamping time was required 15 minute. Histopathologically, the wall of the aneurysm consisted of all layers of the arterial wall, that is, intima, media and adventitia. Postoperative course was uneventful and aortogram showed good continuity of the blood flow of the entire aorta.

  • Steps are very common features in our living environment. Unfortunately, the occurrence of accidents on steps is thus inevitable. A failed visibility to recognize a step remains the most common attribute in these accidents. In this research, sensory scales of step visibility were created in order to examine the effects of two factors on step visibility in sensory testing methods; observation height from floor and eye condition while viewing a step from the descending direction. Results of sensory tests revealed strong influence of eye condition on step visibility. Influence of visual characteristics of each step was also examined and clarified.

  • This work is concerned with the motion of propeller driven airplanes, flying at constant velocity on ascending or descending rectilinear trajectories. Its purpose is to provide important features of rectilinear flights that are required for airplane trajectory planning but that cannot be found already published. It presents a method for calculating the amount of fuel used, the restrictions on the trajectory parameters, as inclination and speed, which result from the load factor, the lift coefficient, the positivity and upper boundedness of the power available. It presents a complete discussion of both ascending and descending flights, including gliding. Some original remarks are made about the parameters of gliding. It shows how to construct tables of parameters allowing to identify rapidly flyable trajectories. Sample calculations are shown for the Cessna 182 and a Silver Fox like unmanned aerial vehicle.

  • In this paper a method for analysing aerodynamic characteristics of a rotating parachute in steady descending motion is presented. Because of a complex geometric configuration of the parachute associated with side vents and discontinuous skirts, special procedure was adopted th handle the geometry in the analysis. A panel method was successfully applied to the present problem and yielded good results using above procedure. A CFD code using the full Navier-Stokes equations was also applied and provided good results. Parachute free drop and wind tunnel tests were performed to determine the fully developed canopy configuration and aerodynamic characteristics. The method can be used for optimizing the parachute size and side vent configurations in the design period.

  • Neuronal activities of taste-responsive cells in the nucleus of the solitary tract (NST) are affected by various physiological factors, such as blood glucose level or sodium imbalance. These phenomena suggest that NST taste neurons are under the influence of neural substrates that regulate nutritional homeostasis. In this study, we reviewed a series of in vivo electrophysiological investigations that demonstrate that forebrain nuclei, such as the lateral hypothalamus or central nucleus of the amygdala, send descending projections and modulate neuronal activity of gustatory neurons in the NST. These centrifugal modulations may mediate plasticity of taste response in the NST under different physiological conditions.

  • From October, 1986, to June, 1992 16 patients, 13 male and 3 female patients ranging in age 28 to 70 years, were operated on for thoracic aortic aneurysm, The etiology of these patients was atherosclerotic in 10, cystic medial necrosis in 4, and trauma in 2 cases, All patients were treated by use of CPB and circulatory arrest was applicated in one patient, Ten patients had aneurysms involving ascending aorta and six patients had descending aortic aneurysm, Among ten patients with ascending aortic aneurysm, annuloaortic ectasia with aortic regurgitation were seven and all underwent surgery with composite technique [Bentall operation], The other six patients with descending thoracic aneurysm were performed graft replacement. There was no early mortality but two late deaths occurred due to cerebral hemorrhage and renal problems at POD 3mo and 39mo respectively, We obtained satisfactory long-term results and overall survival rate at 5 year was 74.7%.

  • Since John Davy reported the first well-documented case of occlusive disease involving the branches of the aortic arch in 1839, many similar cases have been reported in literature, especially from oriental countries. The prognosis and symptoms depend on the degree and extent of the occlusive lesions and also on the importance of the arteries affected. The course may progress slowly or rapidly with remissions and exacerbation, and death may result from acute CVA, cardiac failure or pulmonary edema, and renal failure. No medical therapy has been able to alter conclusively the course of the disease, so various surgical procedures have been applied to relieve the obstruction and to prolong the life. We present the case of an 18 year-old female with multiple stenosis of the aorta, and performed the long bypass graft from descending aorta to common lilac artery, and the result was excellent.
