Paleo-Tsushima Water influx to the East Sea during the lowest sea level of the late Quaternary

  • The East Sea, a semi-enclosed marginal sea with shallow straits in the northwest Pacific, is marked by the nearly geographic isolation and the low sea surface salinity during the last glacial maximum (LGM). The East Sea might have the only connection to the open ocean through the Korea Strait with a sill depth of 130 m, allowing the paleo-Tsushima Water to enter the sea during the LGM. The low paleosalinity associated with abnormally light $\delta^{18}O$ values of planktonic foraminifera is interpreted to have resulted from river discharge and precipitation. Nevertheless, two LGM features in the East Sea are disputable. This study attempts to estimate volume transport of the paleo-Tsushima Water via the Korea Strait and further examines its effect on the low sea surface salinity (SSS) during the lowest sea level of the LGM. The East Sea was not completely isolated, but partially linked to the northern East China Sea through the Korea Strait during the LGM. The volume transport of the paleo-Tsushima Water during the LGM is calculated approximately$(0.5\~2.1)\times10^{12}m^3/yr$ on the basis of the selected seismic reflection profiles along with bathymetry and current data. The annual influx of the paleo-Tsushima Water is low, compared to the 100 m-thick surface water volume $(about\;79.75\times10^{12}m^3)$ in the East Sea. The paleo-Tsushima Water influx might have changed the surface water properties within a geologically short time, potentially decreasing sea surface salinity. However, the effect of volume transport on the low sea surface salinity essentially depends on freshwater amounts within the paleo-Tsushima Water and excessive evaporation during the glacial lowstands of sea level. Even though the paleo-Tsushima Water is assumed to have been entirely freshwater at that time period, it would annually reduce only about 1‰ of salinity in the surface water of the East Sea. Thus, the paleo-Tsushima Water influx itself might not be large enough to significantly reduce the paleosalinity of about 100 m-thick surface layer during the LGM. This further suggests contribution of additional river discharges from nearby fluvial systems (e.g. the Amur River) to freshen the surface water.

초기 산소 농도가 고에너지 이온 주입시 발생하는 산소 축적 및 불순물 확산에 미치는 영향 (Effcets of Initial Oxygen Concentration on Oxygen Pileup and the Diffusion of Impurities after High-energy Ion Impaltation)

  • 본 논문에서는 초기 산소 농도가 고에너지 이온 주입시 결정 격자 손상에 의해 발생하는 산소 축적(pileup) 현상 및 주입된 불순물의 확산에 미치는 영향을 실험적으로 고찰하였다. 초기 산소 농도가 11.5, 15.5 ppma인 p-type (100)실리콘 웨이퍼에 \sup 11\B\sup +\ \sup 31\P\sup +\ 이온을 각각 1.2 MeV, 2.2 MeV 의 에너지로 1×10\sup 15\cm\sup 2\ 주입하고, 700℃(20시간)+1000℃(10시간)의 2단계 열처리를 거치 후 주입된 불순물 및 산소 농도의 분포를 이차이온질량분석기 (Secondary Ion Mass Spectrometry, SIMS)로 관찰하였으며 잔류 2차 결함의 분포는 투과전자현미경(Transmission Electron Microscopy, TEM)으로 관찰하였다. SIMS 측정 결과 산소의 축적이 {{{{ { R}_{ } }}}}\sub p\(projected range) 부근에서 관찰되었으며 열처리 후에도 상당한 양의 2차 결합 띠가 {{{{ { R}_{ } }}}}\sub p\부근에서 관찰되는 것으로 보아 2차 결함에 의해 산소가 포획되었음을 알 수 있다. 또한 붕소와 인의 확산은 웨이퍼의 초기 산소 농도가 클수록 벌크 방향으로의 확산이 증대되는 현상을 볼 수 있었다.

청년기 치주염 진전의 임상적, 미생물학적, 생화학적 및 면역학적 연구 (CLINICAL, MICROBIOLOGICAL, BIOCHEMICAL AND IMMUNOLOGICAL STUDY ON THE PROGRESSION OF ADOLESCENT PERIODONTITIS)

  • The present study has been performed to evaluate the clinical, microbiological, biochemical and immunological parameters associated with the periodontal disease activity in adolescent periodontitis. 21 young adolescents with evidences of periodontal attachment loss participated in the study for upto 3 years of examination. Probing pocket depths and attachment levels of whole dentitions were annually recorded and 4 deepest pockets, with initial probing depth ${\geq}$ 4mm, were selected as the representative experimental sites of a patient. Sites experiencing attachment loss ${\geq}$ 1mm during the 3-year experimental period were designated as the active sites and these sites were examined for the microbiological and biochemical profiles at the time when attachment loss occurred. Microbiological assay included cultural studies and PerioScan for monitoring BANA(+) organisms(e.g. Porphyromonas gingivalis, Treponema denticola, Bacteriodes forsythus). Biochemical assay has been performed for monitoring GCF levels of neutral protease. Serum IgG and IgG2 titers against Porphyromonas gingivalis 381 were determined of a patients at the beginning and the end of the study, respectively for patient-based analysis. The results indicated that the parameters consisting of microbiological cultures and GCF neutral protease exhibited low association with the periodontal disease activity in adolescents. However, the specificity for microbiological culture of the selected periodontopathic organisms(Aa,Pg,Pi) were considerably high. Moreover, the clinical pameters such as bleeding on probing and presence of plaque as well as IgG levels against Pg at the baseline exminations were closely associated with the subsequent evidences of attachment loss during the whole experimental period(3-year).

