Divisive hierarchical clustering algorithms iterate the process of decomposition and clustering data recursively. In each recursive call, data in each cluster are arbitrarily selected and thus, the total clustering time can be increased, which causes a problem that it is difficult to apply the process of clustering neighbor vehicular position data in vehicular localization. In this paper, we propose a new heuristic algorithm for speeding up the clustering time by eliminating randomness of the selected data in the process of generating the initial divisive clusters.
We cluster the electricity consumption of households in A-apartment in Seoul, Korea using Hierarchical K-means clustering algorithm. The data is recorded from the advanced metering infrastructure (AMI), and we focus on the electricity consumption during evening weekdays in summer. Compare to the conventional clustering algorithms, Hierarchical K-means clustering algorithm is recently applied to the electricity usage data, and it can identify usage patterns while reducing dimension. We apply Hierarchical K-means algorithm to the AMI data, and compare the results based on the various clustering validity indexes. The results show that the electricity usage patterns are well-identified, and it is expected to be utilized as a major basis for future applications in various fields.
The aim of this study is to propose a tree-structured clustering for mixed data. We suggest a scaling method to reduce the variable selection bias among categorical variables. In numerical examples such as credit data, German credit data, we note several differences between tree-structured clustering and K-means clustering.

Many types of sensor data exhibit strong correlation in both space and time. Both temporal and spatial suppressions provide opportunities for reducing the energy cost of sensor data collection. Unfortunately, existing clustering algorithms are difficult to utilize the spatial or temporal opportunities, because they just organize clusters based on the distribution of sensor nodes or the network topology but not on the correlation of sensor data. In this paper, we propose a novel clustering algorithm based on the correlation of sensor data. We modify the advertisement sub-phase and TDMA schedule scheme to organize clusters by adjacent sensor nodes which have similar readings. Also, we propose a spatio-temporal suppression scheme for our clustering algorithm. In order to show the superiority of our clustering algorithm, we compare it with the existing suppression algorithms in terms of the lifetime of the sensor network and the size of data which have been collected in the base station. As a result, our experimental results show that the size of data is reduced and the whole network lifetime is prolonged.
The wide application of various integrated location-based services (LBS social) and tourism application (app) has generated a large amount of trajectory space data. The trajectory data are used to identify popular tourist attractions with high density of tourists, and they are of great significance to smart service and emergency management of scenic spots. A hot spot analysis method is proposed, based on spatial clustering of trajectory stop points. The DBSCAN algorithm is studied with fast clustering speed, noise processing and clustering of arbitrary shapes in space. The shortage of parameters is manually selected, and an improved method is proposed to adaptively determine parameters based on statistical distribution characteristics of data. DBSCAN clustering analysis and contrast experiments are carried out for three different datasets of artificial synthetic two-dimensional dataset, four-dimensional Iris real dataset and scenic track retention point. The experiment results show that the method can automatically generate reasonable clustering division, and it is superior to traditional algorithms such as DBSCAN and k-means. Finally, based on the spatial clustering results of the trajectory stay points, the Getis-Ord Gi* hotspot analysis and mapping are conducted in ArcGIS software. The hot spots of different tourist attractions are classified according to the analysis results, and the distribution of popular scenic spots is determined with the actual heat of the scenic spots.
We propose a Bayesian model-based approach using a mixture of Dirichlet processes model with discrete wavelet transform, for curve clustering in the microarray data with time-course gene expressions.
Using 1991 FDIC financial statement data, we develop fuzzy clusters of the data set. We also identify the distinctive characteristics of the fuzzy clustering algorithm and compare the closest hard-partitioning result of the fuzzy clustering algorithm with the outcomes of two self-organizing neural networks. When nine clusters are used, our analysis shows that the fuzzy clustering method distinctly groups failed and extreme performance banks from control (healthy) banks. The experimental results also show that the fuzzy clustering method and the self-organizing neural networks are promising tools in identifying potentially failing banks.
FCM (Fuzzy C-Means) clustering algorithm, a typical split-based clustering algorithm, has been successfully applied to the various fields. Nonetheless, the FCM clustering algorithm has some problems, such as high sensitivity to noise and local data, the different clustering result from the intuitive grasp, and the setting of initial round and the number of clusters. To address these problems, in this paper, we determine fuzzy numbers which project the FCM clustering result on the axis with the specific attribute. And we propose a model that the fuzzy numbers apply to FDT (Fuzzy Decision Tree). This model improves the two problems of FCM clustering algorithm such as elevated sensitivity to data, and the difference of the clustering result from the intuitional decision. And also, this paper compares the effect of the proposed model and the result of FCM clustering algorithm through the experiment using real traffic and rainfall data. The experimental results indicate that the proposed model provides more reliable results by the sensitivity relief for data. And we can see that it has improved on the concordance of FCM clustering result with the intuitive expectation.

The position of a light buoy is always flexible due to the influence of external forces such as tides and wind. The position can be checked through AIS (Automatic Identification System) or RTU (Remote Terminal Unit) for AtoN. As a result of analyzing the position data for the last five years (2017-2021) of a light buoy, the average position error was 15.4%. It is necessary to detect position error data and obtain refined position data to prevent navigation safety accidents and management. This study aimed to detect position error data and obtain refined position data by DBSCAN Clustering position data obtained through AIS or RTU for AtoN. For this purpose, 21 position data of Gunsan Port No. 1 light buoy where RTU was installed among western waters with the most position errors were DBSCAN clustered using Python library. The minPts required for DBSCAN Clustering applied the value commonly used for two-dimensional data. Epsilon was calculated and its value was applied using the k-NN (nearest neighbor) algorithm. As a result of DBSCAN Clustering, position error data that did not satisfy minPts and epsilon were detected and refined position data were acquired. This study can be used as asic data for obtaining reliable position data of a light buoy installed with AIS or RTU for AtoN. It is expected to be of great help in preventing navigation safety accidents.

Cluster analysis has been widely used in many applications, such as pattern analysis or recognition, data analysis, image processing, market research on on-line or off-line and so on. Clustering can identify dense and sparse regions among data attributes or object attributes. But it requires many hours to get clusters that we want, because clustering is more primitive, explorative and we make many data an object of cluster analysis. In this paper we propose a new method of clustering using sample based on grid. It is more fast than any traditional clustering method and maintains its accuracy.
