  • As an activity of one working group for the Good Practice program at Kumamoto University, we proposed a questionnaire survey on the degree in which students understand the uppermost points of importance in their classes in addition to the usual type of class questionnaire. Each class lists three uppermost points of importance which are essential for understanding the class content. The degree of understanding is classified into four levels: full, most, insufficient, and not at all understandings. Through the analysis of questionnaire replies, the degree of understanding for bachelor students in the Department of Engineering was discovered to be meaningfully affected by the degree of difficulty, the effectiveness of audiovisual aids, self-study time, and class attendance.

  • This study was undertaken to evaluate microbial risk degree of some processed foods in Korea. In this study the data on the outbreak of foodborne diseases during recent 18 years (1976-1989, 1993-1996. 8) were analyzed. The most frequently isolated pathogens were Salmonella (36.9%); followed vibrio (22.0%), Staphylococcus (15.7%) and Escherichia coli (13.3%). Outbreak rate of Staphylococcus, Vibrio, E. coli and Salmonella, was 33.0%, 23.5%, 17.5% and 17.1%, respectively. Overall risk degree of pathogens by fatality rate, outbreak rate and pathogen amount for foodborne outbreak was Clostridium, 5, Staphylococcus and Vibrio, 4, Salmonella and E. coli, 3. Based on foodborne pathogens, the risk degree of raw seafoods, raw eggs and processed seafoods were 4, and those of raw meats, Doshiraks and milk products were 3. Also, based on processing characteristics of foods, the risk degree of surimi-based imitation crab was 3. Foods of the highest actual risk degree were raw seafoods and raw eggs (16); followed raw meats (15), surimi-based imitation crab (12), Doshirak (9) and milk products (6).

  • Objectives: To study about cognitive degree of drinking evil of the department of nursing science students in a partial area. Methods: The data were collected by questionnaire from the 249 nursing science students. The analysis of the data was used by SAS program(ver. 9.2). Technical statistics analysis was used in general characteristics and drinking related characteristics and cognition of objects. T-test was used in cognitive degree of social evil by drinking as characteristics of objects. Logistic regression was used in factors affecting on cognitive degree of social evil by drinking. Results: Cognitive degree of social evil by drinking was low as more drinking related outlay expenses and was high as more moderation in drinking and publicity experience. Conclusions: University and the government authorities must consider the serious and importance of the problem and enforce moderation in drinking and publicity for nursing science students and develop education program and prepare the publicity material.

  • This study was performed to develop experimental model for milling degree and whiteness from analysis the CBB (colored bran balance) index using NMG dying and image processing. The endosperm layer increased and the pericarp, aleurone layer and CBB index decreased as the milling degree and whiteness increased. So, CBB index was closely linked to milling degree and whiteness. A empirical CBB index model was developed according to the milling degree and whiteness. The model were found to fit adequately to all test data with a coefficient of determination of 0.99, and therefore the CBB model proved to be quite applicable.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the recognition and satisfaction of the lower body shapes of male college students. The subjects in this study were 178 male college students. The results were as follows: 1. The degree of recognition and satisfaction of girth items in lower part of the body scored average. Subjects tended to be dissatisfied with their height. 2. The degree of satisfaction of waist girth and weight was influenced by the real body size than the degree of recognition. And abdomen girth, hip girth, ankle girth, leg length, hight, crotch length were affected by the degree of recognition than the real body size. 3. Subjects were more satisfied with standard lower body type than with lean and obese ones.

  • Objectives : This study investigated the relationship between smoking and health factors including stress resistance, stress index, fatigue and vaso-aging degree. Methods : The subjects were 19,953 persons who had received health examination by Korean Medicine and submitted questionnaires about smoking history, for 8 months from March to November in 2011. The stress index and resistance, fatigue were measured by HRV(Heart Rate Variability). The vaso-aging degree were measured by APG(Accelerated Photoplethysmograph). Results : Regarding the relationship between smoking and stress index and resistance, fatigue and vaso-aging degree were significant differences(p<0.05). Conclusions : This study suggests that smoking affects health factors including stress, fatigue and avaso-aging degree.

  • Climate change and energy security are major factors for future national energy policy. To resolve these issues, many countries are focusing on creating new growth industries and energy services such as smartgrid, renewable energy, microgrid, energy management system, and peer to peer energy trading. The financial and economic evaluation of new energy services basically requires energy savings estimation technologies. This paper presents the baseline load estimation method, which is used to calculate energy savings resulted from participating in the new energy program, using moving average model with heating degree days (HDD) and cooling degree days (CDD) adjustment. To demonstrate the improvement of baseline load estimation accuracy, the proposed method is tested. The results of case studies are presented to show the effectiveness of the proposed baseline load estimation method.

  • The purpose of this study was to study the degree of consciousness and satisfaction of body cathexis of high school girls' lower bodyshape. The subjects in this study were 296 high school girls. The results were as follows : 1. The degree of satisfactions of girth items in lower part of the body were influenced by real body size than ideal body size. But the degree of satisfaction of weight was influenced by ideal body size and height was influenced by real size body. 2. The high school girls thought ideal body shape was tall in height, long in leg, slim in girth and light in weight. Therefore, they wanted to have slimmer, longer, and lighter body size than real body size. 3. The high school girls were more satisfied with lean body type than with standard body type or with obesity body type. Therefore they wanted to be lean body type.

  • Ordering is used to reduce the amount of fill-ins in the Cholesky factor of an symmetric definite matrix. One of most efficient ordering methods is the minimum degree ordering method. In this paper. we propose the two techniques to improve the performance of the minimum degree ordering which are implemented using clique storage structure. One is node absorption which is a generalized version of clique absorption. The other technique is using the lower bounds of degree to suspend the degree updates of nodes. finally, we provide computational results on the problems on NETLIB. These results show that the proposed techniques reduce the number of degree updates and the computational time considerably.
