  • This experiment was conducted to establish the cultural method of triticale(Triticum Secalotriticum Saratoviense Meister) as a whole crop silage by evaluating the effect of seeding date and nitrogen fertilization rate on forage yields and feeding value. Heading date, flowering date, and the dough stage of development came significantly earlier as triticale was seeded earlier. Soilage, dry matter yields and percent dry matter significantly varied with seeding dates and crude ash, NFE and TDN. However, TDN yield was significantly reduced by delayed seeding. Macromineral contents were not affected by seeding date. Soilage, dry matter yield, and percent dry matter significantly increased as nitrogen fertilization rate increased. The contents of crude protein, crude fat, crude ash, NFE, TDN and TDN yield also significantly increased. In contrast, crude fiber content of triticale decreased with increasing N fertilization rate.

  • This paper is concerned with an n jobs one machine Job shop scheduling problems in which all jobs have a common due date and unequal penalties occur when a job is completed before or after due date. The objective is to determine an optimal sequence and the corresponding common due date that yield the global minimum value of a penalty function Then a sequence that minimize the penalty function globally is a V-shaped sequence Using the idea of linear equations and a LGP(Linear Goal Programming), this paper shows that LGP and MAD(Mean Absolute Deviation) are equivalent problems. Therefore an efficient algorithm that is developed for MAD problem holds for LGP problem and vice-versa. A numerical example to account for the algorithm is provided.

  • Under the conditions of the least inputs such as no-chemical fertilizer, no-chemical insecticide, and no-weeding, this experiment was carried out to examine the effect of mixed-seeding date on growth of hairy vetch and radish, and on the status of weed occurrence. Radish was severely damaged by insects during the whole growth period. Many summer annual weeds emerged and grew vigorously when the seeding date was August 14, but rarely emerged when the seeding date was August 28. Most growth parameters of hairy vetch and radish were higher when the seeding date was August 14, compared to those of the seeding dates of August 21 and August 28. For the mixed seeding of hairy vetch and radish under the conditions of the least inputs, the seeding date during the middle of August could be recommended.

  • In the first of two experiments, chemical composition (Ash, CP and CF contents), nutritive value (in vitro organic matter disappearance "lVOMD" and energy content "ME") and nitrogen retention of chopped date fronds (CDF) as affected by chemical treatment (CT) and storage duration (SD) were investigated. The experimental design was a completely randomized block, arranged in a $3{\times}4$ factorial, with 3 (CT) and 4 (SD) as the main factors using 2 replications / treatment. Three chemical treatments, were used : Control (With zero or no chemical treatment); treatment with 4% urea solution (w /w) and treatment with 4% urea + Date syrup extract (DS). The 4 (SD) were: Control (immediately after opening - without any storage or zero time storage); one month storage period; two months storage period and three months storage period. Both (CT) and (SD) had significant effects (p < 0.05) on CP and ash contents of the CDF, however there were no significant effects (p > 0.05) due to (CT) and (SD) on CF and nutritive value. High retention value (> 80%) for nitrogen was reported for the treated CDF, immediately after opening the incubated material (zero SD). However, nitrogen retention decreased with increasing (SD) to 67% after one month (SD) but tended to stay at a fairly constant level of 67% until 3 months of storage. In experiment 2, the feeding value of treated CDF was evaluated in comparison to Rhodes grass hay, using growing goats and sheep. A $4{\times}2$ factorial design was used (Four roughage sources were used : Rhodes grass hay, untreated CDF, urea-treated CDF and CDF treated with urea + DS with sheep and goats as two animal species, using three animals / treatment). Untreated CDF had a similar feeding value to Rhodes grass hay. However treatment of CDF with urea alone or with urea + DS depressed animal performance of both goats and sheep, apparently due to depression of feed intake (appetite). Feeding untreated CDF decreased feeding cost by 29% and cost/kg gain by 23%. CDF showed a good potential as a cheap local roughage and emergency feed for ruminants in the Sultanate.

