  • The texturization properties of extrudate from isolated soybean protein and rice flour by extrusion cooking were investigated. The addition of up to 30% rice flur to isolated soy proetin could give more tenderness to the texturized extrudate. As the rice flour content increased, die temperature, nitrogen solubility index, and integrity index were decreased slightly with lower chewiness and gumminess. The water content of final extrudate was increased as the addition of rice flour increased, while density was maintained without variation, and rehydration ratio was decreased. The distribution of pressure profile during extrusion were in the range of $15-100kg/cm^3$. As the addition of rice flour increased, scanning electron micrographs demonstrated the gelatinized surface structure of rice starch and the increased air cell size of the testurized extrudate.

  • The hydrological-geomorphic character is closely related with runoff in basin. A development of GIS greatly helps investigating about mechanism between theirs. We analyze local slope and hillslope length which are related with hydrological response. But variation of these geomorphic variables has very wide range at each pixel. So there's a limit as to use directly. Therefore we investigate a relation between hydrological response and distributed geomorphic variables according to statistical character of distributed map considering spatial correlation. As a result, the local slope affects peak discharge, and the hillslope length affects peak discharge and time, mean and variance of hydrological response. Henceforth these hydrological-geomorphic analyze methods can be improved that hydrology response is directly analogized with DEM data.

  • We make an interference analysis to obtain a critical ctiteria for coexisting availability of WLAN and WiBro between adjacent channels can be used in TVWS(TV White Space). To meet this analysis, we set the various transmission parameters including the emission and blocking mask, antenna height and gain, transmission power and bandwidth, channel model etc. And, based on these parameters, we analyze on performances according to a variation of guard band, a number of service user and allowable transmit power of the user operating in the adjacent channels. In this paper, we consider a urban environment and apply a Extended Hata-SRD for WLAN and an interference link and Extended Hata model for WiBro, respectively. With these results, we can see how each system can be shared in an adjacent channel.

  • Probabilistic analysis is a powerful method to quantify variability and uncertainty common in engineering geology fields. In rock slope engineering, the uncertainty and variation may be in the form of scatter in orientations and geometries of discontinuities, and also test results. However, in the deterministic analysis, the factor of safety which is used to ensure stability of rock slopes, is based on the fixed representative values for each parameter without a consideration of the scattering in data. For comparison, in the probabilistic analysis, these discontinuity parameters are considered as random variables, and therefore, the reliability and probability theories are utilized to evaluate the possibility of slope failure. Therefore, in the probabilistic analysis, the factor of safety is considered as a random variable and replaced by the probability of failure to measure the level of slope stability. In this study, the stochastic properties of discontinuity parameters are evaluated and the stability of rock slope is analyzed based on the random properties of discontinuity parameters. Then, the results between the deterministic analysis and the probabilistic analysis are compared and the differences between the two analysis methods are explained.

  • After spermatogenesis, spermatozoa come in contact with fluids in the epididymis where they mature. During ejaculation, spermatozoa are mixed with secretions from prostate gland, vesicular glands, and bulbourethral glands. During natural mating, seminal plasma is deposited in the female reproductive tract eliciting various physiological and immunological responses. With the advances in proteomics, the components of seminal plasma have been identified and the information may be valuable in identifying markers for fertility. Components of seminal plasma that affect fertility have been discovered and the mechanism of action of these factors has been determined. The objective of this study was to determine the specific seminal plasma proteins from Korean native cattle, Hanwoo, and Korean native brindle cattle (KNBC) with the long term goal of improving fertilization rate. After SDS-PAGE and 2-dimensional gel electrophoresis, proteins were identified by Q-ToF analysis. They include plasma serine protease inhibitor precursor and platelet-activating factor acetylhydrolase after SDS-PAGE. Number and density of the spots in 2-dimensional gels were higher in KNBC than Hanwoo. Proteins identified from the paired spots of both breeds include chain A, bull seminal plasma PDC-109 Fibronectin Type II module, BSP-30 kDa precursor, and Spermadhesin Z13 or its precursor. Interestingly, some proteins were identified from multiple spots. The functional differences of these diverse forms of the proteins may require further studies. With their previously reported roles in sperm capacitation by these proteins, the studies on the mechanism of action, ligand interaction and the variation in the genome may help improving fertility in cattle.

