  • The purpose of this paper is to propose the kernel density estimator and the jackknife kernel density estimator in the presence of k's unidentified outliers, and to compare the small sample performances of the proposed estimators in a sense of mean integrated square error(MISE).

Halo interactions in the Horizon run 4 simulation

  • Interactions such as mergers and flybys play a fundamental role in shaping galaxy morphology. We used the Horizon Run 4 cosmological N-body simulations to study the frequency and the type of halo interactions as a function of the environment, the separation p, the mass ratio q, and the target halo mass. We defined targets as haloes more massive than 10^11 Msun/h, and a target is interacting if it is located within the virial radius of a neighbour halo more massive than 0.4 times the target mass. We find that the interaction rate as a function of time has a universal shape for different halo mass and large-scale density, with an increase and saturation. Larger density yield steeper slopes and larger final interaction rates, while larger masses saturate later. Most interactions happen at large-scale density contrast ${\delta}$ about 10^3, regardless of the redshift. We also report the existence of two modes of interactions in the (p,q) plane, reflecting the nature (satellite or main halo) of the target halo. These two trends strongly evolve with redshift, target mass, and large-scale density. Interacting pairs have similar spins parameters and aligned spins, with radial trajectories, and prograde encounters for non-radial trajectories. The satellite trajectories become less and less radial as time proceed. This effect is stronger for higher-mass target, but independent of the large-scale density.

ECG Denoising by Modeling Wavelet Sub-Band Coefficients using Kernel Density Estimation

  • Discrete wavelet transforms are extensively preferred in biomedical signal processing for denoising, feature extraction, and compression. This paper presents a new denoising method based on the modeling of discrete wavelet coefficients of ECG in selected sub-bands with Kernel density estimation. The modeling provides a statistical distribution of information and noise. A Gaussian kernel with bounded support is used for modeling sub-band coefficients and thresholds and is estimated by placing a sliding window on a normalized cumulative density function. We evaluated this approach on offline noisy ECG records from the Cardiovascular Research Centre of the University of Glasgow and on records from the MIT-BIH Arrythmia database. Results show that our proposed technique has a more reliable physical basis and provides improvement in the Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR) and Percentage RMS Difference (PRD). The morphological information of ECG signals is found to be unaffected after employing denoising. This is quantified by calculating the mean square error between the feature vectors of original and denoised signal. MSE values are less than 0.05 for most of the cases.

Effects of element composition in soil samples on the efficiencies of gamma energy peaks evaluated by the MCNP5 code

  • In this work, self-absorption correction factor related to the variation of the composition and the density of soil samples were evaluated using the p-type HPGe detector. The validated MCNP5 simulation model of this detector was used to evaluate its Full Energy Peak Efficiency (FEPE) under the variation of the composition and the density of the analysed samples. The results indicates that FEPE calculation of low gamma ray is affected by the composition and the density of soil samples. The self-absorption correction factors for different gamma-ray energies which was fitted as a function of FEPEs via density and energy and fitting parameters as polynomial function for the logarithm neper of gamma ray energy help to calculate quickly the detection efficiency of detector. Factor Analysis for the influence of the element composition in analysed samples on the FEPE indicates the FEPE distribution changes from non-metal to metal groups when the gamma ray energy increases from 92 keV to 238 keV. At energies above 238 keV, the FEPE primarily depends only on the metal elements and is significantly affected by aluminium and silicon composition in soil samples.

하수처리장 주요 기자재의 고장확률밀도함수를 이용한 가용도 모델링 및 평가에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Availability Modelling and Assessment with Failure Density Function of Major Equipment for a Sewage Treatment Plant)

  • 본 논문에서는 하수처리장 주요 장비 고장밀도함수를 기반으로 시스템 가용성 평가가 수행되었다. 프로세스 구성과 구성요소의 고장률에 따른 시스템 가용성 및 위험요소 분석에 초점을 맞추고 있다. 하수처리장 시스템 가용성 분석을 위하여 기자재 분류와 해당기자재의 고장확률밀도함수를 정립하였다. 가용성 평가 과정의 불확실성의 해소를 위하여 몬테카를로 시뮬레이션 기법과 이벤트기법을 도입하였다. 하수처리장 시스템 가용성은 구성장비가 직렬연결 상태인 경우에 50.4%로 평가되었으며, 장비별 보조시스템이 추가 적용된 경우 80.1% 이상으로 증가하였다. 슬러지 탈수 및 농축 공정의 시스템 오작동은 전체 시스템 오작동의 77% 이상에 해당하고 있어 주 위험 요인으로 평가되었다.

주행 중 타이어 손상에 의해 발생하는 초음파 포락선 신호의 펄스 간격 시간밀도함수에 의한 손상 분별 (The Tire Damage Classification by Pulse Interval Time Density Function of Ultrasonic Wave Envelope on Driving)

  • 요 약 주행 중인 차량의 타이어에서 발생하는 초음파 신호의 포락선에서 손상 물질에 의한 특징 신호의 주기를 검출하여 타이어 손상을 분별하는 방법을 연구하였다. 손상된 타이어는 주행 시 회전에 의해 주기성을 갖는 신호를 발생하기 때문에 이를 펄스화하고 펄스 간의 시간 간격을 밀도함수로 나타내어 우성 주기를 검출하였다. 펄스화하기 위한 임계값은 포락선 신호를 이동평균필터 처리하여 결정하였다. 손상물질이 한 개이고, 주행속도가 약 50km/h, 80km/h일 때, 시간밀도함수의 결과는 제 1 피크시간이 156ms, 102ms로 주행속도에 따라 계산한 타이어의 회전주기와 일치하였고, 한 개 이상의 손상물질의 경우에는 각 피크시간의 합이 타이어의 회전주기와 동일한 결과를 얻을 수 있었다.

