The collected data were processed by using the SPSS program and analyzed by using descriptive statistics and Pearson's correlation. Results: Parenting stress in mothers with cerebral palsy children was $91.84\pm20.75$, depression was $20.54\pm11.30$, and Yangsaeng was $92.77\pm15.79$ There was a positive relationship between parenting stress and depression. Parenting stress and depression were negatively related with Yangsaeng. Conclusions: The results suggest that Yangsaeng as an oriental health care regimen can lower the level of parenting stress and depression. In this regard, to promote a healthier life for mothers with cerebral palsy children, it would be beneficial to develop a nursing intervention program that incorporates the use of Yangsaeng.

  • This study investigated relationships between mother's perfectionism and child's unconditional selfacceptance, depression, and anxiety. Participants were 602 4th, 5th and 6th grade elementary school children(mean age=11) and their mothers. Children reported levels of unconditional self-acceptance, depression, and anxiety; mothers reported their own perfectionism. Mother's perfectionism was positively related to her child's depression and anxiety. The unconditional self-acceptance of the child was negatively related to child's depression and anxiety. Child's unconditional self-acceptance was found to have moderating effects on the relationship between mother's perfectionism and child's depression and anxiety. The findings of this study indicated that unconditional self-acceptance functions as a protective factor for children who might have such psychological problems as depression and anxiety.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the relationships between children's roles, parental attachment, teacher's concerns and school adjustment among Children's Alcoholics(COAs). Participants were 2,803 middle and high school students in Seoul. The regression analysis results showed that hero role was positively associated with school bonding and academic performance but increased the level of anxiety/depression. Meanwhile, scapegoat and lost children's roles were negatively associated with school bonding and also increased the level of anxiety/depression. Mascot role were positively associated with school bonding and academic performance but had no relation with anxiety/depression. Regarding moderating effects, maternal attachment moderated the relationship between scapegoat role and school bonding while teacher's concerns moderated the relationship between hero role and anxiety/depression, and the relationship between scapegoat role and anxiety/depression. These findings suggested that practitioners need to consider the contributions of children's roles on school adjustment and moderating effects of maternal attachment or teacher's concerns when intervention programs are developed to improve school adjustment among COAs.

  • The purpose of this descriptive study was to determine the hopelessness and depression levels of parents of children diagnosed with cancer and undergoing cancer treatment and factors affecting these levels. The study was carried out with parents of 44 children receiving treatment in a paediatric haematology clinic of a university hospital. Data were collected using a survey form, the Beck Hopelessness Scale (BHS) and the Beck Depression Scale (BDS). The mean BDS score of the mothers and fathers was $18.3{\pm}11.30$ and $15.2{\pm}11.33$, respectively. The mean BHS score of the mothers was $6.45{\pm}4.40$, whereas the mean BHS score of the fathers was $5.88{\pm}4.27$. The results showed that the levels of hopelessness and depression among the mothers were higher than among the fathers (p<0.001). There was a positive relationship between the hopelessness and depression scores of the mothers and the fathers (p<0.05), and the levels of hopelessness and depression scores of the fathers increased as those of the mothers increased. A weak financial situation of the family increased the hopelessness and depression levels of the fathers. The hopelessness and depression levels of the mothers who were supported by their families and relatives were decreased compared to those without such support (p<0.05). The results show that the parents of children with cancer face many psychosocial and spiritual problems. Using simple screening tools, nurses can identify at-risk parents and direct them to support services. We conclude that actively encouraging families to avail themselves of support resources and supporting them financially would positively affect the levels of depression and hopelessness of parents of children with cancer.

The participants comprised 578 school age children in Daegu or Gyeongbok Province. The participants completed measures of self-perception(SPPC) and depression(CDI). The SPPC consisted of 6 domains, self-perception(scholastic competence, social acceptance, athletic competence, physical appearance, behavioral conduct and global self-worth). The collected data were analyzed by means of MANOVA, Repeated measures MANOVA, and Multiple Regression Analysis(using SPSS PC(19.0 version). The results were as follows. (1) Among the domain specific areas of self-perception, global self worth scored the highest amongst the other subscales(scholastic competence, social acceptance, athletic competence, behavioral conduct and global self-worth) in both boys and girls. (2) Level of depression in school children differed according to sex and domain specific self-perception which was social acceptance, physical appearance, behavioral conduct and global self worth. (3) Self-perception on depression was a more salient predictor in girls than boys. Among the domain specific area of self-perception, global self worth was the best predictor in both boys and girls.
