  • Pattern matching is increasingly being employed in various researches as health care service, RFID-based system, facility management, and surveillance. Geosensor filter correlates a data stream to match specific patterns in distribution environments. In this paper, we present a geosensor query language to represent efficiently declarative geosensor query. Geosensor operators are proposed to use for fast query processing in terms of spatial and temporal area in distribution environments. We also propose a geosensor filter to match new query predicates into incoming stream predicates. Our filter can reduce the volume of transmission data and save power consumption of sensors. It can be utilized the stream data mining system to process in real-time various data as location, time, and geosensor information in distribution environments.

  • In this study, RMA2 and RMA4, the 2-D depth-averaged models, were employed to simulate the two-dimensional mixing characteristics of the pollutants in the natural streams. The velocity and depth were first calculated using RMA2, 2-D hydrodynamic model, and then the resulting flow field was inputted to RMA4, 2-D water quality model, to compute the concentration field. RMA models were verified using the velocity and concentration data measured in S-curved meandering channel. The results showed that the RMA2 model simulated well the phenomenon that the maximum velocity line is located at the Inner bank of meandering channel, and the RMA4 model was well adapted to reproduce the general mixing behavior and the separation of tracer clouds. Comparing model simulations with measured data in the field experiments, RMA2 model simulated well general flow field and tendency that the maximum velocity line skewed toward the outer bank which were found in field experiments. The simulations of RMA4 model showed that the center of the tracer cloud tends to follow the path in which the maximum velocity occurs. In this study, the dispersion coefficients are fine-tuned based on the measured coefficients calculated using field concentration data, and the results show reasonable agreement with predictive equations.

  • Different from the main land of South Korea, Jeju Island has been in difficulties for measuring discharge. Due to high infiltration rate, most of streams in Jeju Island are usually in the dried state except six streams with the steady base flow, and the unique geological characteristics such as steep slope and short traveling distance of runoff have forced rainfall runoff usually to occur during very short period of time like one or two days. While discharge observations in Jeju Island have been conducted only for 16 sites with fixed electromagnetic surface velocimetry, effective analysis and validation of observed discharge data and operation of the monitoring sites still have been limited due to very few professions to maintain such jobs. This research is sponsored by Ministry of Land, Transport and Maritime Affairs to build water cycle monitoring and management system of Jeju Island. Specifically, the research focuses on optimizing discharge measurement techniques adjusted for Jeju Island, expanding the monitoring sites, and validating the existing discharge data. First of all, we attempted to conduct discharge measurements in streams with steady base flow, by utilizing various recent discharge monitoring techniques, such as ADCP, LSPIV, Magnetic Velocimetry, and Electromagnetic Wave Surface Velocimetry. ADCP has been known to be the most accurate in terms of discharge measurement compared with other techniques, thus that the discharge measurement taken by ADCP could be used as a benchmark data for validation of others. However, there are still concerns of using ADCP in flood seasons; thereby LSPIV would be able to be applied for replacing ADCP in such flooded situation in the stream. In addition, sort of practical approaches such as Magnetic Velocimetry, and Electromagnetic Wave Surface Velocimetry would also be validated, which usually measure velocity in the designated parts of stream and assume the measured velocity to be representative for whole cross-section or profile at any specified location. The result of the comparison and analysis will be used for correcting existing discharge measurement by Electromagnetic Wave Surface Velocimetry and finding the most optimized discharge techniques in the future.

  • In digital broadcasting, applications are computer programs executed by the set-top box(TV receiver) , and synchronized applications are those that perform tasks at the specified moments in the underlying video. This paper describes important concepts, standards, and skills needed to implement synchronized applications and explains how to integrate them to implement these applications. This Paper assumes the European data broadcasting standard, DVB-MHP. In DVB-MHP, scheduled stream events are recommended as a means of synchronizing applications with video streams. In this method, the application receives each stream event, and executes the action associated with the stream event at the time specified in the stream event. Commercially available stream generators, i.e., multiplexers, do not generate transport streams that support scheduled stream events. So we used a stream generator implemented in our lab. We implemented a synchronized application where the actions triggered by stream events are to display graphic images. We found that our synchronized application processes scheduled stream events successfully. In our experimentation, the stream events were synchronized with the video and the deviation from the intended time was within 240 ㎳, which is a tolerance for synchronization skew between graphic images and video.

  • The completely mixed flow and plug flow (CAP) water quality model was developed for streams with discontinuous flows, a condition that often occurs in low base flow streams with in-stream hydraulic structures, especially during dry seasons. To consider the distinct physical properties of each reach effectively, the CAP model stream network can include both plug flow (PF) segments and completely mixed flow (CMF) segments. Many existing water quality models are capable of simulating various constituents and their interactions in surface water bodies. More complicated models do not necessarily produce more accurate results because of problems in data availability and uncertainties. Due to the complicated and even random nature of environmental forcing functions, it is not possible to construct an ideal model for every situation. Therefore, at present, many governmental level water quality standards and decisions are still based on lumped constituents, such as the carbonaceous biochemical oxygen demand (CBOD), the total nitrogen (TN) or the total phosphorus (TP). In these cases, a model dedicated to predicting the target concentration based on available data may provide as equally accurate results as a general purpose model. The CAP model assumes that its water quality constituents are independent of each other and thus can be applied for any constituent in waters that follow first order reaction kinetics. The CAP model was applied to the Geum River in Korea and tested for CBOD, TN, and TP concentrations. A trial and error method was used for parameter calibration using the field data. The results agreed well with QUAL2EU model predictions.

