지속하중 재하시 보강토 옹벽의 거동특성 - 축소모형실험 (Behavior of Geosynthetic Reinforced Modular Block Walls under Sustained Loading)

  • Despite a number of advantages of reinforced earth walls over conventional concrete retaining walls, there exit concerns over long-term residual deformation when used as part of permanent structures. In view of these concerns, time-dependant deformation characteristics of geosynthetic reinforced modular block walls under sustained loads were investigated using reduced-scale model tests. The results indicated that a sustained load can yield appreciable magnitude of residual deformation, and that the magnitude of residual deformation depends on the loading characteristic as well as reinforcement stiffness.

Analysis of large deformation and fatigue life of fabric braided composite hose subjected to cyclic loading

  • The braking hose in the automotive hydraulic braking system exhibits the complicated anisotropic large deformation while its movable end is moving along the cyclic path according to the steering and bump/rebound motions of vehicle. The complicated large deformation may cause not only the interference with other adjacent automotive parts but also the durability problem resulting in the fatal microcraking. In this regard, the design of high-durable braking hose with the interference-free layout becomes a hot issue in the automotive industry. However, since it has been traditionally relied on the cost-/time-consuming trial and error experiments, the cost- and time-effective optimum design method that can replace the experiment is highly desirable. Meanwhile, the hose deformed configuration and fatigue life are different for different hose cyclic paths, so that their characteristic investigation becomes an important preliminary research subject. As a preliminary step for developing the optimum design methodology, we in this study investigate the hose deformed configuration and the fatigue life for four representative hose cyclic paths.

  • This paper concerns the structural characteristic analysis and evaluation on the hydrostatic guide way and feeding system of a high precision centerless grinder for machining ferrules. In order to realize the required accuracy of ferrules with sub-micron order, the axial stiffness and motion accuracy of feeding system have to become higher level than those of existing centerless grinders. Under these points of view, the physical prototype of feeding system consisted of steel bed, hydrostatic guide way and ballscrew feeding mechanism is designed and manufactured for trial. Experimental results show that the axial and vertical stiffnesses of the physical prototype are very low as compared with those design values. In this paper, to reveal the cause of these stiffness difference, the structural deformations on the virtual prototype of feeding system are analyzed based on the finite element method under experimental conditions. The simulated results illustrate that the deformation of front ballscrew support-bearing bracket is the main cause of reduction in the axial stiffness of feeding system, and the deflection of bed structure and the bending deformation of hydrostatic guide rails are the main causes of reduction in the vertical stiffness of feeding system.

  • This paper presents the results of an experimental study on the ground deformation by trench excavation for Diaphragm Wall construction. The model tests are performed to investigate the back ground deformation by lowering of slurry level in trench after excavating. Through these, the deformation characteristic of the back ground due to stress release of excavated space was investigated. This study considered relative density of soil mass and the distance between trench and surcharge. An experiment was performed in order to observe the failure pattern of a slurry-supported trench excavated in sandy ground. From model tests, in order to predict reasonably the deformation behavior of the adjacent ground due to the underground excavation, it is significantly recommended that the ground settlement by trench excavation should be considered.

  • This paper investigates deformation characteristics of gas pipeline using the in-plane bending experiment and finite element analysis of a pipe bend. The effect of the bending angle and internal pressure on the deformation characteristics is analyzed. The pipe bend used in this study is API 5L X65 (out diameter: 20 inch) material with the thickness of 11.9 mm. The maximum load, displacement at maximum load, angle and local strain of 90° pipe bend are obtained from the in-plane bending experiment. Comparison between FE results and experimental data shows overall good agreements. In addition, the deformation characteristics of 22.5° and 45° pipe bend are calculated using the finite element analysis. As a result, the effect of the bend angle on the deformation characteristics is discussed.

