유지의 항산화제의 항산화능력에 대하여 (Studies on the Antioxidant Action of Antioxidant of Oils and Fats)

  • Many synthetic antioxidants are now used to prevent the oxidation of oils and fats. Among the synthetic and tioxidants, it was known that those of HQ(Hydroquinone), BHA(Butyl hydroxyanisole), IG(isoamyl gallate), and NDGA(Nordihydro guaiaretic acid) are most efficient as the antioxidizing agent. In this work, Degree of antioxidation was investigated on the some such antioxidans BHA, CI(citric acid), AA(Ascoric acid) for several kinds of oils and fats which are most available in Korea by determining Acid value and Iodine Value. The results of experiments were as follows 1. The decreasing order of antioxidizing action by acid value is BHA, AA, CA. 2. The order of antioxidizing action by Iodine value is almost same as the case of Acid Value. 3. It is effective to add the antioxidants to kep oils and fat. 4. Oxidation is accelerated by standing oils and fats after boiling in the from fry pan. 5. Sesame oil is little oxidized without antioxidant.

밀 스케일을 사용한 Sr-페라이트의 특성에 미치는 산화제의 영향 (Effects of Oxidant on the Properties of Sr-ferrites Using Mill Scale)

  • We have been studied the effects of oxidant on the properties of Sr-ferrite magnets using mill scale for motor. The small-added (0.5 wt%) $NaNO_3$ oxidant improved significantly the degree of oxidation and the grindability of mill scale, and then highly enhanced the magnetic properties of anisotropic Sr-ferrite sintered magnets; such as the remanent flux density from 3.55 to 3.80 kG, the intrinsic coercivity from 2.75 to 3.22 kOe, and the maximum energy product from 2.90 to 3.45 MGOe.

플라스틱 소재의 탈변색 열화 메커니즘 분석 (A Study for Degradation Mechanism of Plastic Materials)

  • Out door exposure to daylight and weather climate conditions can cause adverse effect on the properties of automotive plastic materials. The effects of sunlight exposure, especially ultra violet (UV) radiation, can break down the chemical bonds in a polymeric material. This degradation process is called photo-degradation and ultimately leads to color changes, cracking, chalking, the loss of physical properties and deterioration of other properties. To explore the effect of sunlight exposure on the automotive materials, this study investigated photo-oxidation degree and surface property change of molding parts by analytical methods. For the further study, accelerated weathering test methods are proposed, which can correlate with out door weathering, to predict long term performance of automotive plastic materials.

핏치계 탄소섬유 제조에 있어서 산화공정이 물성에 미치는 영향 (Study of the Influence of Oxidation Treatment on the Pitch Based Carbon Fiber Properties)

  • Fibers with a high degree of axial preferred orientation can be obtained from mesophase pitch. Prior to cabonization, the pitch fibers must be rendered in fusible so that their orientation is preserved. The stabilization of the pitch fibers was heated at temperature between $250^{circ}C$ and $300^{circ}C$ and a treatment time 5 to 80minutes. Oxidized fibers heated $1800^{circ}C$without stretching. Pitch based carbon fiber have a young's modulus as high as 304GN/$m^2$. The structure of the pitch cased carbon fiber is determining factor for the mechanical properties of the produced fibers. The structure depending on the pitch precursor as well as on the oxidation time.

  • Generally, $TiO_2$ powders absorb ultraviolet rays and make oxidation/reduction reactions on its surface. Hydroxide radical(OH), a product of photocatalyst reactions, has so strong oxidation/reduction electric potential that it can oxidize noxious gas like VOCs(Volatile Organic Compounds) and NOx. In this study, $TiO_2$ was substituted for exposed concrete to investigate the purifying degree of VOCs(Benzene, Toluene) and NOx. Anatase types of $TiO_2$ were used as photocatalyst. The sun rays and the ultraviolet were used as a light source. Anatase type $TiO_2$ was better than rutile type in purifying performance. The sunray showed the best purifying performance among the light sources. $3\%$ substitution of $TiO_2$ with the sunray was enough to purify VOCs(Benzene, Toluene) and NOx efficiently.

  • The optimal coating condition for chrominum carbide coating was selected by Taguchi method. The wear tests with coated specimens by HVOF method were performed in the temperature to 80$0^{\circ}C$. Applied normal loads were selected to be from 8N to 30N. The worn surfaces and subsurfaces were characterized by XRD, EPMA, AES and SEM. The wear track increased with increasing applied normal load, and in terms of the temperature range from 400 to $600^{\circ}C$, below that range, the wear track increased, and above that temperature ragne, the wear track decreased. The degree of oxidation caused by the test temperature and the frictional heating was responsible to the unique high temperature wear behavior chromium carbide coatings.