허혈성 뇌졸중 환자의 운동기능회복에 따른 중요 혈액인자들의 변화 (The Change of the Important Blood Factors According to the Recovery of Motor Function with Ischemic Stroke Patients)

  • Background: This study had been carried out with 18 ischemic stroke patients as its object for about eight months from October, 2006 to May, 2007 in order to observe the recovery of motor function and the change of important blood factors according to the different quantitative exercises. Methods: Subjects were assigned randomly either experimental group (n=19) or the control group (n=19), when the study began the halfway on this study dropout 20 patients, and final subjects remained experimental group's 9 patients and control group's 9 patients. Both groups received thermotherapy and functional electrical stimulation (FES), also taken different quantitative exercise therapy (experimental group 180 minutes, control group 80 minutes). Subjects were assessed for upper and lower extremities motor function Fugl-Meyer Scale; FMS), blood test (white blood count; WBC, low density lipoprotein -cholesterol; LDL-C, high density lipoprotein-cholesterol; HDL-C, Troponin) during pretest, after 2 months, after 3 months. Results: The results of this study were as follows; 1. FMS has no statistically significant difference with intergroup(p>.05). But there was a statistically significant difference with each groups (p<.05). 2. WBC has no statistically significant difference with intergroup (p>.05). But there was a statistically significant difference in control group (p<.05), without experimental group (p>.05). 3. LDL-C has no statistically significant difference with intergroup (p>.05). But there was a statistically significant difference in control group (p<.05), without experimental group (p>.05). 4. HDL-C has no statistically significant difference with intergroup (p<.05). But there was a statistically significant difference with each groups (p>.05). 5. Troponin Ⅰ has no statistically significant difference with intergroup (p>.05). Also there was no statistically significant difference with each groups (p>.05). Conclusion: These findings suggest that different quantitative exercises has no effect on FMS, LDL-C, HDL-C, WBC, Troponin Ⅰ with ischemic stroke patients. But the treatment period that there's less correlation between the recovery of motor function and the different quantitative exercise, also less correlation between the change of important blood factors and the different quantitative exercises with ischemic stroke patients.

확률밀도함수를 고려한 서식처 적합도 지수에 의한 피라미 생태유량 산정 (Estimation of ecological flow rate for Zacco platypus based on habitat suitability index considering probability density function)

  • 본 연구에서는 확률밀도함수의 서식처 적합도 지수를 사용하여 도심하천구간과 자연하천구간에서 유량점증방법론(Instream flow Incremental Methodology, IFIM)을 토대로 피라미 서식처의 생태유량을 모의하였다. 이와 같은 방법을 적용하기 위하여 본 연구에서는 PHABSIM 모형을 사용하였다. 본 연구에서는 서식처 적합도 지수(Kang, 2010)를 기초로 확률밀도함수의 매개변수를 조정하여 확률밀도함수의 서식처 적합도 지수를 개발하여 생태유량을 분석하였다. 그 결과, 도심하천구간에서는 정규분포가 자연하천구간에서는 2변수 log-pearson 분포가 Kang (2010)의 생태유량에 가장 근접하는 경향을 보였다. 확률밀도함수에 의한 서식처 적합도 지수와 하천구간별로 생태유량을 모의하여 확률론적 방법을 적용한 생태유량 산정기법을 제안하였다.

퍼지기반 공간통합에 의한 제주도의 지열 부존 잠재력 탐사 (Geothermal Potential Mapping in Jeju Island Using Fuzzy Logic Based Data Integration)

  • 제주도의 지열 부존 가능지역을 추출하기 위하여 최근 활발하게 제안되고 있는 퍼지이론에 기반한 GIS 통합기법을 적용함으로써 그 효용성을 검토하였다. 지질도, 수계 분포 밀도, 분석구 분포 밀도, 선구조 분포 밀도, 항공자력도, 항공방사능도 등 각 주제도의 통계적 상관관계 분석을 위해 퍼지소속함수(Fuzzy membership function)를 그래프에 도시하였다. 현재 온천 발견 위치와 상관성은 용암류의 분출시기가 오래될수록 높았다. 수계, 분석구 및 선구조에서는 분포밀도가 낮은 곳에서 상관성이 높게 나타났으며, 항공자력도와 항공방사능도에서는 대자율 및 감마선 강도가 중간 범위인 곳에서 상관성이 높은 것으로 나타났다. 퍼지 연산자 중에서는 $\gamma$ 연산자($\gamma$=0.75)가 가장 높은 성공 비율을 보였으며, 제주도 서북부 일부지역에서 새로운 지열 부존 가능성이 제기되었다.