Mechanical analysis of tunnels supported by yieldable steel ribs in rheological rocks

  • Yieldable steel ribs have been widely applied in tunnels excavated in rheological rocks. For further understanding the influence of yieldable steel ribs on supporting effect, mechanical behavior of tunnels supported by them in rheological rocks is investigated in this paper. Taking into account the deformation characteristic of yieldable steel ribs, their deformation is divided into three stages. In order to modify the stiffness of yieldable steel ribs in different deformation stages, two stiffness correction factors are introduced in the latter two stages. Viscoelastic analytical solutions for the displacement and pressure in the rock-support interface in each deformation stage are obtained. The reliability of the theoretical analysis is verified by use of numerical simulation. It could be concluded that yieldable steel ribs are able to reduce pressure acting on them without becoming damaged through accommodating the rock deformation. The influence of stiffness correction factor in yielding deformation stage on pressure and displacement could be neglected with it remaining at a low level. Furthermore, there is a linearly descending relationship of pressure with yielding displacement in linear viscoelastic rocks.

한반도 남부 모호면의 변형 구조 (Deformation of Moho in the Southern Part of the Korean Peninsula)

  • 한반도 남부에서 중력과 지형 자료를 바탕으로 모호면구조와 이것의 변형을 계산하였다. 천부와 심부 지각의 중력효과를 분리하기 위해 지각 평형의 개념과 유효 탄성 두께를 이용하여 설계한 필터를 활용하였다. 모호면의 변형 구조에서 세 가지 특징을 발견하였다. 첫째, SKTL(South Korean Tectonic Line)과 나란한 모호면 습곡 구조가 발견되었는데, 이것은 영남 육괴와 경기 육괴의 충돌과 이후에도 반복된 횡압력 성분의 힘과 관련된 것으로 해석된다. 반면에 한반도에서 또 다른 대륙 충돌 경계로 알려진 임진강대를 따라서는 특별한 변형 구조가 발견되지 않았다. 둘째, 경상 분지 아래에서 모호면이 많이 상승되어 있는 것이 발견되는데, 이는 대륙 충돌에 의한 횡압력과 함께 마그마 물질의 하부점착에 의한 부력이 같이 작용한 것으로 설명할 수 있을 것이다. 셋째, 태백 산맥의 동쪽으로 모호면이 상승되고 서쪽으로는 침강된 것으로 보이는 구조가 발견되었는데, 이는 우리나라의 동고서저형 지형의 형성과 관련 있는 것으로 보이며, 동해와 울릉 분지의 열림이 그 원인으로 작용했을 것이다. 본 연구에서 계산된 모호면의 변형 구조는 지진의 분포나 GPS 측정에 의한 지각의 운동과도 부합하는 것으로 보인다. SKTL 을 경계로 횡압력이 비록 미약하나마 여전히 작용하고 있는 것으로 추정되기 때문에 모호면의 변형은 아직도 진행 중일 것이라 예상된다.

ESPI를 이용한 안경용 렌즈의 열변형 측정 (Thermal Deformation Measurement Spherical Glasses Lens Using ESPI)

  • 안경용 구면 렌즈는 굴절력에 따라 (+)디옵터와 (-)디옵터 렌즈로 구분할 수 있다. 렌즈에 가해지는 외부 열원에 의해서 생기는 열변형은 디옵터의 종류에 따라 다르게 나타난다. 본 논문에서는 빛의 가간섭성을 이용하여 물체의 변형을 비접촉으로 정확하게 측정할 수 있는 전자처리 스페클법을 이용하여 렌즈에 발생되는 열변형을 정량적으로 측정하였다. 외부 열원에 의한 온도 분포의 측정은 실시간 비접촉으로 온도를 측정할 수 있는 적외선 열화상 카메라를 사용하였다. 실험은 총 14종의 플라스틱 상용 안경 렌즈를 대상으로 수행하였다. 동일한 온도차에서 (+)디옵터 렌즈의 경우에는 디옵터의 증가에 따라서 열변형량이 증가하였다. 반면에 (-)디옵터 렌즈는 디옵터의 증가와 관계없이 열변형량이 거의 선형적이었다. 또한 동일한 디옵터에서 (+)디옵터 렌즈의 열변형량이 (-)디옵터 렌즈의 열변형량 보다 작았다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 렌즈에 열이 가해지는 경우 렌즈의 열변형량을 정량적으로 측정할 수 있음을 확인하였다.