  • The passage of the interplanetary discontinuity (i.e., sudden increases in the solar wind speed, density, and IMF strength) was detected by ACE near GSE (x, y, z) ~ (222, -36, 3) Re upstream of Earth around 22:48 UT on November 24, 2008. About 55 min later, this solar wind discontinuity was observed by Geotail near GSE (x, y, z) ~ (23, 18, -7) Re in front of Earth's bow shock. From the propagation time of the solar wind discontinuity between ACE and Geotail, it is expected that the discontinuity front is aligned with the Parker spiral and strikes the postnoon dayside magnetopause first. Using coordinated multi-point measurements (THEMIS and GOES) at or in geosynchronous orbit, we observed a tailward propagating sudden impulse (SI), excited by the interplanetary discontinuity, around 23:50 UT with its front retaining alignment similar to that of solar wind discontinuity. The SI event appears a negative-then-positive variation in the H component at high latitude Chokurdakh (CHD: MLAT ~ 64.7 deg) in the prenoon sector, which is opposite sense of normal SI event. During the positive deflection at CHD, the SuperDARN Hokkaido radar detected the downward motion of the ionosphere, implying westward electric field enhancement, at subauroral latitudes near CHD meridian. In our study we will discuss magnetospheric and ionospheric responses to the passage of the solar wind discontinuity using multi-point observations in space and on the ground.

  • In the orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) system, the nonlinear distortion in the high power amplifier(HPA) degrades the system performance because of the high peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR). In this paper, a semi-analytical method is newly proposed for the performance evaluation of the nonlinearly distorted OFDM communication system. In the proposed method, at first, the probability density function (pdf) of the PAPR is generated by computer simulation. Then, mean and variance of the non-linear distortion noise process are computed. Next, the overall BER is found by the analytical method. When the equivalent SSPA model is applied in case of the QPSK/16-QAM and AWGN channel, the BER is calculated for the variation of the IBO(input back-off) and PAPR parameter. It is shown that the results by proposed method are very similar to those of the conventional Monte-Carlo method. The computation time can be considerably reduced than the conventional method that depends on the magnitudes of BER and IBO.

  • The purpose of this paper is improvement the piezoelectric of Polyvinylidene fluoride(PVDF) organic thin films is fabricated by vapor deposition method. The piezoelectric of PVDF organic thin films attributed to dipole orientation in crystalline region. Also, the piezoelectric characteristic reduced that dipole moments orientation in crystalline region interfered with impurity carriers. Therefore, PVDF organic thin films fabricated with high substrate temperature condition for crystallinity improvement. The crystallinity of PVDF organic thin films fabricated by this condition increase from 47 to 67.8%. The ion density of PVDF organic thin films fabricated by substrate temperature variation from $30^{\circ}C$ to $105^{\circ}C$ decreased from $1.62{\times}10^{16}cm^3$ to $6.75{\times}10^{11}cm^3$ when temperature and frequency were $100^{\circ}C$, 10Hz, respectively. The $d_{33}$ and piezo-voltage coefficient of PVDF organic thin films increased from 20pPC/N to 33pC/N and $162.9{\times}10^{-3}V{\cdot}m/N$ to $283.2{\times}10^{-3}V{\cdot}m/N$, respectively. For the sake of the applications of piezoelectric sensor, we analyzed the output voltage characteristic as a function of the distance between an oscillator of 28kHz and PVDF organic thin film transducer. From this, we found that the output voltage is inversely proportional to the distance. At this time, the period was about $35.798{\mu}s$ and equal the oscillator frequency.

  • (Pb$\_$0.4/Ca$\_$0.6/)(Fe$\_$1/2/Nb$\_$1/2/)O$_3$ system was modified by 10 mol% Pb(Zn$\_$1/2/W$\_$1/2/)O$_3$ addition and their sinterability and microwave properties were investigated as a function of the amount of flux (0.975PbO-0.025SnO$_2$). With increasing flux content, single perovskite phase was maintained up to 3 wt% flux addition and further addition led to the presence of Pb-rich second phase which was confirmed by EDS analysis. The apparent densities of PCFN-PZW specimen increased and showed maximum values at 2.5 wt% flux addition for the Ts=1000$^{\circ}C$ and 2.0wt% flux addition for the Ts=1050$^{\circ}C$, respectively. The dielectric constant and Q$.$f values strongly depended on the variation of density and microstructure, where the optimum values of $\varepsilon$$\_$r/ = 91.95, Q$.$f = 5938GHz, TCF = +8.15ppm/$^{\circ}C$ were obtained for the 2.5wt% flux added PCFN-PZW specimen sintered at 1000$^{\circ}C$ for 4h.

  • This paper discusses the daytime atmospheric conditions and the possibility of daytime star detection with the purpose of practical use of the star sensor for daylight navigation. In order to estimate the daytime atmospheric data, we use the standard atmospheric model (LOWTRAN 7), from which atmospheric transmittance and radiance from background sky are calculated. Assuming the star sensor with an optical filter to reduce background radiation, different separation angles between the star sensor and the sun are set up to express the effect of the solar radiation. As considerations of field of view (FOV) of the star sensor, the variation of the sky background radiation and the star density of the detectable star are analyzed. In addition, the integration time to achieve a required signal-to-noise ratio and the number of the radiation-caused electrons of the charge coupled detector(CCD) working as the limit to daylight application of the star sensor are calculated.