3.5KHz 천부지층탐사자료의 너울영향제거 (Suppression of Swell Effect in 3.5KHz Subbottom Profiler Data)

  • 3.5KHz 천부지층탐사기(Subbottom Profiler)는 10~100m 깊이까지의 천부 해저지층구조를 정밀하게 파악하기 위한 탐사장비이다. 천부지층탐사는 1m 보다 정밀한 해상도를 요하는 탐사이다. 그러나 해상의 파고는 대부분 1m 이상인 경우가 많기 때문에 파도에 의한 너울영항으로 자료의 품질이 크게 저하된다. 본 연구에서는 디지털로 취득된 3.5KHz 천부지층탐사자료에서 너울영향을 제거함으로써 고품질의 지층단면도를 획득할 수 있음을 보였다. 너울 효과를 제거하기 전에 해저면 신호의 진폭이 큰 점을 이용하여 해저면 추출심도를 구하였다. 너울영향을 제거하기 위하여 인접트레이스의 추출심도를 이용한 인접심도 평균법과 고주파 제거 필터링법을 각각 적용한 결과, 두가지 모두 양호한 결과를 도출할 수 있었다. 자료의 상태가 매우 불량한 경우와 심도가 얕아 직접파와 중첩되는 경우 등에서는 해저면 심도추출이 부정확하여 너울영향제거에 어려움이 있다.

플라즈마 이온주입 방법에 의한 질화철 제조 및 자기적 성질 (Magnetic Properties and Production of Fe-N Phases by Plasma Source Ion Implantation)

  • 플라즈마 이온주입 장치를 이용하여 $\alpha$-Fe foil에 질소 이온을 주입하여 질화철 결정상을 만들었으며, 이때 질소 이온 주입시간을 15분(FEN15)과 30분 (Fe30)으로 처리되었다. 오제 전자 분광법(Auger electron spectroscopy : AES)을 이용하여 측정한 주입된 질소 이온의 깊이는 사편 FeN15와 FeN30에서 각각 12000$\AA$과 40000$\AA$으로 나타난다. 진동 시편 자력계(vibrating sample magnetometer : VSM)측정결과 as-implanted 각각의 시편은 포화자화 값이 순수한 $\alpha$-Fe foil 보다 증가되었으며, 이는 $\alpha$'-Fe8N 또는 $\alpha$'-Fe16N2의 결정구조가 그원인으로 판단된다. 따라서 본 연구는 플라즈마 이온주입 방법으로 제작된 질화철에서 부분적인 $\alpha$'또는 $\alpha$'의 졀정구조 형성 가능성을 확인할 수 있었다.

서울시 모델 구역 지진피해 추정 연구 (A Study on the Seismic Damage Estimation in the Model District of Seoul City)

  • 서울시 모델 구역의 건축물을 대상으로 가상 시나리오 지진에 의한 피해를 추정하였다. 다양한 주거 및 구조 특성을 대표할 수 있고 지반 증폭 효과를 고려할 수 있는 지역을 모델 구역으로 선정하였다. 모델 구역 내 건축물은 구조 형식에 따라 11 종류로 분류하였으며 HAZUS에서 제시한 값을 사용하여 역량 곡선(capacity curve)과 취약도 곡선(fragility curve)을 생성하였다. 가상 시나리오 지진의 지반 운동은 인공 지진 운동 생성 방법을 사용하여 생성하였으며 모델 구역을 표토층 두께에 따라 3개의 구역으로 나누고 지반응답해석을 수행하였다. 건축물의 피해 확률은 역량 스펙트럼 방법과 취약도 곡선을 사용하여 계산하였다. 최종적으로 GIS 데이터베이스를 활용하여 모델 구역 내 건축물의 전반적 피해 정도를 추정하였다.

방사선투과필름에서 Density Profile을 이용한 배관의 두께 평가 (Thickness Evaluation of Pipeline Using Density Profile on a Radiograph)

  • 내부가 비어 있거나 유체로 절반 채워진 보온 및 비보온 배관에 대해 방사선 조사 방향에 따른 투과두께와 농도 변화를 전산 시뮬레이션 하였다. 결과적으로 내부가 비어있는 배관의 경우 투과필름에서 농도 변화가 연속적이며 대칭적인 반면, 유체가 절반 채워진 배관의 경우는 방사선 조사 방향에 따라 농도 변화가 비대칭적이며 크게 달라질 수 있음을 알았다. 인공 결함을 가공한 탄소강 배관 시편을 방사선원 Ir-192로 방사선투과시험 한 뒤 농도 변화를 측정하고 이론적으로 계산한 농도 변화와 비교한 결과 산란 방사선에 의한 영향이 큰 가장자리를 제외한 부분에서는 농도 변화를 이용한 두께 평가가 가능함을 확인하였다.

