Through dark injection space-charge-limited current (DI-SCLC) and trap-free SCLC measurements, it has been demonstrated that an indium tin oxide (ITO)/buckminsterfullerene ($C_{60}$) electrode can form a quasi-Ohmic contact with N, N'-bis (naphthalen-1-yl)-N, N'-bis(phenyl) benzidine (NPB). The DI-SCLC results show a clear peak current along with a shift of the peak position as the field intensity varies, implying an Ohmic (or quasi-Ohmic) contact. A theoretical simulation of the SCLC also shows that ITO/$C_{60}$ forms an Ohmic contact with NPB. The Ohmic contact makes it possible to estimate the NPB hole mobility through the use of both DI-SCLC and trap-free SCLC analysis. This also contributes to a reduction in power consumption.

A cause and counterplan of the increase in dark decay rate of$\varepsilon$-CuPc/PVCz photoreceptor which is consist of the carrier generation layer (CGL) of$\varepsilon$type copper phthalocyanine ($\varepsilon$-CuPc) thin film by an aqueous coating method and the carrier transport layer (CTL) of polyvinylcarbazol (PVCz) by spin coating, are studied in this paper. Electrochemical deposition of CGL was accompanied by an increase in work function of the aluminium substrate during the processes and the enhanced work function 5.3 eV rose above the ionization potential 5.16 eV of $\varepsilon$-CuPc. This resulted in the increased injection of holes from substrate into CGL and a fast dark decay rate. Improved photoreceptor, an electron-transport $\varepsilon$-CuPc/TNF photoreceptor, led to lowing of dark decay rate and increasing of photosensitivity. The carrier generation efficiency (ηg), carrier injection efficiency (ηi) and xerographic gain (G) of the $\varepsilon$-CuPc/TNF photoreceptor were obtained by XTOF method and PIDC.

Due to their better photosensitivity in X-ray, the amorphous selenium based photoreceptor is widely used on the X-ray conversion materials. It was possible to control the charge carrier transport of amorphous selenium by suitably alloying a-Se with other elements(e,g. As, Cl). The charge transport properties of amorphous Selenium is decided on hole which is induced from metal to selenium in metal-selenium junction and which is transferred in a-Se bulk. This phenomenon is resulted of changing electric field owing to increasing of space charge by deep trap of a-Se bulk. In this paper, We dopped the chlorine to compensate deep hole trap and deposited blocking layer using dielectric material to prevent from increasing space charge for injection charge between metal electrode and a-Se layer. We compared space charge and the decreasing of trap density through measuring dark and photo current.

Low dark current (off-current) and high photo current are both essential for a solution processed organic photodetector (OPD) to achieve high photo-responsivity. Currently, most OPDs utilize a bulk heterojunction (BHJ) photo-active layer that is prepared by the one-step deposition of a polymer:fullerene blend solution. However, the BHJ structure is the main cause of the high dark current in solution processed OPDs. It is revealed that the detectivity and spectral responsivity of the OPD can be improved by utilizing a photo-active layer consisting of an interdiffused polymer/fullerene bilayer (ID-BL). This ID-BL is prepared by the sequential solution deposition (SqD) of poly(3-hexylthiophene) (P3HT) and [6,6] phenyl C61 butyric acid methyl ester (PCBM) solutions. The ID-BL OPD is found to prevent undesirable electron injection from the hole collecting electrode to the ID-BL photo-active layer resulting in a reduced dark current in the ID-BL OPD. Based on dark current and external quantum efficiency (EQE) analysis, the detectivity of the ID-BL OPD is determined to be $7.60{\times}1011$ Jones at 620 nm. This value is 3.4 times higher than that of BHJ OPDs. Furthermore, compared to BHJ OPDs, the ID-BL OPD exhibited a more consistent spectral response in the range of 400 - 660 nm.

We investigate the junction between CdZnTe and a variety of metals with the aim of determining whether the choice of metal can improve the performance of X-ray image detectors, in particular minimizing the dark current. The samples consist of $5{\mu}m$ thick CdZnTe with top electrodes formed from In, Al, and Au. For each metal, current transients following application of valtages from -10V to 10V are measured for up to 1 hour. We find that dark currents depending on the metal used. The current is controlled by hole injection at the metal-CdZnTe junction and there is consistent trend with the metal's work function possibly and it seems that metal to CdZnTe layer junction is ohmic contact.