DPPH법에 의한 식용유지의 열산화 안정성 비교 (Comparison of Oxidative Stability for the Thermally-oxidized Vegetable Oils using a DPPH Method)

  • 유지의 산화안정도 측정을 위해 개발된 DPPH법의 최적화를 위해 시료의 양에 따른 유지의 산화변화를 분석하였고, 결정도니 조건을 사용하여 시중에서 튀김유로 사용되는 4종류 식용유지의 열산화안정성을 측정하였다. CDA와 p-AV는 산화반응이 진행될수록 증가하였으며 시료간의 상대적인 산화안정성 차이를 확인할 수 있었다. 반면에 DPPH법은 유지의 산화라디칼과의 반응성을 이용하며 흡광도의 증가와 감소를 반복하는 경향을 나타냈고 이로부터 유지산화라디칼의 변화를 측정 할 수 있었다. 또한 유지의 초기 전자 혹은 수소공여능을 확인할 수 있었고, DPPH 흡광도 증가를 통해 산화방지물질의 소진속도 및 산화라디칼의 생성속도를 계산할 수 있었으며, 산화방지물질의 소진시점을 결정할 수 있었다. 따라서 DPPH법을 기존의 산화도 측정방법과 병용한다면 유지의 산화도는 물론 산화반응 단계를 측정 할 수 있고, 산화안정성을 예측하는데 도움이 될 것으로 기대된다.

정전압 분극곡선법에 의한 아말감의 부식 거동에 관한 연구 (A STUDY ON THE CORROSION BEHAVIOUR OF AMALGAMS BY USING OF POTENTIOSTATIC POLARIZATION METHOD)

  • The purpose of this study was to observe characteristic properties through the polarization curves and SEM images from 4 different types of amalgam obtained by using the potentiostats (Princeton EG & G) & SEM (Jeol/35), and to investigate the degree of corrosion on the oxidation peak of the each phase of amalgam. After each amalgam alloy and Hg was triturated as the direction of the manufacturer by means of the mechanical amalgamator (Shofu Co.), the triturated mass was inserted into the cylindrical metal mold which was 12mm in diameter and 10.0mm in height and was condensed by using routine manner. The specimen was removed from the mold and stored at room temperature for about 24 hours. The standard surface preparation was routinely carried out. Anodic polarization measurement was employed to confirm the corrosion behaviour of the amalgams in a 0.9% saline solution (P.H: 6.8-7.0) at $37^{\circ}C$. The initial rest potential (corrosion potential) was determined after 30 minutes of immersion of specimen in electrolyte, and the potential scan was begun at the point of 100mV cathodic from the corrosion potential. The scan rate was 0.17mV/sec. in the study to observe the degree of corrosion of each phase. SEI and EPMA images on the determined oxidation peaks of each amalgam were observed. The results were as follows: 1. In the four anodic polarization curves, low copper amalgams have three oxidation peaks and high copper amalgams have two oxidation peaks, -270mV, +26mV and +179mV(SEC) in the low copper lathe cut, and -300mV, +39mV and +163mV(SEC) in the low copper spherical. -4mV and +154mV(SEC) in the Dispersalloy, and +17mV and +180mV(SEC) in the Tytin as high copper amalgams. 2. ${\gamma}_2$ phase in the low copper amalgam and ${\eta}$ phase in the high copper amalgam were the most corrodible phases and Ag-Cu eutectic in high copper amalgam was the most slowly corroded phase. 3. Low copper amalgam was more susceptible in corrosion than high copper amalgam.

수중 미량 잔류항생물질 Ciprofloxacin, Trimethoprim, Enrofloxacin의 오존산화제거 (Removal of Residual Antibiotics-Ciprofloxacin, Trimethoprim and Enrofloxacin-from Water by Ozone Oxidation)

  • Oxidation of Ciprofloxacin, Trimethoprim, and Enrofloxacin by ozone was experimentally investigated to observe the effects of background water quality (such as ultrapure water, humic acid, and biologically treated wastewater) and water temperature on the removal rate of these antibiotics, and, thereby, to be able to provide design information when the ozone treatment process is adopted. Initial concentrations of the antibiotics spiked to $10{\mu}g/L$, and the ozone dose was 1, 2, 3, 5, and 8 mg/L. While the removal rate of Ciprofloxacin under ultrapure water background by ozone oxidation was over 99%, the removal rate under humic acid and biologically treated wastewater background was markedly lower, in the range of 49.3% ~ 99% and 19.8 % ~ 99 %, respectively. When water temperature is decreased from $20^{\circ}C$ to $4^{\circ}C$, the removal rate is reduced from the range of 19.8% ~ 99 % to the range of 7.5 % ~ 99 % under a biologically treated wastewater background. The effects of background and temperature on the removal rate of Trimethoprim and Enrofloxacin were similar to that of Ciprofloxacin, but the degree was different. Therefore, it is concluded that the background of water to be treated, as well as water temperature, should be taken into consideration when the design factor, such as ozone dose, is determined, so that the treatment objective of the ozone treatment process can be most effectively met.