금강 백제보 구간 수온성층 형성과 임계유속 관계 (Relationship of the Thermal Stratification and Critical Flow Velocity Near the Baekje Weir in Geum River)

  • In Geum River of Korea, three multi-purpose weirs were built at the downstream of Daecheong Reservoir during the Four Major River Restoration Project (FMRRP). The weirs have altered the hydraulic characteristics of the river, and consequently transformed the large areas of flowing ecosystem to deep and wide stagnant environment. In every summer, a thermal stratification occurred near the Baekje Weir having mean depth of 4.0 m, and the surface algal blooms dominated by buoyant cyanobacteria have been frequently formed after the FMRRP. The objective of this study was to investigate the relationship between flow velocity and thermal stability of the waterbody using a three-dimensional (3D) hydrodynamic model (EFDC+) after calibration against the thermistor chain data obtained in 2014. A new Sigma-Zed vertical grid system of EFDC+ that minimize the pressure gradient errors was used to better simulate the thermodynamics of the waterbody. The model reasonably simulated the vertical profiles of the observed water temperatures. The vertical mean flow velocity and the Richardson Number (Ri) that represents the stability of waterbody were estimated for various management water levels and flow rates scenarios. The results indicated that the thermal stability of the waterbody is mostly high ($Ri{\gg}0.25$) enough to establish stratification, and largely depend on the flow velocity. The critical flow velocity that can avoid a persistent thermal stratification was found to be approximately 0.1 m/s.

Subsurface Structure of the Yeongdong Basin by Analyzing Aeromagnetic and Gravity Data

  • Aeromagnetic and gravity data were analyzed to delineate the subsurface structure of the Yeongdong basin and its related fault movement in the Okcheon fold belt. The aeromagnetic data of the total intensity (KIGAM, 1983) were reduced to the pole and three dimensional inverse modeling, which considers topography of the survey area in the modeling process, were carried out. The apparent susceptibility map obtained by three dimensional magnetic inversion, as well as the observed aeromagnetic anomaly itself, show clearly the gross structural trend of the Yeongdong basin in the direction on between $N30^{\circ}E$ and $N45^{\circ}E$. Gravity survey was carried out along the profile, of which the length is about 18.2 km across the basin. Maximum relative Bouguer anomaly is about 7 mgals. Both forward and inverse modeling were also carried out for gravity analysis. The magnetic and gravity results show that the Yeongdong basin is developed by the force which had created the NE-SW trending the magnetic anomalies. The susceptibility contrast around Yeongdong fault is apparent, and the southeastern boundary of the basin is clearly defined. The basement depth of the basin appears to be about 1.1 km beneath the sea level, and the width of the basin is estimated to be 7 km based on the simultaneous analysis of gravity and magnetic profiles. There exists an unconformity between the sedimentary rocks and the gneiss at the southeastern boundary, which is the Yeongdong fault, and granodiorite is intruded at the northwestern boundary of the basin. Our results of gravity and magnetic data analysis support that the Yeongdong basin is a pull-apart basin formed by the left-stepping sinistral strike-slip fault, which formed the Okcheon fold belt.

맥진 가압 프로파일 측정 시스템 개발 (Development of Pulse Diagnosis Hold-down Pressure Measurement System)

  • Pulse diagnosis is the one of the most important diagnostic process to traditional medical doctors. Although the pulse diagnosis position, Gwan is apart from Chon or Cheok by 10$\sim$20mm at most, traditional medical doctors applies different indent pressures and even they states different pulse images are felt at Chon, Gwan and Cheok. One the other hand, the education on pulse diagnosis behavior includes tantalizing problem caused by no tool for communication between trainer and trainee. On account of this situation, we tried to develop a system which can measure the hold-down pressure during a pulse diagnosis and compare the hold-down pressure profile of trainer and that of trainee. This system can be divided into three parts - pulse pressure sensing part, signal acquisition part and data storing part. A correction curve was generated by the relation between output voltages and standard weights. Using this system, 3 channel hold-down pressure profile of a oriental medical doctor were recorded three times. In the profile, three period were observed and all period included two process for searching the depth of pulsation and for classifying the pulse feeling into one or more of 28 pulse types. The maximum value of pulse profile was 1.3$kg{\cdot}f$ which was more than reported by previous chinese groups and the mean values of three channel ranged from 240$g{\cdot}f$ to 430$g{\cdot}f$. In frequency domain, each channel has some dominant frequency components - about 10Hz, 35Hz and 75Hz. In further study, we want to collect more profiles from lage number of oriental medicine doctors and hope to develop a measuring system which can measure the hold-down pressure on subject's skin directly.
