In the present study, a method of performing cavitation erosion test directly on the anodized surface of the rudder model is proposed, not applying ink or paint on its surface. An image processing technique is newly developed to quantitatively evaluate the erosion damages on the rudder model surface after erosion test. The preprocessing saturation image, image smoothing, adaptive hysteresis thresholding and eroded area detection algorithms are in the image processing program. The rudder cavitation erosion tests are conducted in the rudder deflection angle range of 0° to -4°, which is used to maintain a straight course at the highest speed of the targeted navy ship. In the case of the conventional flat-type full-spade rudder currently being used in the target ship, surface erosion can occur on the model rudder surface in the above rudder deflection angle range. The bubble type of cavitation occurs on rudder surface, which is estimated to be the main reason of erosion damage on the rudder surface.
This investigation deals with a size-dependent coupled thermoelasticity analysis based on Green-Naghdi (GN) theory in nano scale using a new modified nonlocal model of heat conduction, which is based on the GN theory and nonlocal Eringen theory of elasticity. In the analysis based on the proposed model, the nonlocality is taken into account in both heat conduction and elasticity. The governing equations including the equations of motion and the energy balance equation are derived using the proposed model in a nano beam resonator. An analytical solution is proposed for the problem using the Laplace transform technique and Talbot technique for inversion to time domain. It is assumed that the nano beam is subjected to sinusoidal thermal shock loading, which is applied on the one of beam ends. The transient behaviors of fields' quantities such as lateral deflection and temperature are studied in detail. Also, the effects of small scale parameter on the dynamic behaviors of lateral deflection and temperature are obtained and assessed for the problem. The proposed GN-based model, analytical solution and data are verified and also compared with reported data obtained from GN coupled thermoelasticity analysis without considering the nonlocality in heat conduction in a nano beam.

There have been developed many structural and fluid rotorcraft analysis models in rotorcraft community, and also lots of investigations have been conducted to combine these two models. These investigations turn out to be good at predicting the airloads precisely, but they have not taken the blade nonlinear deflection into account. For this reason, the present paper adopts a sophisticated structural model which can describe three-dimensional nonlinear deflection of the blade. And it is combined with two types of aerodynamic model. First one is generalized Greenberg type of finite-time aerodynamic model, which is originally established for a fixed wing, but later modified to be suitable for coupled flap-lag-torsional aeroelastic analysis of the rotor blade. Second aerodynamic model is based on the unsteady source-doublet panel method coupled with a free wake model. The advantages of the present method are capabilities to consider thickness of the blade and more precise wake effects. Transient responses of the airloads and structural deflections in time domain are mainly analyzed in this paper.
In this study a simple model is developed that predicts impact damage in a composite laminate avoiding the need of the time-consuming dynamic finite element method (FEM). The analytical model uses a non-linear approximation method (Rayleigh-Ritz) and the large deflection plate theory to predict the number of failed plies and damage area in a quasi-isotropic composite circular plate (axisymmetric problem) due to a point impact load at its centre. It is assumed that the deformation due to a static transverse load is similar to that oc curred in a low velocity impact. It is found that the model, despite its simplicity, is in good agreement with FEM predictions and experimental data for the deflection of the composite plate and gives a good estimate of the number of failed plies due to fibre breakage. The predicted damage zone could be used with a fracture mechanics model developed by the second investigator and co-workers to calculate the compression after impact strength of such laminates. This approach could save significant running time when compared to FEM solutions.
The current research deals with, stability/instability and cylindrical composite nano-scaled shell's resonance frequency filled by graphene nanoplatelets (GPLs) under various thermal conditions (linear and nonlinear thermal loadings). The piece-wise GPL-reinforced composites' material properties change through the orientation of cylindrical nano-sized shell's thickness as the temperature changes. Moreover, in order to model all layers' efficient material properties, nanomechanical model of Halpin-Tsai has been applied. A functionally modified couple stress model (FMCS) has been employed to simulate GPLRC nano-sized shell's size dependency. It is firstly investigated that reaching the relative frequency's percentage to 30% would lead to thermal buckling. The current study's originality is in considering the multifarious influences of GPLRC and thermal loading along with FMCS on GPLRC nano-scaled shell's resonance frequencies, relative frequency, dynamic deflection, and thermal buckling. Furthermore, Hamilton's principle is applied to achieve boundary conditions (BCs) and governing motion equations, while the mentioned equations are solved using an analytical approach. The outcomes reveal that a range of distributions in temperature and other mechanical and configurational characteristics have an essential contribution in GPLRC cylindrical nano-scaled shell's relative frequency change, resonance frequency, stability/instability, and dynamic deflection. The current study's outcomes are practical assumptions for materials science designing, nano-mechanical, and micromechanical systems such as micro-sized sensors and actuators.
