This paper deals with Object-oriented Database(OODB) which is designed for power system analysis, and describes load flow analysis using OODB. Database management systems are widely used and achieve high reliability of data management in the engineering fields. However conventional database systems, relational database system, have disadvantages in application to power system analysis. This paper presents advantages of OODB for modeling complex data of a power system analysis. The OODB supports data modeling requirements of GUI applications and the performance is well acceptable for GUI applications.

Measurements of the isotopic contents of spent nuclear fuel provide experimental data that are a prerequisite for validating computer codes and nuclear data for many spent fuel applications. Under the auspices of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) Nuclear Energy Agency (NEA) and guidance of the Expert Group on Assay Data of Spent Nuclear Fuel of the NEA Working Party on Nuclear Criticality Safety, a new database of expanded spent fuel isotopic compositions has been compiled. The database, Spent Fuel Compositions (SFCOMPO) 2.0, includes measured data for more than 750 fuel samples acquired from 44 different reactors and representing eight different reactor technologies. Measurements for more than 90 isotopes are included. This new database provides data essential for establishing the reliability of code systems for inventory predictions, but it also has broader potential application to nuclear data evaluation. The database, together with adjoint based sensitivity and uncertainty tools for transmutation systems developed to quantify the importance of nuclear data on nuclide concentrations, are described.

In this paper, we construct rough relational database model using approximation concepts of rough set. Also, we analyze the relation between objects, attributes and attribute values and, propose the method that can generate flexible retrieval results.

To transmit users' intentions that vary with each person, intuitive and hi-directional interactions between users and a computer are necessary. We considered these interactions by dividing them into two spaces, physical space and informational space. Informational space supports human thinking process by arranging and visualizing much information. Physical space reproduces the real world where various restrictions exist to virtual space. From the viewpoint of three aspects - contents model, kansei model and context model - we defined the style of the interaction between user and multimedia database. In this paper, for the purpose of examining the way to realize the interaction based on these models, we developed interior design coordination support system and garden coordination system, and then evaluated them.

Group collaborative systems are recently emerging to support a group of users engaged in common tasks such as group decision making, engineering design, or collaborative writing. Simultaneously, as communications networks and distributed database systems become core underlying architecture of the organization, the need of collaborative systems are gaining more attentions from industry. In such collaborative systems, as the shared objects may evolve constantly or change for operational purposes, providing the users with synchronized and consistent views of the shared object and maintaining the consistency between shared object and replicated objects are important to improve the overall productivity. This paper provides an change management framework for the group collaborative systems to facilitate managing dependency relationships between shared objects and dependents, and coordinating change and propagation activities in distributed computing environments. Specifically, the framework adopts an object-oriented database paradigm and presents several object constructs capturing dependency management and change notification mechanisms. And the proposed framework accommodates both persistent dependents such as replicated data and transient dependents such as various user views in a single formalism. A prototype system is developed on a commercial object-oriented database management system called OBJECTSTORE using the C++ programming language.

Strategic information systems planning (SISP) remains a critical issue of many organizations and also the top IS concern of chief executives. Therefore, researchers have investigated SISP practices and tried to improve a methodology. Among the various issues of SISP, systematically determining subject database groupings and fully automating the processes are important aspects. This study presents an alternate methodology using a statistical technique, a variable clustering approach, and systematic rules for determining database groupings, which can be fully automated. This methodology provides a strong theoritical justification as well as systematic and simple criteria for database groupings, enhanced interpretability of the output, and would be easy to include in CASE software application.

The introduction of client server systems raises some serious IS control concerns. Although client server systems increase system flexibility and compatibility, and facilitates system downsizing and process restructuring, multiple operating systems, database management systems, and platforms of client-server system increase th potential exposures and risks of the system. It is needed to recommend the effective control framework to mitigate risks. This paper suggests risks and control framework for client server system. The results of two case studies indicate that program and database management are important as program and data should be located and maintained in client and servers. It becomes difficult to manage divided programs and data logic that are distributed across clients and servers that have different platforms. The case studies of two banks show that the extent of distribution of program and data logic affects the importance of program and database management controls.

전자 상거래에서 이용되는 전자카탈로그 정보는 다양한 이유에 의해서 중복 저장되기도 하는데, 이는 멀티데이터베이스 시스템에서의 글로벌 트랜잭션 보장 문제를 야기한다. 본 논문에서는 하나의 시스템에서만 카탈로그의 변경이 발생하고 변경 정보가 전파되는 특별한 상황에서의 동기화 문제 해결을 위한 로그 작성 및 관리 방법을 제안한다. 이를 만족하여 구현된 동기화 모듈은 지연된 동기화를 보장함을 보이고, 실제 환경에서 구현된 예를 통해서 제안한 방법이 유용함을 보인다.

For the systems engineering process-based development, all requirements of 'Smart UAV Development Program' have been constructed as the database of CORE(R), computer aided systems engineering tool. In this paper, the construction and application of model-based test & evaluation system using those database is described, which prevents omitting essential tests and performing unnecessary rests and enables automatic reflection of database changes and standardization of document formats.