We studied the nonequilibrium superconductivity due to tunnel injection of polaronic quasiparticle (QP) from organic photoconductor. The transport properties of an organic copper (II) phthalocyanine (Cu -Pc)/d-wave superconductor were investigated in dark and under ultraviolet (UV) radiation for performance of a novel $high -T_{c}$ superconducting three terminal device. We observed that the injection of polaronic QP from the organic Cu -Pc film into the $Bi_2$S $r_2$$CaCuO_{8+{\delta}}$ film generated a substantially larger nonequilibrium effect as compared to the normal QP injection current. We could increase the current gain by UV excitation of the organic photoconductor injector. The tunneling spectroscopy of a Cu -Pc/BSCCO junction exhibited a small enhancement of the zero bias conductance peak under the W excitation. The above phenomena are of importance in developing optically controlled three terminal superconducting device.e.
Statement of Problem: The residual monomer of denture base materials causes hypersensitivity on oral mucosa and intereferes with the mechanical properties of the cured resin. The amount of residual monomer is influenced by materials, curing cycle, processing method, and etc. Purpose: The aim of this study was to investigate the residual methyl methacrylate(MMA) content of injection molded denture base polymer, and to compare this with the self-cured resin and the conventional compression molded heat-cured resin. Materials and Methods: Disc shaped test specimens (50mm in diameter and 3mm thick) were prepared in a conventional flasking technique with gypsum molding. One autopolymerized denture base resins (Vertex Sc. Dentimex. Netherlands) and two heat-cured denture base resins (Vertex RS. Dentimex. Netherlands, Ivocap. Ivoclar Vivadent, USA) were used. The three types of specimens were processed according to the manufacturer's instruction. After polymerization, all specimens were stored in the dark at room temperature for 7 days. There were 10 specimens in each of the test groups. 3-mm twist drills were used to obtain the resin samples and 650mg of the drilled sample were collected for each estimation. Gas chromatography (Agillent 6890 Plus Gas Chromatograph, Agillent Co, USA) was used to determine the residual MMA content of 10 test specimens of each three types of polymer. Results: The residual monomer content of injection molded denture base resins was $1.057{\pm}0.141%$. The residual monomer content of injection molded denture base resins was higher than that of compression molded heat cured resin ($0.867{\pm}0.169%$). However, there was no statistical significant difference between two groups (p>0.01). The level of residual monomer in self cured resin($3.675{\pm}0.791$) was higher than those of injection molded and compression molded heat cured resins (p<0.01). Conclusion: With respect to ISO specification pass / fail test (2.2% mass fraction) of residual monomer, injection molding technique($1.057{\pm}0.141%$) is a clinically useful and safe technique in terms of residual monomer.

To investigate the effect of metal electrode in electroluminescent[EL] devices, we fabricated EL devices of ITO/P3HT/Al, ITO/P3HT/LiF/Al and ITO/P3HT/Mg:In structure. In current-voltage-light power characteristics, turn-on voltage of EL devices using LiF insulating layer and Mg:In(2.8V) metal electrode is lower than EL device using Al(4.2V). Besides the external quantum efficiency is improved also. The reason is related to carrier mobility and carrier injection, which would affect the hole-electron balance. In the device with Al electrode, holes injected from indium-tin-oxide[ITO] to poly(3-hexylthiophene)[P3HT] might reach the Al electrode without interacting with injected electrons, because the electron injection efficiency was very low for this electrode. Besides oxidation of the Al electrode is likely due to holes reaching the cathode without meeting injected electrons. Another possible reason for the higher EL efficiency may be the insulating layer playing the role of a tunneling barrier for holes to the Al electrode. In all EL devices, the orange-red light was clearly visible in a dark room. Maximum peak wavelength of EL spectrum emitted at 640nm in accordance with photon energy 1.9eV
Gap junctions are distributed within various cells and function as electrical synapses by freely exchanging small molecules. In the retina, the practical role of gap junctions in an animal's motion detection has not been investigated very much. In this study, optometer response (OMR) was used to Investigate the effects of drugs which modulate electrical synapses between retinal ceils. An Injection of carbenoxolone, 8-Br-cAMP, sodium nitroprusside (SNP) or 8-Br-cGMP decreased goldfish's OMR in both light and dark conditions. In light conditions, an intravitreal injection of dopamine, SKF-38393 or eticlopride decreased OMR and that of SCH-23390 increased it. In dark conditions, the injections produced opposite results: dopamine, SKF-38393 and eticlopride increased OMR and SCH-23390 caused OMR to decrease. These results indicate that gap junctions between retinal cells have an Important role in goldfish's motion detection.
