Miniaturization Technology of the Filter for High-speed Wireless Communication Systems (초고속 무선통신 설비용 필터의 소형화에 관한 연구)

  • In this paper, a small band pass filter is designed using new probe type for wireless communication system. In order to provide a band pass filter which can be reduced in dimension, can be reduced in height, and can be surface-mounted. The filter was fabricated using $TE_{01{\delta}}$ mode dielectric resonator. The input/output probes are attached to coner portion of the rectangular metal cavity. Results of the manufactured filter$(12{\times}12{\times}8mm)$ show that the center frequency is 9.953GHz, the insertion loss is -2.98 dB, the 3dB-bandwidth is 15 MHz, and the lode Q is 663.

THE ION ACOUSTIC SOLITARY WAVES AND DOUBLE LAYERS IN THE SOLAR WIND PLASMA

  • Ion acoustic solitary wave in a plasma consisting of electrons and ions with an external magnetic field is reinvestigated using the Sagdeev's potential method. Although the Sagdeev potential has a singularity for n < 1, where n is the ion number density, we obtain new solitary wave solutions by expanding the Sagdeev potential up to ${\delta}n^4$ near n = 1. They are compressiv (rarefactive) waves and shock type solitary waves. These waves can exist all together as a superposed wave which may be used to explain what would be observed in the solar wind plasma. We compared our theoretical results with the data of the Freja satellite in the study of Wu et al. (1996). Also it is shown that these solitary waves propagate with a subsonic speed.

  • Mathematical model of maneuvering motion for a single-screw single-rudder ship is established and several applications to the special situations of maneuvering are attempted. While, the mathematical model for twin-screw twin-rudder ship is not presented so much, because that type of ship is not popular. Lee et al. have examined the characteristics of such ship by captive model tests in 1988, in Japan. This paper proposes new mathematical models for propeller effective wake (1 -${\omega}_p$) and effective neutral rudder angle ${delta}_R$ in the case of twin-screw twin-rudder ship. And some maneuvering motionse are calculated with proposed models and compared with exact simulations.

  • VV Cep-type long period spectroscopic-eclipsing binary AZ Cas has been observed for five years, 1985 Oct~1990 Feb, UBV at the Ilsan Station of Yonsei University Observatory. A total of 431 observations (U=129, B=142 and V=160) are made for 86 nights. Instrumental differential UBV and B-V light curves made with these observations cover phases nearly a half of one period. There is no appreciable light variation in V but in other two passbands a gradual decrease of the brightness is clearly noticed. The loss of light in B resulted in a reddening in $\Delta(B-V)$ by + 0.06 at phases between 0.4~0.5 as compared with that of at phase ~0.1. This intrinsic reddening arouses a question why at the orbital phase of the transit of a hot star in front of a cool M supergiant the heating of the facing hemisphere of M supergiant by the strong radiation from the B stat is absent. With regard to this unusual situation we propose a hypothesis that a large amount of gas stream of low temperature ejected from the surface of M supergiant component towards the B star dominates the brightness of B star and the reflection effect.

  • A syntactic and semantic approach is used to make type classification based on feature points(whorl, delta, core) and the shape of flow line around feature points. The image is divided into 30 by 30 subregions which are represented in the average direction and 4-tuple direction component. Next the relaxation process with singularity detection and convergency checking is performed. A set of semantic languages is used to describe the major flow line around the extracted feature points. LR(1) parser and feature transfer function are used to recognize the coded flow patterns. The 72 fingerprint impressions is used to test the proposed approach and the rate of the classification is about 93 percentages.

  • This paper develops the deterioration detecting sensor in oil to monitor and diagnose oil-filled transformer more effectively. The on-line inspection of the oil-filled transformers used the temperature, the changes of the capacitance, the $tan{\delta}$ in oil. This sensor was designed based on the concentric cylindrical type so that it could be placed inside of the oil-filled transformer. And comparing to the existing system, it was proven to be appropriate. Establishment of the proposed sensor helps to build the confidence in monitoring of the oil-filled transformers.

  • This study was performed to develop the precise and rapid method to distinguish the blended sesame oil through the electronic nose analysis. The sesame oil was blended with corn oil at the ratio of 95:5, 90:10, 80:20(w/w), respectively. Samples were then analyzed by gas chromatography, SPME-GC/MS and the electronic nose composed of 12 metal oxide sensors. The sensetivities(delta Rgas/Rair) of sensors by electronic nose was carried out with principal component analysis(PCA). The proportion of first principal component showed 98.76%. In this study, the electronic nose analysis could be used as a competent method to classify for genuine sesame oil.

  • To study kinematics of solar prominences, we have made Ha spectrographic study of an eruptive prominence which appeared on the 27th of August, 1992 with a position angle of 270 deg. The observation was carried out by a Littrow type spectrograph and a G1 CCD camera attached to the 25cm coronagraph at Norikura Coronal Station. In taking the spectral data the slit was placed in parallel to the solar limb at 7 different heights, each being separated by 5 arcsec with a time step of 30 sec. The observed eruptive prominence shows a wide range of line of sight Doppler velocity, spanning from $V_{dopp}=-17.5km/s\;to\;V_{dopp}=58.2km/s$. It is also found that the velocity increases with height at the rate of ${\Delta}V= 0.86 km/s/arcsec$.

  • The development of new improved type of dielectric materials on the conception of multiphase structure has been carried out in this paper. Metal alkoxides solutions were used for application of thin film by electrophoretic deposition technique. We succeeded in preparation of amorphous and composite dielectric films from Al alkoxides. Specific features of the preparation technique were considered. Microstructure of the films was examined as well as their dielectric properties. TEM analyses reveals that films deposited from aging sols and heat-treated at temperatures as low as $400^{\circ}C$ contain small whiskers of ${\delta}-Al_2O_3$.

  • The thermoacoustic refrigerator bas not only considerable possibility but also commercial usability, because it bas high reliability, lower vibration, no moving part, and can easily be constructed. In this study, the resonance characteristics of the thermoacoustic refrigerator were investigated for better performance, varying length of the resonance tube to 400mm, 500mm, 600mm, 700mm. In order to determine the optimum resonance tube length and the frequency, the $\lambda/4$ thermoacoustic engine and the similar apparatus of Wheatly type refrigerator were constructed. It was used air as a coolant. in the fifth harmonic, it was taken the highest ${\Delta}t$ that was $56.3^{\circ}C$ at 626Hz in 400mm tube with 40mm stack.