  • Objective: The benefits of screening and early detection of breast cancer, including reduced morbidity and mortality, have been well-reported in the literature. In 2011, a breast cancer screening program was launched in Meknes-Tafilalt region of Morocco. The aim of this study was to evaluate the early performance indicators of this program. Materials and Methods: This retrospective evaluative study was conducted between April 2012 and December 2014, in Meknes-Tafilalt region of Morocco. Several performance indicators of the breast cancer screening program were calculated: the compliance rate, the positivity rate, the referral rate, the cancer detection rate and the organizational indicators. Results: During 2012-2014, a total of 184,951 women participated in the breast cancer screening program. The compliance rate was 26%, the positive rate was 3.3%, the referral rate was 36.7%, and the cancer detection rate was 1.2 per 1,000 women. The median time between the date of clinical breast examination and the date of biopsy (or cyto-puncture) was 36 days. The median time between the date of positive mammography and the date of biopsy (or cyto-puncture) was 6 days. The median time between the date of clinical breast examination and the date of the first received treatment was 61 days. Conclusions: The program needs better monitoring, as well as implementation of quality assurance tools to improve performance in our country.

  • This study was carried out to investigate the effects of climatic conditions on the budding of buds and the growth of shoots of mulberry (Morus alba L.) at Suwon for the period of six years from 1978 to 1983. The results are summarized as follows. 1. The period that influenced most greatly on mulberry budding and foliating of it's buds was from late part of March to middle part of April in the district of Suwon, Korea. 2. Temperatures in soil 20cm deep during the period from late part of March to middle part of April had high correlations with budding dates. 3. It was disclosed that the budding date had high correlations with the date of bud shaped swallow-bill (r=0.9861**), date of the third leaf(r=0.97**), and date of the fifth leaf(r=0.96**), respectively. 4. The higher the average temperature of April became, the longer the length of shoots became. 5. The earlier the budding date and foliating date came, the larger the leaf yield became. However, with excessive amount of precipitation after early budding and foliating, the leaf yield was not increased in proportional. 6. The longer the growing period of the shoots became, the larger the leaf yield became.

  • Chrysanthemum indicum L. (Gamgug) has been examined to study their flowering habits, yields and bioactive compounds under different planting densities and mowing dates. The planting density experiment revealed a significantly increasing stem diameter, number of flowers and branches with decreasing plant density in the $100\;cm{\times}30\;cm$ and $130\;cm{\times}30\;cm$ treatments as compared to $70\;cm{\times}30\;cm$ treatments, but not plant height, leaf and flower width. On the other hand, the mowing date experiment showed that growth characteristics of plants were similar to the control plants (not mowing) and June 20 treatment, but July 20 treatments had significantly smaller than the control. The weights (g $plant^{-1}$) of dry flowers were affected by the planting density and mowing date. The flower yield of $586\;kg\;ha^{-1}$ obtained at $100\;cm{\times}30\;cm$ density was 11% and 22% higher than that of $120\;cm{\times}30\;cm$ and $70\;cm{\times}30\;cm$ treatments, respectively. The yield of dry flowers in the control and June 20 mowing date ranged $495-508\;kg\;ha^{-1}$, which is 40-42% higher than the yield in the July 20 treatments. The amount of essential oil (g $plant^{-1}$) in medically valuable flowerheads of C. indicum L. was statistically different between mowing dates but not among planting densities. The study showed that planting density and the mowing date could increase yields of flowerheads. An optimum planting density of $100\;cm{\times}30\;cm$ and mowing date of on or before June 20 is recommended for C. indicum L.

  • To determine optimal sowing date of Job's Tears in southern-Region of Korea,Job's Tears cv. Local cultivars Ewon and Heuksuk were grown under the three different sowing dates. As sowing date was delayed, the heading and maturing date were delayed also and yield components such as plant height, stem diameter, number of stems, weight of 100grains and that of 1 l, etc. were the highest at the sowing date of Apr. 15. Yield of stem and seed were the heaviest in Apr. 15 seeding and they were light in the early or late sowing, Judging from the results reported above, optimum seeding date of Job's Tears seemed to be Apr. 15.