This study is to develop the prediction model for the HIC15 in frontal vehicle crash tests. The 28 frontal impact test results of the MY2019 and MY2020 USNCAP are utilized. The metrics for evaluating the crash pulse severity such as moving average acceleration, Restraint Quotient (RQ) and ride-down efficiency are reviewed to find out whether the metrics can predict the HIC15. It is observed that the R2 values based on the linear regression of all pairs between the existing metrics and the occupant injuries such as the HIC15, 3 ms chest g's and chest deflection are very low. In this study, using the vehicle crash pulses, the linear regression model for estimating the HIC15 is developed. The vehicle crash pulse is splitted seven 10 ms intervals in 70 ms after impact for extracting the average accelerations in each intervals. The prediction model can predict effectively not only the HIC15 but also the maximum head g's, chest deflection and 3 ms chest g's of 13 vehicles out of 28 vehicles.
The purpose of this study was to analyse the deflection and stress distribution at the supporting bone and it's superstructure by the alteration of angulation between implant and it's implant abutment. For this study, the free-end saddle case of mandibular first and second molar missing would be planned to restore with fixed prosthesis. So the mandibular second premolar was prepared for abutment, and the cylinder type osseointegrated implant was placed at the site of mandibular second molar for abutment. The finite element stress analysis was applied for this study. 13 two-dimensional FEM models were created, a standard model at $0^{\circ}$ and 12 models created by changing the angulation between implant and implant abutment as increasing the angulation mesially and distally with $5^{\circ}$ unittill $30^{\circ}$. The preprocessing decording, solving and postprocessing procedures were done by using FEM analysis software PATRAN and SUN-SPARC2GX. The deflections and von Mises stresses were calculated under concentrated load (load 1) and distributed load(load 2) at the reference points. The results were as follows : 1. Observing at standard model, the amount of total deflection at the distobuccal cusp-tip of pontic under concentrated load was largest of all, and that at the apex of implant was least of all, and the amount of total deflection at the buccal cusp-tip of second premolar under distributed load was largest of all, and that at the apex of implant was least of all. 2. Increasing the angulation mesially or distally, the amounts of total deflection were increased or decreased according to the reference points. But the order according to the amount of total deflection was not changed except apex of second premolar and central fossa of implant abutment under concentrated load during distal inclination. 3. Observing at standard model, the von Mises stress at the distal joint of pontic under concentrated load was largest of all, and that at the apex of implant was least of all. The von Mises stress at the distal margin of second premolar under distributed load was largest of all, and that at the apex of Implant was least of ail. 4. Increasing the angulation of implant mesially, the von Mises stresses at the mesial crest of implant were increased under concentrated load and distributed load, but those were increased remarkably under distributed load and so that at $30^{\circ}$ mesial inclination was largest of all. 5. Increasing the angulation of implant distally, the von Mises stresses at the distal crest of implant were increased remarkably under concentrated load and distributed load, and so those at $30^{\circ}$ distal inclination were largest of all.

The model-free control of aeroelastic vibrations of a non-linear 2-D wing-flap system operating in supersonic flight speed regimes is discussed in this paper. A novel continuous robust controller design yields asymptotically stable vibration suppression in both the pitching and plunging degrees of freedom using the flap deflection as a control input. The controller also ensures that all system states remain bounded at all times during closed-loop operation. A Lyapunov method is used to obtain the global asymptotic stability result. The unsteady aerodynamic load is considered by resourcing to the non-linear Piston Theory Aerodynamics (PTA) modified to account for the effect of the flap deflection. Simulation results demonstrate the performance of the robust control strategy in suppressing dynamic aeroelastic instabilities, such as non-linear flutter and limit cycle oscillations.
This study is to investigate the properties on the load-deflection and fracture behaviors of the steel fiber reinforced concrete(SFRC) slab model specimens, Steel fibers of indent, crimp, and end hook shape were considered to reinforce the matrix under various mixing conditions and proportions. Initial cracking load, maximum load, and energy absorption capacity(load carrying capacity) of SFRC panel specimen increased with increase of steel fiber contents. And the plain concrete slab was fractured abruptly after maximum load but SRFC slabs were fractured smoothly by steel fibers in concrete matrix operated as cracking resistance force after maximum load. Indent, crimp and end hook shape steel fibers were effective in reinforcing the matrices but end hook type fiber were superior to indent and crimp type fibers.