  • This study aims to derivate of the relationship and rating curve for the flow discharge-total sediment using the measured field data from the main points of small-medium stream reaches in agrarian basin. The total sediment of measured data are obtained by bed load added to suspended load which analyzed using the particle size distribution curve of sieve test and the dry or the filtration method from the collected samples by samplers (DH-48, D-74 and BLH-84, BL-84) at the stream bed and the depth-averaged concentration, respectively. These field data had been collected from August 2012 to September 2014 at the seven measuring stations of the national-local channel reaches of the four study streams in the Nonsan river systems of agrarian basin. As a result, the relationships and the rating curve for the flow discharge-total sediment are derived as a function pattern of power law by analyzing on a distribution characteristic of the database set and it will be used as a useful tool to analyze erosion, deposition, and transportation in theoretical research as well as in practical application of the hydraulic sedimentation engineering.

  • Recently the technological advance in the hardware dealing with multimedia data as well as the explosive increase of the volume of multimedia data bring about new interest in the use of multimedia presentations in many application domains. To use multimedia presentations efficiently, the integration of multimedia presentations into DBMS is necessary. This paper presents a multimedia presentatation query language based on contents and query processing techniques. Presently, multimedia presentation authoring tools denote a multimedia presentation using a presentation graph which is a DAG. A Node in the graph is a same type of media stream and edges denote a play-out order and a synchronization way among nodes. The contents of presentations graphs are the information of each stream, the sequential order of the information inside each stream and the play-out order among the streams. GCalculus/S is a calculus-based query language and can deal with the contents of a presentation graph and physical characteristics of multimedia data. It expresses the sequential order of information inside each stream and the play-out order of streams of a presentation graph using temporal operators Next, Connected and Until. O-Algebra, which is object algebra, is extended to process GCalculus/S queries.

  • Existing approaches that select an order for the join of three or more data streams have always used the simple heuristics. For their disadvantage - only one factor is considered and that is join selectivity or arrival rate, these methods lead to poor performance and inefficiency In some applications. The graph-based sliding window multi -join algorithm with optimal join sequence is proposed in this paper. In this method, sliding window join graph is set up primarily, in which a vertex represents a join operator and an edge indicates the join relationship among sliding windows, also the vertex weight and the edge weight represent the cost of join and the reciprocity of join operators respectively. Then the optimal join order can be found in the graph by using improved MVP algorithm. The final result can be produced by executing the join plan with the nested loop join procedure, The advantages of our algorithm are proved by the performance comparison with existing join algorithms.

  • Since 1985, the Gangwon Institute of Health and Environment(GIHE) and Ministry of Environment have collected rivers and streams water quality data in an ambient surface water monitering program. This study was prepared to propose an achievement of water quality of rivers subject to management by area according to an created level while establishing a water quality level applicable to the Gangwon area. As a result of evaluating correlativity on the BOD-based water quality data, BOD versus TP, and TP versus SS demonstrated significance at a confidence level of 95%. Evaluating correlativity on $10{\sim}90$ percentile values of analyzed data, a coefficient of determination, $r^{2}$ of BOD versus TP, and TP versus SS were 0.625, 0.286 respectively. Grading the results by evaluation method, the representative values of TP were 0.030 mg/l for I level, 0.100 mg/l for II level, 0.200 mg/l for Ill level, 0.300 mg/l for IV level, and 0.350 mg/l for V level, and those of SS were indicated 4.0 mg/l for I level, 15.0 mg/l for II level, 30.0 mg/l for III level, 45.0 mg/l for IV level, and 60.0 mg/l for V level. As for the limiting factor allowing the water quality standard exceeded, BOD posted 61% as the factor was found in 11 places, TP 28%, and SS 33%.

  • Recently, with the development of network technologies, as IoT and social network service applications have been actively used, a lot of graph stream data is being generated. In this paper, we propose a graph compression scheme that considers the stream graph environment by applying graph mining to the existing compression technique, which has been focused on compression rate and runtime. In this paper, we proposed Incremental frequent pattern based compression technique for graph streams. Since the proposed scheme keeps only the latest reference patterns, it increases the storage utilization and improves the query processing time. In order to show the superiority of the proposed scheme, various performance evaluations are performed in terms of compression rate and processing time compared to the existing method. The proposed scheme is faster than existing similar scheme when the number of duplicated data is large.
